Correction about the IM lander that final “navigation” issue was the onboard LiDAR and the laser had a physical interlock to prevent firing on the ground. They did not remove that. Tough thing to find out 600,000 miles too late
their ability to adapt and ALMOST pull of a complete successful landing is impressive.
At 8:29 where TJ (is it TJ?) talking about Opera ... he didn't even hide Chrome from the screen - which is the one he REALLY uses lol
I personally can’t wait for the first catch attempt
Stupid idea by Musk, he came up with idea but due to one crash it could wipe out the entire launching infrastructure.
Segregated landing and launch facilities make common sense.
In a world of throw away and replacement not repair such large infrastructure cannot be readily and easily replicated or repaired.
Having a CEO who has an input in the design is dangerous, musk is no aeronautical engineer, he should stick to management not design.
'Whipped up", a cooking term that has become mainstream for an on-the-fly engineering solution. As opposed to 'wiped up' which is generally a 'clean-up' term.
Thanks for sharing my render!
Great renders Lewis!
Keep them coming, please.
@@vooper1699 thanks
@@jeffreypierson2064 my best animation is coming out in the next 2 weeks (IFT-3 Animation), also I just posted some F9 renders on my YT
Thanks for letting us use it! It was perfect to show some perspective. NG is a big one!
That new jig is a ring clamp, look for welding robots to be delivered to star factory. Seem like full production line with welding robots, grab the ring, rotate as the robot welds and when done set back down and move onto the next station. They are not screwing around at all.
Ya, looks like a rotating stand that’s upside down. The steel on the apex is pretty beefy obviously to hold a lot of weight and there’s a hole in the plate on top in the pic.
I'm still anxious to see the one final modification needed to justify Starship's existence, cargo access. You're not going to just roll up with say 80 tons of cargo without a cargo hatch and loading system.
There's a lot of moving parts to the science of moving parts
not even 80, its beween 150-200 tons
@ertySkyYeah, I know. Was thinkin about the first operational launch. Where does the cargo go and how do you load it in. Major re-envisioning required, ground and support systems need to be developed. And how do we insure structural integrity for the trip back down after we've cut big holes in the top half.
@@Winkkin SpaceX has done impossible things before I wouldn't be surprised if they could do it again, and they've got a bit of NASA's help. I think making a good cargo bay is the least of their problems anyway
@ertySkyOh I'm a SpaceX fanboy. But that large hole in the upper fuselage or to allow the movement of 100+tons of cargo in and out significantly increases stress concerns during maxq and reentry. The issues with marshaling, storing, prepping that cargo is going to require a city unto itself.
I mentioned after the second launch that the launch platform is a long way from being able to launch twice in a month let alone twice in a day. You need to be able to launch 15 refuel ships in order to send one Starship to Mars and I'm sure they wont send just one ship. I'm thinking a fleet of 3 to 5 ships and 50 to 60 refuel launches to get a mission in the air over a short two week launch window. And you cant launch the fuel in advance because of boil-off.
Theres a list of impossible things that need to be done before 2028 or 2030.
@@Winkkin let's just have faith then and hope everything works out
I'm really looking forward to the IFT 3 hopefully it will reach orbit and land back on earth. And also waiting for the second tower. I'm truly inspired by the starship and want to become an astronaut. Thank for the updates
You do know “landing” is not in the plan, right? …Unless you consider setting down in the ocean a “landing.”
@@737smartin
By the time he could become an astronaut landing on the launch tower will be common. Don't jetison the oxygen of his dream.
@appliedfacts - I still think landing on the launch tower is a bridge too far. One little malfunction and you wipe out a very expensive, time-consuming to replace Stage 0 and ground your entire fleet of Starships.
And did you see how close together the two orbital pads will be??? At Canaveral, the Saturn launch pads were tens of miles apart........ for very good reason.
Sorry Felix, but they didn’t have a boil off problem. If you listened to the video conference, they said that their insulation was good and boil off was not an issue.
On top of that the tanks could handle the pressure so additional temperature just led to higher pressure and no gas.
Thank you very much for the feedback! If we cover the lander again we'll make sure to incorporate this.
I don’t know what it is. But this episode’s editing looks way better than your regular content, it’s better, tight, smoother, prettier, better! Nice!
Appreciate that! We're constantly learning. Watch Episode 1. :D
Keep that pace! Nice timing between videos, and very informative! Thanks for the great video!❤
Just guessing, but I think the “Stretch Starship” is going to have to wait on the Raptor 3 that has been mentioned. Besides the higher thrust required to get the thing off the ground, the efficiency will have to bump up to get the new heavier Starship past the atmosphere on the same amount of propellant. The engineering on those engines is going to be astonishing.
They should have a dedicated catch tower , just in case .....
There should be a Moon tip-over correction mission to right-up all the recent landers in recent years
WhaaaaT???
Launch third week of March! Heading down to S. Padre Island next week.

the actual scale of the size of what they are working on even the building is hard to comprehend -- would be nice Felix if you showed a definitive graphic and an actual set of pictures to show this --- it would show what a monumental thing they are doing
I tried several times. It's really hard to get the actual size across in a video or picture. We'll keep on trying!
@@WhataboutitMaybe include a to-scale Cybertruck for reference? 😊
I still can't believe they will try and catch the first stage on the tower. That will be the most insane broadcast so far.

Thanks!
I would love to work there.
Always appreciate you and the WAI teams work at giving us this information.. there is no better channel than WAI ... YOU ROCK!!
Amazing
GOOD JOB
Merci!
I could imagine having two quick disconnect, set ups, and then alternating between them
Nice
It's gonna take more than a couple attempts at catching that big Bas***d. So, my best guess for full rapid reusability is... 7 more launches, LUCKY number 7.
Oh no...
I feel like if catching fails, fireballs and serious damage on the facilities might happen 😨
You may be right. Have they actually caught it yet? I bet they have enough data from falcon 9 landings to get it close. Including this next launch I think it will be 3 more launches before they nail it. This next launch will make it to orbit and the booster will blow up at the tower either in the air or on the ground but the tower is going to be damaged or worse I think. If I’m right we will see a complete and successful launch and landing this time next year. If your right 7 more launches will take us out to about 2 1/2 years before they are successful. I think it will be harder to catch the starship than the booster but I don’t know what do you think?
@@joshuachan6317 not likely by landing the booster will be almost completely depleted of propellant as will be the tank farm which is protected by walls though the tower could be taken out
@@ShawnSaunders-vg3ms the 3rd launch will make the booster land into the ocean, and depending how it goes they do that a few more times, because they can’t risk blowing the tower, when the rocket itself works and can carry starlinks
I still think they should have kept one of the oil platforms to use in the initial catching phase of the boosters and Starship. As good as they are at water based landings if they have an issue with sticking the catch, if done out to sea the only damage would be to the oil rig and not to Starbase.
FELIX! HAVE I TOLD YOU YOUR MY HERO LATLEY.your the man!!!
Interesting to see new Glen actually roll out.
Almost information overload but was able to make it to the end without falling asleep, as little old men are want to do! Nice video.
Fiasco. Way to put a nice spin on it.
Thanks Felix. I'll believe the launch pad will be ok after the next launch. I just need to see it after all this work.
Time. Not the important ace. Safety is. !!!!! ❤❤😊
They need a new road between all 3 sites because soon theres going to be constant closures for ship movement
They're also going to need to accommodate what will be a constant stream of tankers to keep the tank farm filled. I see cryogenics resupply as a real potential Achilles heel to the StarShip program.
My feeling is that it’ll be a couple of years for them to reach reusability.
New Glenn will likely blow up
Can't wait to see the New Glenn lift off. Should be an awesome sight.😊
yeah- bu even if its successful i dont see why people would choose it over a falcon 9 in the future
@@The1QwertySky
B.O. has said that without a reusable 2nd stage it is not cost effective to use. So for now at least each launch will either be money wasted by the buyer or by Blue Origin.
@@The1QwertySky It's bigger than F9, and at least as re-usable, which gives it advantages for some missions... the hydrolox upper stage should in theory be very well suited for launching to GEO and beyond.
FYI Felix that is a V shape not a U shape. Or half of an X.
Achieving rapid readability of the tower is a larger problem than simply getting it ready for another launch.
But each iteration of Stage-Zero, brings it closer and closer to being able to support rapid reuse.
I want the water tank that supplies the fire suppression system to have a label that reads raptor repellent
This episode of WAI had so much advertising it was nearly unmatchable.
Hilarious.
They need to support themselves dude.
I visited LC-36 yesterday and got a good look at things. It's quite impressive, but NDAs preclude me from giving any details. It's all big stuff, though!
It looks like a tampax, it just need a string on the bottom lol. 18:49
The puzzling jig might be used for nose cone construction.
How high is the RRF?
The raptor resistance factor? ;-)
... The RRF of the launch tower ;-) 🗼🚀
I don't have a launch tower icon, so I used something a bit similar instead ;-)
Those former nitrogen tanks might used for compensating for backpressure during fuel loading allowing the load to go faster.
Anyone else still having WAI being unsubscribed? TH-cam does this way too much. I just subscribed to you channel again for the 4th time in a year
I listened/watched this entire video!! Had not done that in a while because it seemed that you were exercising your freedom to take cheap shots at SpaceX. Again you are free to do so but I am also free to pass WAI by!! Peter Beck gets the same kind of response from me!!
Go EagleCam and congrats to ERAU for being the first university built payload on the Moon!
subscribing is free yall. WAI rocks!
I think what happened was the aliens on the moon just knocked it down 😂
Is the bunker toilet a typical SpaceX double-use case serving as emergency or equipment shelter and convenience facility?
It looks like a lift jig for the boosters
I'm guessing the 3rd Starship launch will be March 18th
The progress of the work is encouraging. But new delays are more than likely, as well as new problems being identified during testing.
Yes Felix that's a giant steering wheel to sitting upside down lol.
is there any place on the interwebs where we can watch new glenn development live like we can do with starship
19:20 - Launch 20 million, payload 200 million. 😂 🔥
15:39 With collapsible landing struts, a little horizontal motion would have been canceled.
Oh, well, live and launch!
Just a guess, but that jig looks like a lifting ring clamp. Maybe to aid in stacking new sections within a mega bay???
"Vaporizer" gives serious Sci-Fi weaponry wibes.

What amazes me is the amount of planning required for SpaceX ,then there is Tesla ,,his tunnel venture ,also chip implants in the human brain ,plus whatever else he has in review, astounding amount of energy would be used ,I'm wondering if this has a affect on his health and wellbeing,I'm concerned because he is too precious to mankind to lose ❤❤❤❤ respect

16:01 Did ANYTHING work as planned? Sensors, navigation, landing...?
I guess it's easy to say final checks are important...Hind sight is always 20/20!
Rocket 🚀
5:35, how did they put that there?!... did they lift a crane with a crane there? 😂
Best T-0 for IFT-3 would be 3/14 at 1:59 PM.
15:43 ISRO did a better job by imposing a pause during descent to totally get rid of lateral movement, then started a slow descent on a scanned surface to land on a spot free of obstacles.
On the second attempt, at least... ISRO's first try was considerably less successful than IM-1. Hopefully Intuitive Machines will sort out a few of their problems (especially the self-inflicted ones) for their next next lander.
15:56 Obviously, the problem was in the AE-35 unit! 😋
Very niice. How much?
Howdy from Temple, Texas!
considering where BO is in comparison, the NG best ace their first launch to keep a candle lit.
9:20 isn't that u shape the upper section of an X, maybe they'll expand it in the near future to include a lower section. Maybe what we may need to see is if there is enough space for it though.
It seems like the best course of action for reusability for the launch tower and platform would be a flame diverter to keep the bulk of the thrust directed away from the components. Why not bring the sister company Boring machine and dig a few tunnels to allow the flames to go underground and come out several hundred yards from the platform? That seems like a simple solution compared to the water deluge system they're using now.
The amount of times I’ve heard “looks like we are finally close to seeing another launch is insane, I watch like once every 2 weeks now because of how slow things are
Exactly.
Opera! Otherwise a good update!
Can busters push other things a part of Spaceships? For instance a second minibuster(second stage) and a mini-spaceship in order to send something at third scape velocity?
I think they will need tow or three more launches to get all ready for fast turnaround.
They should cover the top of the launch stand with heat shield tiles... ???
Why is that I'm always flooded with commercials when watching the weekly WAI videos? 2 at a time every few minutes. Dozens of videos for a single WAI video? Its making me feel sick! However, the WAI video updates are really awesome!!!!! Thank you!
*Youbtoub wants more money*
Booster can still grow taller, they will either top up the mega bay to be taller as well or build one or two more that will be taller and turn over the current bays to build Starships. Considering how many Starships they are planning to produce more mega bays is highly probable though eventually I'd expect most production will be done in Florida.
Do you mean Condenser...instead of Vapourizers..
If your converting gas to liquid your condensing it..?
Multiple Catch Towers Please!🙏😁
Much easier to build and Replace, When a Booster takes it out!
Mich Less infrastructure for a Catch Only Tower! 👍
Several Catch towers located far enough from each other for safety from a Booster RUD, would be optimal to minimize Launch and Catch cadence! 🤔
Mike in San Diego. 🌞🎸🚀🖖
It's nice to see people doing stuff sanely; Both construction, development, production, testing all happening coincidentally; Instead of stupid moronic typical method of say "build the factory and facilities first, no one may be at the area before those are completed. Then move in, start development, and try to live in within that space"
The rusty jig being made is a rotating stand. It’s upside down. Look at how beefy the pointy part is.
When you said the sensor failed and it provided stale readings, that assumption was incorrect. Stale telemetry just states the most recent value received by the ground station. The loss of comms due to poor orientation after landing likely resulted in a lack of telemetry and thus the stale value just prior to the topple.
Felix, it's Whipped-up, not wiped-up. :P (Whipped as in whipping)
I just want to see what the landing burn looks like on that booster 😅
so for odysseyus they forgot to flip a switch lol thats why navigation didnt work but atleast they got to test the navigation lidar doppler so good stuff
2:00 "the boosters epsence"? did you mean absence?
Hey Felix! You have often spoke about the ship and booster quick disconect providing fuel and power, we all know about the fuel and oxygen but what kind of power? Ac or dc? What voltoge? If AC then what frequency? 60 hz like the us grid or 400hz like aircraft power systems? If AC what phase? Single, split phase or three phase? Inquiring minds want to know! Lol
