- Modification ideas for the many worldwide CB500F, CB500X, and CB500Rs. This video is to showcase and describe the many upgrades, changes, and modifications I have made to convert a mild-mannered 2017 CB500F into a lightweight, much quicker, and mild off-road PA back roads twisties bike. The goal was to convert a stock CB500 into a cafe-style on and off-road motorcycle that performs and handles way better than the stock configuration. This video shows weight savings, suspension and brake upgrades, performance mods, and cosmetic changes to transform this CB500 into an outstanding back roads bike.
I'm in the market for a 2023 CB500F and this is a great list of things to start changing once I get it. I watched your old video and then it disappeared, only to be replaced with this much better one. Thanks again for showing us how to do it. Jim
Nice bike. I saved your video to follow your setup +/- stuff the way I want it, but good to see some nice upgrades for a fun little machine.
I now have a whole checklist of mods I want to do to my cb500f, so thank you xD The amount of plastic fairings and bulk you were able to remove and all of the part upgrade are frankly impressive, especially with the airbox delete. For the wire mesh that you used to hold the wires back, is it welded? Or just screwed/riveted on?
Thanks. Simple small wire ties hold those to the frame.
Love your build, I want to do something similar. Ive managed to remove the shoulder fairings and hide away all the wires underneath fuel tank, but then there is this big cylinder thing in the way, i think its called evap canister. What did you do with it? And how can i hide it away/remove it?
The only big thing I removed from the center of the frame right behind the throttle bodies was the air box . It was replaced with a couple of UNI Foam Filters. A 3 Pound savings.
@@BruceHartz im thinking about the
evap canister, about the same size as a small Cola can. I see that you put the grill on the side, which id like to do the same but the evap is in the way. Its on the left side under the plastic shoulder fairing, atleast on my 2020 model. Did you delete it or just relocate it else where?
Are the tires stock size?
Would you mind making a part list in the description?
Yes the tires are definitely stock size. Description coming soon.
@@BruceHartz thanks! great video btw
i saw the exhaust is straight with no restriction, hows the performance?
Most of the great performance gains are from the gearing change and weight reduction which in turn enhance the 3 or 4 extra HP from the pipe and air cleaner delete.
What you lost in some of that plastic you added in wind drag at the same time making it uglier. 😵💫
