I love seeing your day to day as a hospital social worker! I really appreciate you including text over your phone conversations or computer work scenes. It's so informative to see specific tasks that you're doing. I just started my MSW and am starting my medical internship this week!
Thank you so much for your videos! I really do appreciate all the tips and details. I graduated with a BA in Psych 3 years ago and have been going back and forth between nursing and social work. With your videos, I feel like going for an MSW (specifically Medical SW) is what aligns better with me.
Omg this is me right now. I have a BA in psychology and I almost thought I would get into nursing. Not anymore! I want to know more about the MSW program! Only thing I worry is about counseling! I wonder jf being a sw it is mandatory
😂 also a BA in psych, got into an ABSN, chose to do an MSW, will be doing the med social work internship shortly after a school social work one. Lol hiii friennnds 😅 anyone else an INFJ?
Hello, can you do a video (at home) to talk about the usual routine of medical social worker in regards to prioritization. For example: discharges first, consults next, then assessments last. Interested in it all as a future medical social worker
Your videos are the best! I’m currently an advanced standing MSW social work student about to start internship in acute care inpatient at a hospital here in Texas. Thank you so much!!❤️
do you have any advice as a new SW getting into the medical field? everyone wants 1-3 years experience in the medical field but I cant find a job that will allow me to start in the medical field.
@@kekeexy you might want to look into volunteering within the hospital of your choice. An example might be to volunteer as an advocate at a victim prevention program :)
I say would it depends on the years of experience and where you work. As well, areas of specialty and training. For example, LCSW ( a Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in Veterans Affairs hospital level 3 with a certificate in CBT or EMDR can make around 80k-100k depending on the state. Meanwhile, a newly graduate of MSW(masters in social work) can make 40k or 50k depending on the agency or area of specialty, and state. My experience has been that medical social workers tends to make more money. I was previously working in a non profit for 40k when I finished my MSW and then moved to a behavioral clinic and my salary went up to 60k. I would have to say I have two years of experience and I am on track to get my license in Clinical Social Work. I would say if you really feel like you want to go into social work start looking into volunteer program at a hospital so you can see the field work of nursing and social work like a pathway program if you are in high school. I think it will give you a bit of insight of field you like the most. As well it might look well in your application when you apply for programs.
Hi MyAnh, thanks for your video. I wonder if the work that you are doing is particularly for the ER since medical social work might differ depending on the positions. Could you explain a little about your role please? Thanks!
Hi I just found your channel and really enjoy your content. I was wondering if you had any Hospital social worker essentials that you found really handy or helpful to have in that environment. Thanks : )
I’ve been a licensed social worker for over 25 years and worked at a hospital for 20 years. You’re all over the hospital or just cover one specific unit?
Is wearing scrubs a personal choice or is it recommended by your employer? I work in the ER as a social worker and I really want to wear scrubs but my coworkers dress casually.
Is medical social worker the same as Clinical social worker? Is it another name for clinical social worker? Also for medical s.w should one obtain a masters degree and license ?
Hey everyone, im a sw undergrad and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on any jobs that would make obtaining a job as a hospital sw attainable? I’ve heard it’s a difficult field to break into
Hi! I’m not sure what underboard nurse is so please forgive but you have to be a registered nurse to be an RN case manager and may require to obtain a case management certificate. I hope this helps!
Are you doing a degree or diploma in social service worker because in September I am going to start my diploma in the same course ..so is diploma worth it???
You need to have a master degree in social work to become a Professional social worker. Some say bachelor but it won't get you so far with just a diploma or bachelor degree in social work
