Hi all, so sorry for the technical issue with the 'invisible leaf' photograph 😂. Please check out my instagram here: instagram.com/p/C07HA0lMFju/?igshid=ZWI2YzEzYmMxYg== for the image, I think it was my favourite of the morning :).
On the bright side, it was razor sharp!! LOL
Oh, that's why I thought it was a bit dark and flat in the video haha
I thought I was going nuts, i was checking my WiFi signal and everything! Love the images though, thanks for everything you do. 🙏
I was like, am I blind or?
phew thought my computer was on the blink.
Nice shot of the invisible leaf 😂... I did see it on Instagram, very nice. Thank you so much for this Advent series Henry, it's a lot of fun following along!
I think you should carry on forever every day Henry! ❤️😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅
Beautiful holly image and I like the squirrel - they make me smile.
You started to mention this, Henry but then moved on to something else. Years ago, I had an extraordinary experience - what they call an "epiphany"! - when I went to Kakadu National Park, in the Northern Territory of Australia. And found that the first nations people who control the park use their eyeballs in a quite different way. Basically in a manner that extends the scope of 20/20 vision, over a visual range of 150-170 degrees. So that when they're out in the bush, hunting for food, the can easily detect & see things all over the place that europeans would simply never see. For me , it was a revelation - that trip changed my life forever. Especially handy in my photography!
Scots Pines I think Henry and as for the Squirrel, it’s wild and it’s life so in my book it’s Wildlife photography, it might not be World beating but it’s a moment captured. To capture wildlife at its best can take hours and hours of patience. Loving the intimate shots, the Holly berries in particular it shows you are appreciating everything around you not just the bigger picture, the bigger picture in woodland can be so chaotic so picking out detail is often the way to go 😉👍
Loving the image at 7:15, it has a Christmas feeling to it! And the squirrel is cute! 😊 But the best image has to be the invisible leaf 🤣🤣
Instagram didn’t do the leaf picture any Justice. I am really liking your advent series. Thank you for doing them. You’re the man!
Love the berries shot and, coming from Queenstown, New Zealand, loving your advent winter adventures.👏
Obviously the best time of the year to photograph Holly berries (both your images were holly) so a good time to wish you 'Merry Christmas' - many free apps available to identify.
Hooray ! Great shots and on my home stomping ground of Staffs !!
another bonus trek and new way of seeing.
I really enjoy your videos because they are more like I'm hanging out with a buddy taking pictures yet I still learn things and have stuff to think on after viewing. Keep going mate, you are on to something here.
😊 thoroughly enjoying the Advent series!
I don't have a TH-cam channel and maybe I will 1 day but I'll teach photography a lot to people it's usually in small groups or 1 to 1 your greatest asset is your observation
The first time I meet my students I actually asked them to close their eyeah both arise and imagine what the scene feels like does it feel cold or warm Stop many people think photography is just about images but it's not.
It's a deeper process in being able to create Something that makes someone feel something. It's a story of that area.
This advent series is so fun, because it gives us more of your videos!! Thank you!!!
Yep! A very nice photo!
Really enjoying these videos Henry from the USA! Looks awesome there and wish I was back over there as I lived in the UK for few years. Thanks and look forward to tomorrow’s content. As always, keep shooting!
Hi henry that is exactly the type of place i visit almost daily love it,well done
I'm pretty sure the other day's berries were hawthorn, and these are definitely holly today, so yes, different berries today.
I am still definitely enjoying the advent series.
I must admit i liked the B&W image of the squirrel.
A little tip Henry, take some monkey nuts in the shells and when the squirrels come a bit closer throw a few around so they can see them and wait.
It works nearly every time.
Nice image's as usual.
Look forward to seeing the next one.
Lovely chilled video Henry, I think photography has a way of making you stop and see the world in more detail. I think that’s why I enjoy it. Though I’m not very good at it yet haha
Love the series, gonna go through withdrawal when it’s finished!
Lovely images Henry, the Holly pic is very Christmassy, would make a good December pic for a future calendar 😉
Hi Henry loving your advent series. You have us new ideas to look for on our wanderings. You mentioned early on that post processing has a place in photography. I am sure that there is a few of us struggle in that area. What about writing an ebook on landscape post production, im pretty sure it would get a good response. Keep up the good work
Another great video, loving these more localised areas and intimate shots, loved the holly with the berries
Another fine video in the series, Henry. This has got to be a lot of work for you. My hat is off to you, sir. Cheers.
I certainly revisit previous locations, sometimes to try and get a better shot than I did last time, or just to experience it at a different time of day or year. Very artistic shot of that squirrel too! Nice idea to convert it to black and white as well. Thanks for another great vlog Henry!
I loved the Squirrel photo and my husband and I are really enjoying the advent series
Another awesome video. Spending today recovering and catching up on your videos. I know that sometimes finding where you took a shot during a previous season is always interesting as you may find something different to enjoy. Thanks again for your inspiration!
For me, there's no better feeling in being out there especially at sunrise and witness the start of the day and its even more special if it's a location you have to yourself. I also put the mental well being benefits at the top of the list of what I get out of my photography. Even if you dont capture something of note, just being out is more than good enough for me. Nice framing with the holly image Henry, worked really well I thought
Capturing raindrops, and the little world that is captured with the reflections is a thing I really love doing next to landscapes, I revisit locations on numerous occasions, because no 2 days are the same, so always get a different image
I really love your intimate photography images Henry. They are just the inspiration I need to go out to my local woodland and find something new. I agree that those of us who can get out to a beautiful woodland are so fortunate. They offer so many other health benefits as well as photography.
Scots Pine
Cheers Henry I had to rewind the video to see the leaf photo thought it was my internet playing up lol thanks again for another advent video really enjoy your work cheers again 👍🏻
Once again Henry loads of enthusiasm just shows that even in a rather uninspiring location you can pull something out of the bag with these more intimate composition's. As for the wildlife photography we'll...... maybe I'd give that one a miss. 😁 Joking aside very much appreciate the time and energy you put into these videos. 👍
Hi Henry! Still absolutely loving your advent series!!! Today's video really hit home. When I get out it seems like my mind is going 100 mph. Yesterday I was doing some sunrise photos here in the Great Smokey Mountains and afterwards decided to do some river photos. I made myself slow down and got some really good intimate shots of leaves with frost on them. Take care and keep up the good work.
If you ever in Brighton visit Queen’s Park to meet very friendly and cute squirrels 🐿️.
Keep up the great content. Good to see you walking with your camera in your hand . Ready for the shot
Backlit bramble leaf well noticed and photographed 👍
Thanks 👍
Henry I’m enjoying your Advent vlogs. I’m the opposite, my wife will confirm I need speeding up 😉. You’re like the dog from the movie Up “squirrel!” 😀
Enjoying series. Holly bush was beautiful.
I have often wondered the pros/cons of shooting in a certain crop/ratio vice post processing crop.
Yes this one is a bit different Henry not landscapes. Liked the red berries with water drops. A great Advent series.
Great video Henry. Woodland photography has become a real love of mine over the last few months. So many unique photo opportunities on offer with every composition almost changing by the day as the seasons come and go. Agree that it definitely slows you down too.
I have that same squirrel picture.😂
Henry, I'm beginning to sound like a "broken record"! These videos are so amazing and inspiring. I am very much getting used to taking these walks with you every day. I love the red berries and have decided to try to shoot some holly shrubs right outside my office window. Keep up the great work Henry! You're a prince for taking us on this wonderful journey every day.
Loving this series Henry.
What a Christmas bonus for us all.
Another cracking video, thank you. The leaf pic shows you are a mere mortal like the rest of us. 🙂
Absolutely haha
Great video Henry, your videos are so motivating and I am finding so much of what you talk about relevant to me and the things I enjoy about photography as a hobby.
I am fortunate enough to have some lovely woodland and wild areas local to me, which may seem ordinary on first look, but are really special to me. They are great places for finding calm and peace, slowing down and looking at the small details in nature.
Hi Henry, thanks for another grand day out, thanks for sharing .. and another 10,000 virtual steps again! ... I'm really enjoying the more intimate prhotography, as it more matches up with what I can do, but always enjoy the grander vistas too. Looking forward to the next episode in this Avent series, its a real tonic ... but then again, Thursday evenings are always ones to look forward to in more regular times.
PEANUTS Henry. Squirrels LOVE peanuts. Take them with you next time and you'll get Squirrel macro shots😂
Liked the woodland video Henry the oak leaf looked mint good work again 👍😊
Another enjoyable video and beautiful photos!
Henry, the Advent series is an absolute success! Thank You. I've noticed and have seen your evolution from composing mostly wide vista landscapes to spend more time on what you call more intimate photography. Is it time for you to consider experimenting and trying your hand at macrophotography?
Digging your Advent series Henry! Keep it up.
Great series Henry .... walking around taking pics is more in my kind of photography as I have difficulty getting out to other locations..... love the results you shared.... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Stretch goal : ... till New Years Eve ?? Kind regards, Guy.
Great stuff Henry enjoying the daily excursions with you wherever you are going. Don't know if you have been to Formby beach but there is a small colony of native squirrels in the northern car park area. The forest and dunes remind me of the Baltic coast of Lithuania and Estonia, plenty of stunted Pines.
Can't wait to see where you are next.
These are Holly Berries ❤
Henry, you have a great outlook on life!
Another excellent video. Really enjoying the series. You've inspired me to get out to my local woods tomorrow morning, regardless of the weather!
Sounds great!
I do t know about you Henry but I went out today and got some shots but i literally can't remember the last time i had the luxury of a dry day. Granted I live in the Highlands but I'm hoping for a dry shoot sometime soon.
I find woodlands in winter very difficult to photograph, likewise I tend to look for macro/close up shots 👍🏻 saw the leaf photo on instagram before I watched this.
Hi Henry, another cracking video. This series has really inspired me to get out there with my camera. Merry Christmas!
Look at you, finding the Zen of the small thing. Pretty soon you'll be able to hear the trees breathing.
Now just stop telling yourself you can't own that squirrel. Just look - and let it happen. :)
I thought for a minute you had taken the leaf with the lens cap on - in which case yes I also have that gift :)
The "missing leaf" is an oak and saw it on IG. 😂
This is great, I've been loving it.
BTW, the first photo, the leaf, didn't display
Just took a leaf out of your book Henry 🤣🤣😁
I’m loving the fact that you are squeezing images out of “common locations!” This is what most of us have to work with! It’s always fun to watch your productions! Thanks for taking me along!
Excellent stuff mate, I love tripods, I've got a monster Leofoto, no centre column but it extends to over 2m 😅 - not practical generally but don't care 😂. Fouging about locally is great, you never know when you might come across a hidden gem! 👏👏👏
Interesting photo of the leaf Henry, did you leave the lens cap on or was it your little ruse to check we were all awake. Loved the image of the berries.
😂
Would love to know where in Staffordshire you we're as its my home county... some of the places look familiar but was hard to tel. Great viewing as always Phil H
Hiya mate this is Loggerheads 👍🏼
Liking this Advent series Henry but what happened to the first leaf picture at 4'55" it seems to have gone AWOL. keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, yeah I messed up with that video edit, you can see the image here: instagram.com/p/C07HA0lMFju/?igshid=ZWI2YzEzYmMxYg==
Henry another amazing video and you have come to my own county of Staffordshire. I would be interested to know which woods you were in. well done again
Thanks mate, this is in Loggerheads
Another ripper Henry , so enjoying your advent series . I often revisit a location I have previously photographed , some photographers are against such a thing , for me personally I feel it’s like going back to visit an old friend , each visit has a different prospective and if you into reviewing these old locations in different seasons you will get a whole different look , so to me it’s worth doing , some locations look better in Autumn or spring or winter and possibly in summer . So one never knows if you can improve on what you have already photographed before until you actually give it a go and revisit the area in question . That’s my view anyway and it has worked out for me many times. Thanks again Henry .
Absolutely loving the Advent series. Maybe you can do something similar throughout the year. Like doing one week of daily vlogs a month around your regular uploads.
👍👍
What's up my friend? I like the video, really nice shots. As far as the wild life like squirrels, from what I've seen wild life photographers do is bate the area with little treats like nuts such as filberts, and raw cashes, something like that. Then they would make a small hide area close to the subject without being seen. Focus in on the spot to be seen and wait. When they show up for the treat, get the shot. I know it seems like a lot to do, but you should challenge yourself sometime. Guys like Morton Hillier and Doug Garner, this is what they do. God I hope I spelled their names right. If I didn't; sorry fellas. I know that was a mouth full, but, you never know. Give it a shot, it might be fun. Anyway,; take it easy my friend. God Bless! Peace!
👍📷😎
Question time again, can you convert a black and white 35mm shot into a digital shot, or am I stuck with either photo paper of a slide format?
Yes, you can scan it and save as JPEG or Tiff etc. and then you can process it, in Photoshop or similar.
@@philparker97 thank you 👍
Squirrels are just tree rats.
I do t know about you Henry but I went out today and got some shots but i literally can't remember the last time i had the luxury of a dry day. Granted I live in the Highlands but I'm hoping for a dry shoot sometime soon.
