The most profound day of my life, working with Brian in his home studio on this song. So glad that’s the profits are going to “Feeding America. I really miss Carl and Dennis and happy to see some of the grown-up kids, and grandkids🎶😎🎶
Thank you so much Joe-- an honor to be able to say thank you to you. Alan seems to revise one of the lyrics, the famous 1 about the dentist's chair. I wonder if anyone noticed. Al is famous for mixing lyrics around
Wishing Jeff Foskett all good things with his throat cancer treatment....what a voice, Jeff has been working along the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson since the 70's
What a brilliant decision to have the great great David Marks founding member of The Beach Boys original Rhythm guitarist play on this recording in addition to appearing throughout the video Rockin and Rollin old school. Here's to David Marks my favorite Beach Boy.
This song first came out in NINETEEN SEVENTY !!! Shows you just how under-appreciated (commercially) the GREAT "Sunflower" album was -- how far ahead of its time it truly was.
I remember the first time I heard the Beach Boys my cousin Donna had a 45 of Surfin back in 1962 then we saw them practice at some friends house still wasnt a fan..it wasnt until I was at a sock hop at Jr.high and I heard Surfer Girl while I was dancing with my girlfriend that I became a life long BB fan and a surfer... my kids grew up BB's fans now my grandkids listen to the BB....I have seen many BB concerts in every decade and hope to see the 60th concert with Brian and Al along with David, Matt and whats left of the Beach Boys
Wow, this just popped up on my feed.. and what a great surprise. All I have been listening to and watching is the history of Beach Boys+ Brian Wilson+Fendertones+live shows.... as much as I can because my ears never heard harmonies like this in these keys. I am not a pro but recorded myself and lots of bands and the old Austin scene the past 30 years. To hear this and see Matt and the Wilson ladies+kids... I bought tickets to see everybody in Tennessee but as you know the shows got cancelled. We were going to drive 18 hours there and back just to get a chance to witness real sounds live. My husband does all the “ black shirt “ work before during and after shows or hotel events downtown Austin. He’s 56, not many experienced techs around and he’s a very much appreciated support if you know what I mean. It’s so nice to see this, and encouraging. Sunday Gospel is just not for Sunday’s-and having The Lord in your life every day is a good day, even with trouble. Just talking to The Father in Heaven, he knows what we’re thinking anyway. We listen to the Shepherds Chapel live stream on 24/7 and you would be surprised just how much is taught by listening, and I am not a religious person. You know truth when you hear it. And because of this pretty sounds you all have done, at the same time this same preacher started on the air, believe it not in California on the radio after the war, and settled in Gravette Arkansas preaching until the day before in died in 2014 in his 80’s. His son is now uploading new encouraging sermons on YT every few weeks, now grey, started at age 15 with HIS father. Some are experts in music; this is truly a ministry that doesn’t have a begging bag, He never took a paycheck, and was the first back then to have their own network, before all this internet started. I sound like a sales person right? No, I just have listened to so much of everyone’s music I feel I can see your hearts through the TV, and with what’s going on in California, The Word of God never leaves you or forsakes you, but if your heart is tugging at wondering, and the thin paged Bible seems daunting, it really is the same things over and over, God’s patience, forgiveness, promises and everything of what’s to come. Much is already unfolding of the prophecies. And there’s no need to be scared, HE takes care of his children. But he wants to know you. I can’t tell you how much The Word changed my life and brought peace in this craziness. When you know he already foretold us all things, and then see it, it is comforting to know he has our back. I don’t know why I, am saying all these things that right now many scoff, doubt, and think it is hard. Well this generation has been lied to, many fake teachers, preachers, robbed of God’s simple Truth and Plan. He has a plan. Many don’t know it, or told lies. Your music has inspired me so much this past summer, yes I had a summer at my age with The Beach Boys and all things developed as a result of it. And the sounds, the music really healed my heart longing for pretty sounds instead of dark notes and content with no substance. Thank you all for your years of service to our souls in music, and continued efforts. It is a ministry too, the Bible speaks a lot of music, and I bet you all were the singing angels from what God describes in the first earth age. Spiritual life, now in the flesh, soon going back to a spiritual life for 1000 years. I am not a teacher, but all I can say, in the planet covered by all types of music, same with churches, teachers, and false prophets. The Shepherds Chapel, in Gravette has taught the Bible every 5 years since the 80’s. Not one time changed the message, because they just use The Bible and the Strongs Concordance, along with a Companion Bible that takes words back to the original Greek or Hebrew.. then it makes it flow. Pray for Wisdom and Knowledge. See what happens Thank you for reading. I hope His Word finds it in your eyes and ears. ✨🎶✨🎶✨🎶✨🎶✨🎶🙂🌅🌎✝️🙏
And PS- don’t believe the auto generated search sabotage engines of what they say about this man or this ministry. Just like all kinds of “:stories” you all probably dealt with, so did he. Especially in the 80’s and 90’s. Good thing he never cared or changed his teaching or let them bother him. The more he was attacked, it only increased the amount of people writing letters asking questions and growing in The Word. Again, I don’t know why I’m writing all this, but The Holy Spirit guides, and maybe somebody out there needs to find a teacher. From right in your where you are. No building. Thank you...
Such a beautiful song. Brings back memories of discovering these songs as a young teen 45 years ago, learning how to sing harmonies through them, especially this one. The 12 string just rings. Seeing David Marks, plus the clips of Dennis and Carl, beautiful.
This is the first time, I'm feeling to see The Beach Boys as humans, as humans. Seeing the whole family and the span of three generations of the Loves and the Wilsons singing, is a tribute of The Beach Boys legacy and highlights the beauty of a world with them. Really pulled the strings of my heart. This is a very important song.
I love The Beach Boys and their music so much with all my heart and soul this is why I have been such huge fan for so long. It's so nice to see their families in this video. I wish Brian was apart of this. Thanks for Sharing
The Beach Boys should do an album with California Saga, they have the pipes! Truly sounds amazing, this captures the sound and vibe of late sixties early seventies BB perfectly.
Well done, everyone! A bit surprised that we don't see a reference to the Sunflower LP, where it helped anchor Side 1 and prompted the cover & gatefold design for the record. Even though Brian didn't participate, a shot of him in his Good Humor hat could've "added" his presence--after all, he wrote the music! A suggestion for a follow-up video: "Good Timing"--we could all use some!
What a MARVELLOUS video!! You all just made my day!!!! I love this song and I always pass it along to people! Like my DENTIST!! Hahahaha! Wow. Super nice! Fantastic vocals (no surprise there) great arrangement and production. And you had me with the Dennis and Carl footage. Gonna watch this a lot. Thanks!
So great to see so many family members involved. Matt takes such an important role now, and does an incredible job. But every time I see this I still want to know the artist who painted the farm scenes behind Al. :) And Bruce is Beach Boy epitomized, still playing nice, having fun in the sun. And he writes the songs ;) But a tour with all these members and families….Al, Matt, Wendy and Carnie make it work, don’t stop!
Well done! Amazing job bringing them together on this beautiful song. Really moving! Hope for more collaborations, they sound so good together! Maybe even in concert?! Thanks to all who contributed! 😊👍🎵🎶❤

@@MargotRobbieFan1 ok so long story short: I went to my first beach boys concert in September 2015, I was 11 (and it was only 3 months after I discovered them and became a fan). Throughout the entire show, for whatever reason, I totally stood out to Mike in the crowd and he seemed to love me. After the show, Jackie (his wife, who I’ve known just as long and is just as nice) walked up to me and my dad and said “hey come with me, Mike wants to meet you personally!”. Fast forward to today, over the last 6 years I’ve grown an amazing bond with him and the rest of the current touring lineup, they treat me like I’m part of the family! They're all amazing guys and have been nothing but awesome to me, I love getting to hang out with them all. It's interesting that this song wasn't really played on the radio back in the day, at least not on a national level, and never even made it into the #40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Yet somehow it went on to become somewhat of a Beach Boys classic and a fan favorite!
Great version of this song, one of my favorite Beach Boy songs. Is there a video of the six of them performing this song? I would love to see it with Dennis and Carl actually performing .
I give Mike Love credit for helping with creating the early Beach Boy hits... and a few others. And his voice is so characteristic and important to the Beach Boys sound.
