With being a driver, mechanic, crew chief, car owner, track official, etc., I've been involved in racing about 38 years...I don't say this often, but IM IMPRESSED!!! She did GREAT!!! Sprint cars are a completely different animal...even the steering wheel is at a weird angle, and she nailed it. And not just driving, but her understanding the car ( not going fast enough to feel the shocks working, feeling the track take rubber, etc). Better watch out, Tanner...she's coming for your ride!!! LOL. Great job, Carly!! Thanks for letting us be a part of it.

I love the one mounted, I'm guessing, at the upper right of the cage, looking down on you/Carly. We can't see the track, etc, but we get a great view of the work that goes in to driving a sprint. That girl will be a great racer. Her brother taught her perfectly, and she has a lot of talent on the own. Her parents gave her a great fun experience. Great family!
The temp was from running at a lower rpm then what your fuel system is set for.. the engine has to work harder.. and earlier when in and out of throttle.. the butterflies closed and opened faster then bypasses could release.. pretty sure by the "last session" over heating wasn't an issue.. Nice laps😉
100 percent correct. This is exactly what the engine builder told us. I think we may still have some small issue tho cause on the last session when she was gassed up, it was still a tad bit hot (260 ish).
Maybe open water flow out and restrict it going back in so it stays in radiator longer.. or going from 3 coil to 4.. increase distance travel thru radiator
@@dennysmith5235 My question does it have a thermostat in it? Some times 180 degree thermostat works wounders. Also they may need to put a smaller main pill in it more fuel to the engine helps cool then down.
Carly you rocked it. I was really impressed at your ability. It was a great idea to rent the track for a day. I would not want a baptism by fire for my learning session. It will be great watching your growth in a sprint. Way to go girl.

I've always wanted to drive and see what it is like. Being a small little boy going to San Jose speedway a race fan for the old super mods. I've dreamed about racing but that's what I'm stuck with. I know it's very expensive and will never be able to. Watch is second best and love it. Good for you and wish you luck.

in 1952 my dad put me in a midget racecar and i was hooked,i have driven and built all kinds of racecars,dirt and aspahlt,im 77yo now and Carly keep up the driving,you are a natural,your family must be proud of you

Omg! Wow, this is Awesome to watch here in Australia. This young lady at her age driving sprintcars is amazing! Ive seen young people aged 17-20 racing but 14 i could never imagine, im lost for words. Always good to see more females in the sport but teenagers must be very brave to race these beasts on a dirt track at their age. Thankyou for sharing Carlys story here on TH-cam, would love to see more of this in the future.

Im in New Zealand and the sprint car has always been my favorite at the speedway, i have only imagined what it would be like to sit in the drivers seat, if i ever do i hope it goes as well as what Carly just did, very impressive and extremely awesome
Speedway is just such a generational sport; here in Australia we have a previous Sprintcar champion who's daughter, grand-daughter AND great grand-daughter race Sprintcars, he pit crews for them.. I've watched lots of speedway, commentated speedway and seen thousands of champions and hopefuls, but, seriously, if this is indeed, Carly's first ever drive, then she's a natural! Tanner is in danger of becoming known as Carly's brother!!! I love your skills, girl!
Wow I need to say you can tell the relationship you have with her a very proud brother. Carlie you did amazing I was truly blown away. This is the first time to actually get to see her without a hat or something like that she is a very pretty girl she will be able to use that later on. This sure takes me back... nearly 50 yrs ago... my first drive in a dirt car...really bally slick track... even the old timers were a little afraid of it... but pretty much just like the video shows (exactly) but only a few nights later bad crash coming out of two.... riding the cushion too close to the wall... get sucked in.... thought it would take forever things to stop moving and spinning out of control! I really didn't know what I was doing until Don Mack on a Tuesday night at Winnipeg Canada came over and suggested running the car straight up with a lot less stagger, then explained what I should run at every track, gears and tires! Very thankful.
I think she did great, for the first time in a Sprint car. Tanner you better watch out, your dad might put her in the driver's seat. Looking forward to next year's race season.

Tanner, I am no expert but I messed with sprint cars a little. On starting I always turned on the ignition first then the fuel so the engine could not load up with fuel and lock up. And of course on shutting down always turn off the fuel to kill the engine before turning off the ignition. And man I'll tell you your sisters first time was awesome. Hundreds of times better than my first time in a race car (which was an old jalopy modified). About my 3rd lap I was getting on it hard but using the brake entering the corners when going into 3 no brakes at all - I froze and launched straight off the end of the track and landed in a pond up to my neck is the water. So maybe I should not be giving any opinions on sprint cars.

Tanner, I am no expert but I messed with sprint cars a little. On starting I always turned on the ignition first then the fuel so the engine could not load up with fuel and lock up. And of course on shutting down always turn off the fuel to kill the engine before turning off the ignition. And man I'll tell you your sisters first time was awesome. Hundreds of times better than my first time in a race car (which was an old jalopy modified). About my 3rd lap I was getting on it hard but using the brake entering the corners when going into 3 no brakes at all - I froze and launched straight off the end of the track and landed in a pond up to my neck is the water. So maybe I should not be giving any opinions on sprint cars.
