    I see they came up Crenshaw (going north)past Century. Hit Manchester (went West) to Prairie (turned North), turned West on Florence.
    Turned North for a bit on Centinela past Centinela Park (Edward Vincent), Centinela curves back into a east/west and rode it down to the high priced homes.
    I've taken this exact route from Century on so many times.

    Having a hard time understanding why this particular unit was dispatched in the first place, especially for a flooding. A confirmed fire, maybe. We seemed to have toured most of LA County, passing through at least 3 different fire districts, putting the apparatus, crew and the public in danger before being cancelled. Either the requesting officer or the dispatcher needs a talking to.

    • @FB1ResponseVideos
      @FB1ResponseVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      38’s, 58’s and 172’s are sort of in weird locations truck-company wise. for structure fires, LAC will dispatch an LA City task force or the Culver City truck company. for other calls where a truck is needed but not as quickly, they’ll call LF170 to avoid requesting from other agencies.

    • @keestrokes
      @keestrokes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You get a truck and pump. Pumps role is to supply water to the truck. 4th person on the truck rides on the engine and first responsibility is to grab the hydrant for the pump then rejoin their truck crew. Engineer connects water supply, then stands by to supply water to the truck. Or so the sorry goes. Nice system really. You get all the tools to take on a small incident.

    Is it my imagination, or does it seem these guys aren't in that big a hurry? Not questioning their reasons for it--just interested in understanding the possible reason. (Or is this the norm in LA?)

    • @FB1ResponseVideos
      @FB1ResponseVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it’s hard and quite dangerous for anyone to be in a hurry in LA, the main issue is that everyone IS in a hurry. plus, as you can imagine, the quint is huge and carries tons of equipment so being careful is possibly the best choice. also, the shops are always really busy so if a rig gets wrecked, they won’t see it for a year. 170s actually recently got out of reserves...both of them! thanks for watching (:

    How does the Light Force concept work in county compared to city?
    Do they have a tiller + engine setup like LAFD? Or tiller only? Also, does that mean that the tiller and engine can come from different stations?

    • @austinc14
      @austinc14 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      itchyboy they have the quint and engine as the light force, they respond together and are based out of the same station

    • @sixstringbestfriend
      @sixstringbestfriend 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks.
      I notice that some stations have an 'engine only' setup, while some have a 'tiller only' setup. How do they manage?

    • @FB1ResponseVideos
      @FB1ResponseVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      LA County has very few light forces. like you said, most quints run alone and most engines run alone but their light forces operate just like LA City's, staffed with 6 (4 on quint and 2 on engine). i'm honestly not sure of their exact reasoning of using light forces if they only have so few of them. every single LA City truck company is a light force except Truck 9.

    • @sixstringbestfriend
      @sixstringbestfriend 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If a tiller and engine are from separate stations, do they ever get paired up as a light force?
      How different are the duties of a county tiller from the city ones?

    • @FB1ResponseVideos
      @FB1ResponseVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      negative, a light force is specifically a quint and an engine married together from the same station. but don't get too confused .. for example, 30's has a quint and an engine but they're not a light force, and if they get dispatch to something together, it still will not be called a light force because they're not usually a light force.
      LA City runs trucks, no water. County runs quints with a little water on board but not necessarily enough to get by.
      LA County light forces usually come into play when a station with only a quint (i.e 158's, 161's and 166's) goes into a reserve truck (without water) so they'll send an extra guy and an engine there and call it a temporary light force. other than that, i'm not quite sure why county used them in only certain areas, i'm sure there's some sort of logic and strategic placement behind it.

    Great video. One question why call the fire department for a flooding?

    • @FB1ResponseVideos
      @FB1ResponseVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      an outdoor flooding: could be a water main break, usually the local water department is then called after the water is shut off.
      an indoor flooding: FD does a water sweep. thank you for watching.

Once (with no camera) I saw a open tiller in LF 170 but not sure if it was a LF then at the target plaza on century running with 172 squad to a down security officer on a segway the tiller wasnt quint though this was 2008 may have been the former tillers of either truck 3 or truck 8 when they had the open tiller seat seagraves

      @FB1ResponseVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      it took 13 minutes with blaring lights and sirens, that says a lot about the traffic as you can see in the video. plus, it was simply to assist in a flooding call, no lives were really at risk. as you saw in the video, they had to travel through 172’s district, 173’s district, and into 58’s. also, LF170 isn’t first due for fire calls in 58’s area, an LA City task force or Culver City’s truck will be dispatched.
