How about Josh Berry with a Top 10! What a awesome bounce back from last week for him.
Chase Elliott was talking to him all race long.
@@bigrooster6893 no he wasn't he was just talking to the team
And he restarted 16th on the final GWC ! And finished 10th ! Awesome !
Considering this is only
his 2nd start in a Next Gen car and his 4th overall Cup start, that’s pretty damn impressive.
Yes it was and he needed that run last week I was thinking what the hell was thinking putting him in the 9 but he really impressed me today
How tf do Chastain and Hamlin always find each other….they’re actual magnets.
It looked to me like Hamlin intentionally drifted up into Ross Chastain. Maybe just because I really don't like Hamlin to begin with.
They should start selling Chastain vs Hamlin magnets I think they’d sell well 😂
@@JayStephens8 someone needs to x ray them both for magnets LOL. Or they’re must meant for each other…..
@@dougscott8161 unintentionally or not he definitely was at fault.
At this point, those 2 might as well become teammates
As a Blaney fan I thought I was dreaming watching him pick up spots off pit road for most of the day
And Hassler actually made a good call
Yeah it was weird to see his team make the *right* choice at the end of the race.
He was sooo close
He finished right behind his sister's boyfriend
Being a Blaney fan can be stressful usually cause his pot crew and bad luck cause him.
With Byron's 6th victory, that puts the #24 at 99 wins all-time cup.
Yup. Jimmie has more championships than Jeff Gordon but Gordon had 95ish wins. Jimmie nowhere close. Love seeing the 24 up front.
@@Mac-td7lt Jeff has 93 wins.
@@Mac-td7lt Jimmie has 83 wins, which I guess is "nowhere close" but still kinda close to me.
@@vercingetorix444 If that Pocono crash Jimmie had didn't happened he very well could have 10 more wins seeing that he had 2 wins before that race
Harrison Burton is a prime example of what a driver with money vs driver with real talent looks like.
I mean Matty D could have been better, but Harrison is not showing me much.
The Wood Bros doesn't exactly have top-tier equipment either
@@thefranchise4698 I feel like the 5th Penske car should definitely be better then that but I do agree with you guys 😂
He was rushed to cup showed tons of potential in xfinity
@@tuckduck33 he won 0 Xfinity races the year before he moved to cup.
I believe I saw bowman now the only driver with all top 10’s. Blake Harris must be treating that team well over at the 48
Points leader baby!
Bowman’s been needing a different crew chief for years!
Yeah, the 48 has had a great start to the season. I hope they can keep it up
As a harvick fan that was watching lap times it was a roller coaster of emotions after watching harvick every lap to see if if was better than Larson. When he finally got by I was like yes this could be legendary. I was on cloud 9. When the caution came out I went from cloud 9 to 😢. Still loved watching Harvick show why he is the king of Phoenix
On a positive note Harvick ended the day with a 20th consecutive Top 10 at Phoenix! Unreal!!
On one hand I’m happy we got that last caution because of the fun finish, but I feel for Harvick, he had the thing won…
I couldn't stop crying for 2 hours. And I'm a 19 year old man.
Yep. He drove his ass off. I think Harvick was the best driver. We always hear " So and so had the best car". Kevin didn't have the best car but he drove the 5h1t out of what he had.
Now we do know if we didn't have the stupid stage stuff in nascar both larson and Byron would be well over a lap on almost every one and about half a lap on 3rd
NASCAR was really quick on the trigger for the Harrison Burton spin.. They wanted a caution bad.
@@jamescarpenter855 Stage racing basically ruins the point of having a fast long run car, which is one reason it’s unfortunate it’s even a thing to be split in stages.
Always will root for the 24, so seeing Byron doing this well makes me happy!
Fun Fact: William Byron has won 6 races at 6 different tracks with 6 different paint schemes not to mention that his first win at Phoenix is his first ever Top 5 finish in the desert
I thought the bar graph in the lap box was one of the best additions in a long time. Like it a lot.
Fun little addition
As an HMS fan, it's kind of fun watching other teams making strides to beat HMS drivers. Knowing how solid HMS is and still see a team put forth a challenge really makes for a good watch. Even when I compete, I don't hate losing to a better competitor. I only hate not making progress to make it more of a challenge.
BY The way, I Still wanna know where I can get that shirt
Josh Berry with a top 10 was an awesome story. That man has got some skills.
I’ve been a big Byron fan since his xfinity days. It’s so nice to see this success.
Let's notice... the graphic in the top left of the screen suring the broadcast. Not sure if it was there in weeks past, but the progress throughout the race as well as when the yellows came out at an approximation is probably one of the best ones I've seen. And it's so simple
Saw that. Pretty cool addition
I like it, only problem is it’s very hard to see the yellow line.
@@nascarsam6161 I agree they need to made the yellow line thicker, but I would like to see it when there are more cautions to see.
It's interesting that we got a repeat winner this early in the season. I think the parity is waning and the cream is rising to the top again.
I don’t think so, Byron stole this win despite not being the fastest car. I think theres parody left to see yet this year
I still think there is a good level of parity between the top 25 cars. But Hendrick do seem to be ahead of the game in terms of setup.
i think it's just variance
Kevin ain't done yet I think he going to win at least one more time wouldn't be surprised if it ain't at a super speedway seems fitting
Shoutout to Berry, gets a top 10 hung around in the teens most of the day too. Also second week in a row Keselowski loses a top 10 because of a late caution. Still good to see RFK, starting to appear near the front more often again.
Yea as a Keselowski fan I'm in pain
I've got a lot of egg on my face for voicing a bit of unfair criticism to him, after a bad run, even before he had throttle issues.
That's not to say, Jordan Taylor shouldn't get a shot, since he helped the HMS and NASCAR with Garage 56 project, and this is within his wheelhouse, but Berry it out, when he wasn't running so hot earlier, I think he should get the nod to race out the other races until Chase gets back.
As a keselowski and Harvick fan…. Pain
Kind of crazy that Jeff Gordon won back to back races twice in 2007, both involving talladega. And he also accomplished that feat 8 times from 2001-2007.
If not for Jimmie, he likely wins that title.
@@easyenetwork2023 he had a 400 pt advantage on the rest of the field before the chase started. That would have been 1 of his missing 3 championships if it weren’t for the chase. Heartbreaking as a Gordon fan.
That’s why this is such a big win for Byron. He stole it. He didn’t have it stolen as he has every time before. As said last week all of his previous wins he dominated.
Same here. Grew up a diehard Gordon fan. Next win Byron gets will be the 100th win for the #24!
He stole it thanks to nascar throwing a ridiculous late caution
As a Harvick fan, the thing I found most frustrating was how long the caution for Burton's spin took. Feels like we should have been able to go green with 5 laps left, minimum. There was some debris, but 7 caution laps worth? It's not the first time that Nascar has lolligagged on a late caution to automatically default to the GWC. I think the 2 vs 4 tire deal could have been pretty fun to watch with 5 laps left and not just 2.
Not only did Hamlin wall Chastain, he then proceeded to beat his bumper in after the fact. I dunno if he thought he might as well get a few licks in while it didn't count or what, but man, it's hard to sell that one as being Chastain's fault.
Nah, Chastain definitely brake checked him right after the collision into the wall
@@Scorpian58still was in the right imo, Hamlin strikes first
@@C4r0n1k yeah for sure. I doubt he ran Ross into the fence on purpose, but the brake check was valid. At the same time, the 11 def owes Ross from last year so this don't really bother me tbh
Chastain deserves everything he gets!
You got it wrong ! Chastain owes Hamlin counting all the times Hamlin retaliated during the green AND under caution last year !
Stewart Haas Racing is basically the NFC South of NASCAR at the moment...

Good analogy
I’ve never heard any of the journalists ask Harvick’s team (Rodney, Kevin even Tony) why they consistently outperform the other SHR teams.
As a Hendrick fan I see this as an absolute win. Still feel for Harvick tho
The closer had them covered. Harrison Burton picks up his check from Hendrick tomorrow.
Hendrick would never hire him. Not sure why Roger or Ford hired him.
😂
Mad ? Lol 21 had a flat tire, idk how you do that on purpose lol.
@@easyenetwork2023 they just had to have a rookie instead of a proven playoff driver
@@ryanstrang6116 The tire blew because of flat spotting during the spin. Not the other way around.
William Byron must’ve stolen Alex Bowman’s notebook with all this backing to late restart wins 🫥
Yeah that is😂
That’s the points leader and the playoff grid leader you’re talking about there 👀
Bud .... he's your points leader and your playoff points leader, yeah bowman the Stoleman was always mid never leading points lol
I doubt it last week Byron was the fastest but this week for sure
@@evanberth3847 😂
I Agree, the package is an improvement but I was hoping for more. Overall, not a bad race. I was entertained, i love watching the cars fight for traction.
Reminiscent of old Atlanta, Darlington, Auto club… I love that style of racing and it routinely is dominated with long green flag runs and little passing.
Bet the Wood Brothers are missing Matt. At least he was in the conversation
He made Playoffs in 2020 in just points and made the 95 better.
As someone who was at the race, i think the most exciting part was watching harvick slowly chip at larsons lead and pass him
During that run, Harvick was as far back as 3.5 seconds behind Larson. But by the time the pitstops came around, he was 1.22 seconds behind. Pitted and almost came out ahead of Larson. It was so exciting to watch
As a Harvick fan I’d say: Very sad and upset that Kevin lost because of Dem Rooks Wrekin’ for last place
Yeah, why did Burton hit that wall and spun out anyways? What was he fighting tooth and nail for? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Burton still has a lot of learning to do.
3:40 I bet on Harvick to win the race so I believed he would have Ford up there didn’t have faith in the other ones though but they finished right behind em
Groovy Gauge as an old school metal thermometer would be a cool product.
Sucks a guy who should have never left the Xfinity series caused a caution that ruined this race for the 4 car..
remember like 5 years ago when we thought Hendrick was a dying organization? How the tables have turned right?
They never really go away. I think HMS stays good because they are well ran and always have money.
For my first cup race I thought the race was good. The facility and Infield experience was great!
Next week at Atlanta will be an interesting one. I know people don’t consider super speedway racing actual racing. But to me they are my favorite races on the schedule.
SS racing is no where as good as when they hit the RC's!
I don’t understand why on earth they decided restrictor plates should be at Atlanta. I am a big restrictor plate racing fan, but only on Talladega and Daytona
@@ShinyMew76 yea. Same here. I’m a big fan of talladega. It was a interesting choice for them to turn Atlanta into a plate track.
I’m convinced that Byron and the 24 team ran this race with the intent to spite the NASCAR Weekly Podcast gang 🤣🤣
Kevin is the man!!!!!!! go 4 team!
The broadcasters seem to be not watching the race fully. They were surprised that Harvick pulled away after the last green flag pit stop but he ran larson down from 3 seconds leading up to the last green flag pitstops.
I was watching Kevin chip away all race. Very disappointing, but it's good to see him finding speed early this season.
Sad ending being there in person. The Closer had Hendrick beat until the caution.
Hendrick was the bane of my childhood.
Glad to see they still want me to be miserable
Let's Give Kevin Harvick Some Credit,He Had A Great Car And Had That Race Won He Just Got Burned By A Caution
I would rate this race 70% as well. Good grade. Saw it in person. Started out slow, but as the laps ran on the racing picked up. The lead was never that in question, but there were good battles to watch in the top 10. I think if you get more tire fall off, the racing will improve. Definitely an improvement from last year.
Nice 2nd place finish Decent race I feel like Byron is going to have his breakout season this year and Hendrick Motorsports will win like 18 races I hope Team Penske in general can do better and a nice run for josh berry on to Atalanta
Especially Blaney. I like Blaney.
Quick caution which id expect with Hendrick needing a caution. Burton had the car gathered up and from the shotty coverage on TV it looked like the debris came off his car way after the yellow. It probably needed to come out at that point but nascar continues to show its colours. I’m sure they will show their colours again with a slap on the wrist for them on Tuesday.
Name a more iconic duo than Kyle Busch and Speeding on Pit Lane
Good day for rfk even though finishing position doesn't show it Keslowski was in the top 5 and right outside of it and buescher was right outside of the top 10
Ik it's early in the season but they could both be threats to make the playoffs if we don't have 16 winners
Not going to happen the only race winners will be Chevy the top 16 for the chase will be all chevys
@@davidreitsmajr1140Ford looked okay, Toyota has been decent.
@@easyenetwork2023 sorry I just can't see Ford or Toyota winning this year all 36 races will be won be Chevy hands down and I hope this destroys nascar
I am not a Harvick fan, but he deserved the win today. He searched for the grip, and he worked the traffic well.
Now I'm a Hendrick guy, but I really wanted Harvick to win. NASCAR in my opinion didn't need to throw that caution which crushed Harvick's run.
There was debris on track. He shredded his right front tire into several big chunks.
@@easyenetwork2023 The debris was only on the apron. NASCAR wouldn't have called a caution for that back before overtime existed.
@@marcforget33Yes they would. The apron was being used for passes and it was the front straightaway I believe. But they used the apron to run laps in 1 and 2 too even late in runs.
@@easyenetwork2023 Did you watch races before 2004? They used to stay green through worse than that when there was only 10 to go.
Nascar took away Harvicks 10th Phoenix to create a drama filled restart. Unacceptable.
Harvick showed that a good car with good driver could pass all the way to the front. I give it 7 out of 10
So upset that Harvick didn't get that win :(
Me too my man.. 😢
Same
Me too😢
Agreed
You can thank nascar, Burton and Childers for that all to take away Harvicks deserved win
True SHR struggled early in the day but 3 of 4 cars in the top 15, 2 of 4 in the top 10 SHR solid performance even with the struggles of Briscoe and Preece never had the speed but 4 tires got him there so solid strong day for SHR
25-27th, Briscoe, Almirola, Preece. The SHR Fords outside of Harvick suck.
I have been just listening to the races on mrn/prn for a couple years and sometimes see a few drivers perspective on my cell phone . I think listening to it without seeing it is just as much fun if not better. Oh, and the only reason you were taken back by Mikes statement (I was too) is because you are a keyboard warrior, but from my perspective one of the best podcast . Keep up the good work brother.
As a diehard Hendrick fan, this early domination is bitter sweet. While it's fantastic that Bowman leads the points and Larson and Byron are fast, it pains me that Chase Elliott isn't out there.
Harvick had that race covered
He did, was pulling for him.
Keyword... Had
Their tires are way to good now. They were gripping years ago how the tires have to much fall off and now there's hardly any. I think the tires need to go back and it'll be a totally different race. You'll see the bump and run again.
Did you watch the race today? The tire wear this season has been the best it’s been in a very long time and today was no different. The race today had long runs too where you could see comers and goers… which happens because of tire wear
@@danielchai6145Yes, but I thought it got too spread out at times.
@@easyenetwork2023 lmao that’s what tire wear does😂😂
@@danielchai6145 I did and I didn't say it was the worse. And 6 tenths is not a whole lot of fall off lol. It used to be second's of fall off and whoever saved the best went to the front. That's why harvick was so good and Hamlin back then and Johnson as well.
@@AmericanPoliceCams harvick was so good on long runs cause he only lost 6 tenths when everyone else fell off more. That’s all because of saving tires.
Man if Harvick was in a Hendrick car he may have lapped the field.
i cant believe what happened to harvick this race, worked his way all the way up and got unlucky :/
16:50 yea Harvick had better long run speed lol I wouldn’t give today more than a 70 imo but it went how I expected it to go so not mad about it
I thought it was boring untill Harvick took over but got good at the end!! I’m already over the Hendrick domination😮
Been a Harvick fan since day one, it was cool to here that someone else besides me saw Harvicks race long build up. Thanks
Like it on not, he was the best this day. Be warned, he will make the final 4 this year😃
The lug nut was still on Almirola's car after the wheel came off.
One of the most bs calls on nascars part
Best driver won the race, hands down. Byron is a Stone cold killa
That's two in a row for Byron let's go
Reddick showing he can overcome adversity in b team equipment all day long! Sucked to see MTJ be in a 20th place car at a place he’s great at
I'm a little worried about chemistry in the 5 team after Cliff Daniels bitched at Larson for running high in turns 3 and 4, and then Larson saying he was pissed about losing in the post-race interview.
I agree with you. Kinda caught me off guard from listening to radio then after race. Usually Larson more chilled but he seemed totally stressed!
I have given up on TV broadcast and have been listening to the radio broadcast while watching the top 4 in car cameras. Sometimes when the broadcast talks about different cars moving up I switch to their in car. Seems to be more enjoyable even with commercial breaks I always see what the action is on track.
They took the leauvers and they still won
As a Keselowski fan, that was tough....however , I saw a video his onboard camera where it seemed his car cut out and wasn't under power during the 2nd to last restart. Not sure what happened.
Wood brothers should’ve kept Matty D
Good driver but contravenes came with him and he having a issue with Penske didn’t help.
I said the same thing today
@@John-kx3ngI think he was a distraction too, but he was good compared to Harrison. Though Burton could be learning.
Should have kept Blaney.
@@jamesdeangelo4580They had not choice in that matter. Blaney was a Penske driver, they just needed funding for Ryan to to expand to 3 cars.
I like how Mike Joy seemed to strike a nerve of yours with his dig at keyboard warriors. You're all good, Eric. Thanks for the great update.
the 21 was all alone and caused a caution that shouldn't have happened
Just like the 10 last week.
William Byron has arrived folks
He did last spring too. Hopefully he finds consistently.
He does this all the time but can he stay consistent through the summer and fall unlike previous years?
I'm good with 70% ... It was definitely saved by the last 20 or so laps, which isn't ideal.... But the closing laps made it a solid 70% out of a race that was shaping up to be a 50% at best.
Bottom line I'm a Harvick fan and it sucked that you didn't win but overall I found it to be a pretty good race
First kyle last week, and now Kevin this week get screwed by irrelevant guys running 26th
Berry got a too 10!
If it wasn’t for that late caution Kevin harvick would have won I bet 3-4 seconds ahead. It shows this package today helps the fords I know it really doesn’t show it today but throughout history less downforce fords always dominated. I would love them to use this package at 1.5 mile tracks as well take the restrictor plate off of them I can guarantee fords will be winning left and right but better racing due to more passing and sliding around. But they won’t cause they want to see chevys and Toyotas do well in a high downforce package
What a snoozefest of a race yet another spoonfed win
Not a Harvick fan, but I still would have been "Happy" if he won. Hopefully he gets one or more this year. He deserves it!
I appreciate you mentioning the fox producers being the problem, I hate all the hate for Clint and Mike because they are 2 great personalities that this sport needs. And Clint knows what he's looking at and can call a serious race, but I have a strong feeling that Fox pressures him into leaning into that goofy side too much. Yes I want a fun broadcast, but it needs to be equally propping up the sport as a serious and intense sport. There is a place for everything and I hope they can find that balance if they get the next contract
Clint is good to listen to when is serious, I agree. He has that Benny Parson’s type personality of being good natured and serious too. They need to let him be like Benny and do both well.
@@easyenetwork2023 I love the Benny comparison, that would be a hell of a role for Clint

Another nascar special, that caution button got hit so fast when Burton lost it.
I'm a Larson guy, but don't be surprised if Nascar hands down a mega penalty to HMS concerning the confiscated parts.
I think they should if the parts were divided into 3 pieces when the rule said one whole piece regardless of fit.
Great race in till the end
Groove Gauge: 75 percent (Good, not bad or great)
Whenever there is another race like this, watch out for Almirola. Both Phoenix and Vegas he spun to create a caution. His car might become a caution machine this year.
#5Larson needs a break!
Commanding lead last week with strategy, and just got ruined this week... stupid cautions!
And the way Cliff acted, as you said, was strictly ridiculous! He wasn't driving the car to know how it was handling! Treating your driver bad ain't gonna make him drive better!
Harvick has a AVGF ing 7.8 this season. That’s unreal, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets a win
Disappointed Harvick lost but happy to see Josh Berry do much better this week.
I hear ya
Another problem that no one is talking about is the terrible support of the race on the fox sports app/website. All of of the FOX channel was just unavailable until half way through stage 2 on both the app and website on all devices. I had to try and make do with watching the Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Chase Briscoe on board cameras that were on the site and none of them had synced audio. It was such an awful experience, I straight up gave up trying to watch the race 30 minutes in and eventually tried to tune back in during stage 2. The same problem also happened for the Fontana race 2 weeks ago and they were able to fix it around 10 laps into the race so I didn't miss much, but this time was awful. And it wasn't a problem on my end it was a 404 error which is an http backend error. Fox NEEDS to figure their stuff out NOW because out of 4 races, I've completely missed the pre race and opening for half of them, the onboard cameras are NEVER synced with the audio, and the camera quality is downright terrible(like 480p) or something.
Didn't touch on the Hamlin v chastain tussle during overtime
Ford out ran HMS today, wow, I missed that. Seems to me the first 70% of the race HMS were P 1 and 2. Then finished P 1, 5, 9, and 10.
