    I worked in a Swiss biotech company. The money the company made was unbelievable, €300 billion a year profit. Yes, PROFIT! 💰

    Book ordered. I only started investing in 2018 at nearly 40 but learning so much - anyway I can invest in biotech other than individual companies or global index fund? Is there a ETF?

      Hi there, yes there are Biotech ETFs out there, wouldn't be able to personally recommend as we can't give financial advice but I have seen a list of Biotech ETF's reported by the Motley Fool

      @andrewcraig2183 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Abdul_Rahman86 Without profit - you'd have no progress. TVs cost a year's salary when they first came out. The components for today's iPhone would have cost you about $100 million in the 90s. It's the same with every cutting edge technology. The record of history is that prices then come down as exponential science delivers and companies have to be profitable along the way to achieve that. I've already seen treatments go from costing 7 figures to 6 figures to 5 figures just in the last 10 years. There will be lots more of this and without profit, these companies couldn't raise money from shareholders so none of this would develop at all. More detail in the book...

    I would like to offer, what I hope will be taken as constructive criticism.
    I think the guest plugged his book far too much. I know he using the interview to promote his book, but there is a fine line between promotion and overselling. Adopting this approach shows a lack of respect for the platform.

      Hi Paul, thank you for tuning into the episode, I appreciate it! Also thanks for your feedback, I do understand where you're coming from and I would say that Andrew is very, very passionate about this subject area, especially as it doesn't get a lot of positive coverage as we discussed. I can't speak for him but I don't think he intentionally came onto the platform to oversell his book. Thanks again for your feedback and support it's so valued!

      Thanks for your reply.
      It certainly came across, Andrew was passionate about the ever changing landscape of biotech, and the implications of how this can change health care.
      I'm all for over selling the content of a good book, but I think a guest can tease this out, without the constant reference 'my book, my book.'
      The viewers are aware, the ideas that are being discussed, invariably are thoughts that are covered in the book.
      Once again, thanks for your reply.

    While i commend the other guys channel and his knowledge, the subject of people's health issues is far removed for me based on what i know what natural food and medicine does. This is a further plug that pharma does to make the vulnerable dependent on science hope.
    These initiatives depend much on being naïve, ill disciplined, hindered competency and aptitude by technologies.
    Do we NEED biotech, or guidance to self respect of the human mind and body far more? Why push the responsibility outside of ourselves? These issues are not genetic at all!

      Without modern medicine life expectancy was 30-50 for a reason and it wasn’t due to people ill discipline or naïveté.

    • @colint8259
      @colint8259 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardmunday2608 Sure, mainly in the confines of a bubble called the Western world by design. The Mediterranean diet is held high with the acknowledgement of life expectancy because there is little to no interference with the production of food. Modern medicine had nothing to do with that environment and many other places outside of major cities.

      Right, I’m with you on that on that analysis. As much as I enjoyed listening to the guests submissions, I’m not for over engineering especially when it comes to foods. There are contradictions in the benefits of engineering meat for the good of environment. On one hand, we may consume less livestock, only to consume engineered meat that like any processed food is causing cancers in people, and we’re back to being dependent on pharmaceuticals. You defeat one evil only to feed a bigger one. 🤯
