    I was diagnosed with IBS a little over a year ago by my primary care doctor - she has basically ignored me and my symptoms. I have had intermittent bouts of bulky, light- colored, malodorous stools, constipation, gas, bloating, and periods of normalcy. About a month ago I started to get worse but had no diet or lifestyle changes. I have general malaise, fatigue, stomach tenderness, and brain fog. I am very health conscious and eat properly and exercise and don't drink alcohol or smoke. Yesterday I saw a gastroenterologist and I tried to convince him to do a breath test for SIBO or at least fecal tests and bloodwork for possible leaky gut etc. Especially since I have traveled to 3rd world countries over the past several years. The gastroenterologist dismissed all of that and just ordered a upper GI endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound... I am still miserable and don't know what to do. My insurance is limited and I can't afford to keep seeking new doctors. The gastroenterologist thinks the problem may be my gallbladder! To me, that makes little sense! I am 59 and live in the U.S.

      Same here. IBS diagnosis. Got a 2nd opinion and he was afraid to diagnose anything else. I have similar symptoms as you. I tried a round of rifaximin but it didn't help. So I take prilosec daily, and tums w acetaminophen when things get worser.

      @@Pwrcritter Everything that I have read says that doctors generally prescribe rifaximin first and probiotics... But no, my doctor wants to do the invasive procedures first, instead of what would be much simpler and more logical... I will probably seek a 2cd opinion too.

    This is absolutely insane!!!! I saw my first sign when I was 17. I was in so much pain that I had to go to the hospital. They told me my stomach was just full of gas and to take gas X. I have waited a total of 15hrs until I went to the hospital and was told it was probably just a stomach bug. One day I woke up and I had a rash on both of my hands, it hurts, itches and is embarrassing. I hope that what I've explained helps someone. Thank you so much for making your videos.

    Brilliant info. I bought Dr Davis book Supergut and it has great information. I have suffered from constipation for many years and more recently developed an mmune system issue resulting in doctors prescribing steroids and immunosuppressants. The treatment has been helpful, but I have noticed a significant further improvement from drastically reducing my wheat intake and taking regular probiotic supplements plus yogurt every morning. I never realised that the bowel and immune system issue could be linked. I also stopped swimming in my local community public pool. I think the chlorine started my issues in the first place.

      That made me laugh. Probably right but quality of life is literally in the toilet. I have also been diagnosed with IBS .And have battled it for a quarter of a century. I only leave home once a month ,usually, for groceries. And I have to always map out bathrooms. My doctor told me to get Imodium AD and peppermint capsules. They only treat symptoms. What really drove home the fact that doctors do not heal is when I asked her for an ultrasound of my carotid arteries. She actually chuckled and said, Oh no, we only do an ultrasound if there are symptoms. I was puzzled for a second. So I asked, Aren't the symptoms a stroke? She happily replied, like I was a smart little kid. Yes it is. That was the moment I knew I was on my own. I did have the last chuckle though. I told her I would have the ultrasound and pay for it myself. She had the audacity to tell me to send her a copy. Ha! I asked her where she wanted me to send the bill. She finally showed her true colors and got snotty. hahaha. I'd look for a new doctor but they are all like this. I'll keep looking. Hope springs eternal.

    I made yogurt with Seed's DS-01 Daily Synbiotic from the company Seed. Following the same formula from Dr. Davis but using only one capsule. It came out perfect. But there was a small spot that had a VERY light lilac color. Since it is a prebiotic too, made with pomegranate maybe that's what that color was? I scooped off that lilac color off which was very thin and saw that the rest was perfect.
    When making I cleaned everything very well, I even use 99% alcohol and heat sterilized everything too so I doubt that it was contaminated .Still I did not eat it. I was thinking of remaking it to see if it that lilac color pops up again or not. Any ideas??

    • @Ruktiet
      @Ruktiet ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you suffer from IMO (intestinal methanogen overgrowth), that yoghurt is not going to help AT ALL. If you have actual SIBO (most often due to post-infectious anti-vinculin autoimmunity, leading to autoimmune attack to the vinculin protein in the interstitial cells of Cajal, leading to a reduced migrating motor complex function), get an IBS Smart test to check these anti-vinculin antibodies, and work on your migrating motor complex function by using prokinetics such as prucalopride 0.5mg before bed, at least 4 hours after your last meal, and not snacking in between meals and spacing those meals for at least 4-6 hours.

    • @sav827
      @sav827 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I do have IMO. I do suffer with methane gases with constipation. I ask my doctor for an IBS test, but says if you have SIBO I do not need this test.🤦‍♀️ I disagree and believe they do not fully understand this condition.

    • @Ruktiet
      @Ruktiet ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sav827 you disagreeance is very likely based on nothing. What I tell you is based on cutting edge research from Mark Pimentel at the MAST program in Cedars Sinai university hospital. They found that IMO is most effectively treated by using a combination of rifaximin and neomycin, or metronidazole as an alternative for neomycine. This alleviates the IBS-C symptoms in most cases, and the results are often long-lived, if not permanent. In case of SIBO (which is NOT what you have), antibiotic treatment is often only short-lived in efficacy, because the underlying cause is a reduced function of the migrating motor complex. In case of IMO, the migrating motor complex is not comprimized.
      The test I suggested is called “IBS Smart”; it check for your anti-vinculin antibody concentration to see if you suffer from this post-infectious IBS condition where SIBO is involved. But the fact that you have IMO, and not SIBO, makes this test irrelevant to your case. Your doctor probably does not not about this test, so I think you’re referring to a completely different test.
      So to recap; you need a proper doctor who’s well-read up on the literature of IMO, and should ne treated with rifaximin + neomycin or metronidazole + maybe bismuth subsalycilate if you also suffer from hydrogen sulfide producers on top of the IMO. To check this hydrogen sulfide involvement, you need a Trio Smart breath test, which is only available in the US. If you don’t have access to it, you should check if you suffer from symptoms of it. But is you suffer from constipation only, and your symptoms do not alternate between that and diarrhea, it’s probablt only intestinal methanogen overgrowth. Make sure you know the risks of taking neomycin. Metronidazole has less dangerous side effects, and side effects can be prevented by making sure you have an adequate thiamine (vitamin B1) status. Rifaximin is considered a very safe antibiotic because it’s not absorbed and works only locally. If this antibiotic treatment doesn’t fully eradicate the IMO, you should look into taking long-term herbals such as allicin.
      I highly recommend you watch the youtube video from SIBO SOS’s channel called something similar to “DDW 2023 Mark Pimentel”. You’ll find it on youtube that way.
      Good luck!

    I've had SIBO FOR A LONG LONG TIME . EVERY DOCTOR. An hospital I've been to prescribes Prednisone an increases the dosages up to 80 milligrams. They all would say you have eczema. The steroids gave me roid rage so bad that I got beat up by the cops because my roid rage blew up over a threat they were going to shoot my 5 an a half month old puppy that was off his leash. Where I live the law says they have to be 6 months older or older. To be on a leash. I haven been on Prednisone for almost a year and I still have roid rage. Not as bad as when I was on 80 milligrams. The thing I found out after the trial was over the cop that beat me up had worse roid rage then I had. He was a weight lifting muscle man an would inject steroids. Why are doctors so stupid. It seems like it's all about money. Make the patient sicker to keep him coming back . . steroids.

      What I’ve read is that going zero carb keto is actually what can help as it’s totally eliminates all foods that can contribute to sibo, as some of the veggies you are eating might be fueling the bacteria. Eating only meat and eggs for up to 90 days may make the difference, then slowly adding foods back in to test any intolerances. Worth researching!
