I find building the starting base on the right instead of the left bridge always ends in me living in a hole with no buildable space very quickly especially with the starting hole already over there

Technically you can. Just don't build human infantry 🤷 and if wanna take it further capture a gdi yard and get the tech for juggernauts and mlrs.
