As someone who has been in this same situation, the mindset is indescribable. Anger, pain, sadness, and just absolutely nothing at times. It's so difficult, and how people can willingly bail on their children is beyond me (to be fair, I eventually learned after about a year that the child actually wasn't mine, so I have squared everything away with her since then) nonetheless, it is a absolutely insane thing to experience.
