    In this video I showcase the strength and durability of a Rammed earth wall. It turns out to be that the mason had never experienced this much hardship even in a normal brick built wall!

    Can we build a cantilever with rammed earth? Or do have to use some other material for stability? Please do let me know and thank you for video btw😊

    • @OPTIMAVASU
      @OPTIMAVASU  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think cantilever is possible with Rammed earth. Rammed earth as a structure is used for vertical walls. You could try cantilever using poured earth with steel rod reinforcements. I haven’t tried poured earth for horizontal structures.

    What about the rain effects? I am looking to build a barn in my agricultural area and the constant irrigation around the three sides of the house coupled with a heavy monsoon spell every summer is making me nervous. Please shed some light in the water retention related concerns.

    • @ge2719
      @ge2719 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      well as with any building you your main line of defence against water is making sure the grade of the land means no water runs towards the building. then if it's unavoidable make sure there's a drainage system around it that diverts the water away.
      did you get around to building it yet?

    Instead of cement can we add lime

    • @OPTIMAVASU
      @OPTIMAVASU  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe, but I don’t know the proportion or the time taken for bonding. W.r.t cement the bonding action kicks off in 30 minutes and within 15 days of curing the wall becomes rock solid.

    • @florentcourtois3813
      @florentcourtois3813 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very good question. The answer is yes!!!!!!!! Definitely YESSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!! You should never use cement. A very bad idea because cement keeps water in the walls! It is actually stupid to use cement with earth construction. Lime is natural and will let your walls breath.

    Cut it with an angle grinder. And chisel it with an electric drill on impact mode. One piece will take 15 minutes max.
    These men. know exactly how to kill time.
    Iam pretty much convinced that you have hired them on daily wages basis.

    • @anupdev5845
      @anupdev5845 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ha ha true. I fitted all the doors in my house myself. With an angle grinder and rotary hammer drill in hammer mode, it didn't take more than an hour to make all six of these holes for the door frame. It's actually possible to do it much faster if you can wear a face shield to block out all debris and can see clearly while the angle grinder blows up a dust storm.

    sir we can plaster rammed earth wall by cement plastering and we can paint

    • @OPTIMAVASU
      @OPTIMAVASU  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These walls need no plastering, plastering would rob the thermal property of the wall. Having said that, one can plaster and paint these walls if needed

    • @OPTIMAVASU
      @OPTIMAVASU  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the walls are completely cured, it wouldn’t trap any moisture. After 30 days a wall of good to go, but we should ensure regular watering during that period
