    Love the new changes in the videos. But I must add that I miss the old intro music. Another fantastic review Mr. Brown, all the best!

    Oh that does look like a beautiful pen, we can forgive it for not being able to post. I really like the (as you said) almost Steam Punk look of the finish. In fact, other than the 146/149 standard/classic pens, this is the first MB pen that I have gotten excited about. There's not too much going on and it still looks like a 'classic' pen. WAAAAYYY out of my pen budget, but beautiful and functional.

    I Have Learned so much from your channel Stephan and my parents love all that I have done with calligraphy. My favorite scripts are the Copperplate and Gothic Majuscule. I learned a lot about proper gothic scripts from your older videos, can you please bring back some more of that knowledge? I love it when you teach us about the history of Gothic scripts and how they are supposed to be narrow, gaps are the width of the nib, and all points of a letter point up to God in the heavens... Thanks Stephan! wishing you the best to you and Azizah :)!!!

    Great review as usual. The folks at MB must have a lot of fun designing these special edition pens.

    For all of M'B's Writer's editions, this has to be a favourite. Whilst there's a degree of metalwork in-situ, it is not over abundant. I like the colouration of the barrel & cap, & particularly agree, Stephen, with the elongated piston knob. I consider, whether you care for (this) author or not, it holds an appropriate 'nod' to both his writing & adventurous exploits. Granted, it is an expensive piece, but again, the attention to detail is just enough (& here I disagree with Stephen, I found the 'William Shakespeare; model over indulgent with references - there are already too many plays & other scriptures to fit onto a single implement).
    I really enjoyed this review, Stephen, thank you !! :D

    I am one who likes de Saint Exupery, particularly his aviation works, and this pen was anticipated eagerly. So said, I don't think it compares with, say, the Shakespeare pen. Maybe it needed wings and an open cockpit, I dunno. Maybe it needed more references to the sand, sea and stars? It looks like it was inspired by a boiler or a battleship and de Saint Exupery was such a butterfly of a soul, so I can't give Montblanc the usual thumbs up. I hope they continue their writer's edition pen series though. The aforementioned Shakespeare and the Hemmingway were very good issues.

    Could you remember the twist on the inside of the cap? If it's plastic like Shakespeare or they improve that into metal now?

    Nice review, thank you.
    Still, I just don't like his books enough to seriously think about buying one of these. How about a Tolkien - Writers Edition? If only someone could come up with a good idea for the capband on that... ;-)

      In regard to Tolkein, runes would be (my) ideal - emblematic of 'Middle Earth', & naturally, the wizard, Gandalf. The five rings on the top finial, perhaps ? :)

    I got a very old Mont blanc 146 fountain pen from my uncle. It's buttery smooth.

    What a piece! And nice presentation as usual.

    One of the reasons I like a fountain pen is that I dislike the waste which comes with disposable pens. Now seeing the amount of packaging which shrouds this pen I wonder if I'm backing the wrong horse! It looks like much of the packaging is paper or card, which is recyclable, which is something, I suppose.

    • @PhilipKingLondon
      @PhilipKingLondon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just reached the point in the video where the price is mentioned! I doubt the waste or otherwise of the packaging is ever likely to be a concern or mine! Good luck to anyone who can afford to spend such a sum on a pen, you live in a different world to mine.

      I typically keep all the packaging that my (esp. nicer) pens come in. I usually don’t store the pen in its OP, but I consider it part of the overall presentation, & I set it aside in case I ever need to ship it or keep it safe during moves, et ceterra.

    I think the Limited version to 1931 looks much better, maybe you can make a review to this pen?

    You always pick on the Montblanc price policy but you should also mention that Writers Editions hold their value rock solid.

    Is youtube penalising those of us who aren't subscribing to YT red? Every bloody time I try to watch in full screen or theatre mode it stops and hangs. Really wanted to see this pen full screen but normal size isn't a big deal, just won't let me see as close as I'd like.

    I AM SHOCKED AT TO THE MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE WHINING ABOUT YOUR INTRO MUSIC....I NEVER KNEW PEOPLE COULD BE SO SMALL AND PETTY AND TRY TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE PRESENTATION OF THE REVIEW....THEY SHOULD BE DISCUSSING THE REVIEW IF THEY ARE TRUE MONTBLANC WRITERS EDITION COLLECTORS.
    LOVE YOUR REVIEWS....WILL YOU DO ONE ON THE HONORE DE BALZAC ONE DAY....

    So there are such things as "Writer's Edition". Have someone ever wondered when J.K. Rowling will be featured in these pens?

    PLEASE go back to your old intro! This music just isn't working for me! It may be open and free to use, but it's basically Chef John's at this point.

    A pen that doesn't post is not a pen - it's a stick

  • @greasypetes

    For that kind of money it should be 24 kt. gold , after all its merely a pen and not a work of art. I have some 10 dollar pens that write every bit as good if not better and if I had a Mont blanc it still would not make me feel I was part of the elite

    • @vopvoopone
      @vopvoopone 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      greasypetes You don't want 24k gold, it's too soft for a nib. Saying that it's a pen, not a piece of art is wrong because art is subjective. Besides, Montblanc makes amazing pens and sure they're overpriced, but if people are willing to pay for it then they should go for it.
