There are comments agreeing but most of them are replies. And i have to also agree with them since theres other traps you can use, you can also use poisoned corn or if you don't want that you can just get a pet cat or two. Usually people just use poisoned corn (at least where i come from) so the trap is kinda strange.

I mean, I suggest using traps that at least kill the rat/mice faster so they don’t have to deal with the pain of being stuck in a glue trap for maybe days or hours. Or you could use traps that keep it alive, take it somewhere far away from your house, and release it.

I'm not for the torture of infliction of pain and death on anything. We also have to recognize the damage that mice can do and potential hazards they cause. Not to mention, they are not human, therefore there is no humane way to interact with them. In the wild they face a host of predators. Humans have created their own environment due to our ability to reason and make deductions. We are weaker than a lot of animals, but our ability to use tools, and bind together to allow specializing in skills has manifested in the creation of such traps. It isn't for fun, but mice cannot be allowed to linger in a residential area. Sorry, but mice that run into an alpha environment will be rejected by any means necessary. This is just as natural as a cat killing it in a yard. We don't have the claws or reflexes, so rely on intellect to find ways of doing the same thing. Does a bull worry about the things he gores with his horns? No he protects his realm. Humans do the same.

I saved one a few hours ago.
I am very much into rodent control. We don't want them where we absolutely do not want them.
I got it unstuck. A baby. It took me about 5 minutes, with olive oil, to very very gently loosen first its front and rear paws, its tail, then the bottom part of its body. There is real cruelty in the making of such a device. And also I think in someone's willing to use such a device.
That was a precious, beautiful little being, no doubt about it. A sentient intelligent being who obviously wanted to live. I have no doubt about it. A being who is able to think, and definitely has feelings.
About 35 minutes to ensure its fur wasn't totally soaked, that it was on some dry paper towels, in a warm place, with a little bit of food to eat, in a container it wouldn't be able to get out of.
It got better and better! From being right next to being unable to move , to being able to sit!

A better way to do it: 1. Don’t use glue traps bc it is painful for them and last a lot of days of pain but using the traps that snaps on them is better bc it cuts them in half or squishes them so it’s a faster way to die but still lots of pain and suffering but but faster way to die and better bc less suffering bc of faster death. Think about it. I recommend you put it in a spot that mice could get to but not kids so whatever they put in there that is their parts like fingers won’t end up like mice and don’t let those toys go in there or the toys may suffer for days bc them toy cars are metal and is stronger so it’s gonna take longer to get crushed for the toys…

When my boys were young I used glue traps to catch the enormous house spiders I was so afraid would bite them. I would cut up the traps & fold them so I could use 3 for every 1. I checked them everyday & being a softy I am if I found a bug or spider in I'd fold it down & step on it smashing whatever was suffering(I figured mostly from thirst!) inside. One day I came home from work & found the largest spider I had ever seen in person caught in one of those traps. It was weak but still trying desperately leg by leg to free itself of that horrible deathtrap. I felt so guilty, with an exacto razor blade I spent the next couple hours meticulously removing each foot pad one by one from the trap until it was free. Each foot that was removed from the stick was placed in a tiny square of paper I'd cut out specifically for that foot. Once I got all 8 legs free I then was not about to let this enormous spider go so I kept it in a spider container I had but sadly after a couple days it died probably from the trauma of the trap? Who knows but that was the last sticky trap I used.

PETA has a point with this one. Even though mice are pests and can cause many problems for humans, there's no need to force the animal to suffer so long just for trying to survive. Snap traps are cheap and so is peanut butter. I'd rather give the creature lights out in an instant than force them to sit stuck, scared, alone and starving.

How do spiders trap their pray? Also we do catch flies by sticky paper and the fish get stuck to the net and starve. The difference might be that hunters and firhermen sgould check their traps daily basis and they do not just leave those there. Also the predators will eat up their pray at once.
But yes, glue traps are not flexible like spider web and tear parts like tongues away, which is cruel.
