  • I'm back, after an unplanned hiatus, with a knitting podcast episode. In this video I share everything I've knitted on in February and March. There's some finished socks, some holey socks and progress on my Penguono. I'm also hoping you can help me with my 'Sophie Scarf' by Petite Knit and ideas for what you'd do with a textured lock-spun yarn.
I'm Amy, a knitter, spinner, weaver... all round natural crafter. I'm on a journey learning as much as I can about wool and all the amazing things we can do with it.

I would use the teewater-yarn for trim, like a cuff on mittens or a collar and cuff. It looks lovely.

I always so enjoy your video's! Try wearing your sophie scarf with a shawl pin, like The Knit Purl Girl wears her Pippin scarfs in the pattern pictures. As for the teewater yarn, your swatch really reminds me of a knit project my mum once did, which was a very textured fabric which she felted, and then made home decor from. That felted fabric would also be great to have a cardigan/jacket of!

Amy, thanks for a very enjoyable episode. I love your penguono. As you seem to wear holes on the sole of your sock, an idea would be to replicate the texture on a heel flap just on the ball of your foot for about 30 rows. So slip 1, knit 1 across, then on the next round just knit those stitches. This makes a lovely soft but durable fabric which should last a lot longer. The teeswater would look lovely in a cowl so that the Fibres beauty can be seen and admired. If it was my Sophie scarf I would rip it out, use a bigger needle for drape and then use all that lovely brown mixed breed yarn

I knit the Sofie Scarf with some dk yarn that was 50% wool and 50% silk.. I ran out of the yarn and had to knit about a quarter in a different colour. Mine came out a bit dense too. I fold mine in half longways and tie it loosely . I'm knitting a second with some different dk wool (can't find the ball band atm) on larger needles to see if that makes a difference.. Thanks for the podcast. Jane.

Thanks for the comment ❤️ yeah I am thinking I might reknit it on larger needles, at least we get to enjoy the knitting process twice then 😂
