Hey guys, how's it going? Chris Connor here and welcome to another episode of filmmaker reacts for my channel. Seat back, relax and lets study the filmmaking techniques as well as talk about what visual effects can be pulled of within after effects! This week we are reacting and taking a look at two LEAGUE OF LEGENDS K/DA I'LL SHOW YOU CONCEPT cinematic trailers!

the whole time ahri was singing to herself, frozen in thought, hence, the empty rooms and stage. In reality there could be people there with her, but the video showed the thoughts, fears, and doubts running inside her head, (lyrics: "Stuck in a place between the space of heart and mind", etc. etc.) she was at constant war with herself, that's why she was alone the whole time. But in the end she smiled at her old photo from where she started as an idol, seeing it brought her to ease as she remembered her journey and how she fought, reminiscing at her past and reminding herself of how much she had grown since then, how proud her old self must have been to see her current self. It was a reminder to keep moving, to love yourself. What a motivating beautiful song and video indeed. Its just kda lore amazing video

Twice is featured here, the song is mixed Korean and English, sang by Jihyo, Nayeon, Sana, Chaeyoung from Twice; Bekuh Boom and Annika Wells, if your intrested to the singers those are their names; now for the story:
Ahri started her career as an idol in very young age, she was sad because she missed her teenage and young adult life, being free and doing things she likes, because she is an idol and she can't focus on both living her life and being an idol, that is why the photo of her being a teenager and staring on her reflection is always seen, but she realizes that she can do both living her life and being an idol, with the help of her freinds Akali, Evelynn, Kai'sa, Ahri managed to be happy and fight her anxiety, counter her sadness, face her fears and show her talent to everyone and be happy with her life, thats why its entitled I'll Show You.
Edit: Thankyou so much for the likes, and yes Riot released special information about KDA, which shows that Ahri started her career in a very young age and also I watched Necrit's KDA lore which explained everything.

I think I'll Show You actually means nobody anticipates her comeback because she steps on a flyer saying that pop/stars is a one hit wonder, meaning she proves everybody wrong with MORE and The Baddest
In my opinion, song is very good, because when video shows true face of Ahri, music shows how the fans see her (as confident, determined).
Evelynn's video was still better
Actually I think that is how she is now because remember a few years ago they showed her in the laundry room scene, which in Korea means transformation and change, so she is different than how she used to be.

This concept MV is somber because it is a reflection of Ahri’s fears.
What she previously went through when she decided to leave her “bubblegum” image, and pursue the K/DA image she has now.
Some say that the song is to cheer herself up. Hence the “I’ll show you what I’m made of”...

its like the 2020 worlds performance. there is like that 10 second scene with evelynn that looks pretty decent. sort of as if they poured 95% of the budget into those scenes while kai'sa seemingly got like >1% of the budget lol

When Pop Stars got released the whole league community was shook,as it was the best song and music video so far,and then became famous to the rest of the world.It was so big,that releasing another K/DA song would have to be carefully and perfectly executed,otherwise it would flop and get compared to the original.That is the reason Ahri feels sad,since she's constantly trying to prove to everyone that she can be something more than just an one-hit wonder;as the paper she stepped on in the rain suggested sometime in the video.So to sum up,she's fighting her fears and insecurity of failing everyone regarding the success of Pop Stars,and be recognized as a whole person and not just one-dimensional.

I might be thinking about this too much but ahri as like the main person like the leader of KDA has fears and insecurities of the group failing, reasoning in the lyrics 'ill show you what I'm made of' and her constatnly having memories of her younger self and how she isnt the same way she is right now. Aswell as those 'freeze', 'fear' of her falling those parts of the video are what are important.
One cannot separate Ahris' melancholic and insecurity self apart from her multiverse personas. Star guardian Ahri and even spirit blossom, they both have this kinda mysterious and guilty aura that matches with her aesthetics. I think this is a very deep part of her that transcends universes.
The tragedy of being a fox spirit, every story about fox has this touch of sadness.

In this dark period caused by the pandemic, KDA has been a breath of clean air for me, every video and every work on them is something incredible, I love this group and I am proud to be a fan of them
Ahri is Korean in the KDA universe. She’s singing in Korean, and English! It’s actually 6 different women singing the song. She’s sad because her whole song is about how her music career started in a way she didn’t like, it made her sad to be someone she really wasn’t and it took her a lot of work to break free. When she separated from her previous singing career, and what she didn’t like to be; people doubted her and said she wouldn’t be anything. The song is about her breaking away from her past, and being successful as her. It’s about her finding freedom, success and ultimately happiness with her friends (the other members of KDA).

So like Kda universe summed up
Ahri was your basic pop/star in 4:46. She lost herself under the pressure of the music industry. She quit and tried music her own way creating the band Kda. Fun fact Kda stand for Kills, Deaths, Assists which is a scoring system in the game. They were big but it was only one song hence the one hit wonder magazine. So this song was showing struggle in finding herself. Towards the end when she is looking at her old self singing reminded herself on why she starting singing and founder herself again. Also in game she is called Ahri the nine tails fox and always has nine tails it’s just all clumped up to look like one. I think the animators just didn’t want to animate all of them.
Evelynn She was kinda just a singer and probably was a stripper. In game she is a literal succubus that lures people in with the promise of love then like kills them. With her amazing talons. Also she can camouflage with all that smoke.
Kai’sa in game was a girl who got suck into the void which is basically hell. A monster merged with her and she became hot. Jk she got a second skin which protected her. He also got those cool rockets on her shoulders which are floating things. She is a very mobile champion so they made her the dancer.
Akali. She is an assasin in game so they make her buff and more gangster. That’s kinda all I have to say.
I also prefere the Evelynn video, it had so many sick animations going on. However the one at 4:56 in this one was dope af. The musik tho is just not my type i guess
Ari here reminds me of someone who started humble but suddenly exploded with her singing group but now misses her old, simple life.

Chris is the only youtuber, where i always watch his advertisement parts, because he always tries to implement them as good as possible and i think it's very interesting how he promotes it. Also been using GX since 4-5 months now, already deleted chrome because i really prefer this browser over all others.
It really shocked me that the song is that energetic but the videoclip was just straight up depression. I hoped to see her happy at the end with her friends but it didn't happened :( And yes! She is singing in Korean. She is confirmed to be korean in the K/DA universe, and Akali too.
Also she is based in the korean myth "kumiho". A fox that, living thousands of years acquires the ability of shape-shifting and can turn into a woman. Then they seduce men and basically eat their vital energy and heart to keep their longevity.
I actually never though of the song as like that.. The meaning of the song actual hits me
@@francesoriola9136 the song is a fight song. Speaks of how she is going to overcome the frear and doubts that had been hunting her down since she started her carrier. But that never happens in the video. She looks afraid, upset and confused all the time and doesn't really shows "what she is made of" or overcome those fears. Idk what they tried to do with the clip but i didnt liked it.

@@Threshk i agree. Akali looks asian but should be japanese though, not korean. She has an emote eating ramen and a skin called "sashimi" witch is also a Japanese dish. They pulled up the "they are korean" card so they can say it is kpop. Seraphine doesn't look chinese too, but riot sais she is.

if you really like the korean singer, its three members of the group twice- id highly recommend a couple of their mvs, amazing cinematography!! talk that talk, fancy, i cant stop me, more & more are all great ones!
The video/song is about depression/dealing with toxic fans. Ahri herself being shy, not having the job she liked, and even after she formed K/DA with the other girls and got a hit (Popstars): You can see the newspaper "One hit wonder?", people trying to bring you down or not seeing what work you put in. Ahri's song is about overcoming all this, not letting others tell you how to live, and becoming the person you want to be.

Just so you know, Ahri's KDA story is that she was a big time solo artist that worked for a massive company who forced her to change her hair color, sing the songs they wrote and alter her entire identity to fit their public narrative for her until she finally said enough and broke away. When she left she got her friends together and created KDA but the company and all her music producers said she would fail, and when the first KDA song comes out even the tabloids called them a one hit wonder and that they wouldn't have a comeback. This video is ahri looking at her old self and how far she's come with KDA
This is an example what companies and fans want's from the artist (happy song + weird and unconfortable but stunning looks) without caring about their feelings and what they really wanted to do. (Ahri watching herself before being a popstar and her own dreams Vs now feeling not satisfied at all, kind of a reality of some artist especially Korean idols or music groups).
Wow Connor nice video, Ahri was originally an Idol from Korea, and it's told that she started the career too young, and now she's on the top of her career, but she's it's sad because she realized that she had lose her Teenage and Young Adult part of life, and she's it's now reflecting over that.

So, it does portray that she is un-happy with her cileb life, with the fact that she feels alone @ 5:05 and her missing somone loved (Kid?) @ 6:35 , it also shows her friends @4:08 , so this vid is screaming the fact that she is sad with Celeb life, and wants to be with friends and family more than ever... I hope he reads this, welp, if people see this and agree, hit the thumbs up so he can see this please, and thank you! :)
Her song is about self doubt and depression. When she first started out as a popstar (what she always wanted to be) she was with producers who forced her to sing lyrics that weren't her own, color her hair etc. It's about having the strength to choose other paths if YOU aren't happy with the way things are going. But even after forming K/DA with the other girls you have toxic environments (media trying to bring you down "onehit wonder?") and even if u are someone else on the outside (what fans can see) it doesn't mean everything is fine inside (seeing "behind the scenes" in the MV).
jihyo sings the most here and she as an absolute QUEEN from a very good girl group called TWICE
This video shows how Ahri is fighting with the pressure of sudden success which POP/STARS gave her. Also, Ahri being closed in a neon ball may also be a reference that KDA Ahri sang for a company before becoming an independent artist. Ahri was unhappy with the said company because they closely monitored her lifestyle and limited her creativity. The Nine-Tails Transformation may signify that Ahri is fighting her fears that she has about her career choice, like for example, she doubts that she might not be able to keep the quality bar as high as POP/STARS and one day her group might scatter. Overall, this song shows that being an idol to millions of fans is not all fun and games as there is the media (notice the "One Hit Wonders?" newspaper) and some haters always trying to drag you down and make you question yourself for the wrong reasons.

Earlier she started her solo career as a pop/star, the skin is seen on one of the posters, she said she hasn't been herself, words she had to sing weren't her own, her look wasn't hers. That's the past she wanted to escape. Somewhere in the song, it is sang that it used to be "bad" but everything is okay now, when she started her own group with evelyn. After their 1st song people had their doubts about that it is just one hit and they will be forgotten. But as we can see they didnt give up and gave us other songs.
The concept video screams "Juxtaposition" . Both Runeterra's Ahri and K/DA Ahri have been through an existential crisis at some point.

people always see ahri as playful, cheeky, on the move, but this piece showed us how she felt alone (even from her lore) and her journey as the first popstar in LOL.

Ok. At 4:47ish with the side view of lower legs while walking I'm very impressed with the graphic designers' ability with regard to walking. So many GD's and GA's let the foot land too soon where you're left with an angled heal and toe landing together. Here the artist(s) exemplify and exaggerate that lower leg kick before the heal hits the ground, In fact it seems a little to well done. Almost as if it to point out to other designers and artists "ya we nailed it, we added an extra frame so you can see how we really nailed it"!! The rest of the video though has stiff hair flow and uneven sway when showing walking from behind etc. These animations are short lived it seems to hide the inaccuracies,
Chris you refer to lens elements. First off this is anime. As with so many anime facial constructs the face you see is actually portraying no expression. But you see sadness. I see a clean slate. A place from which one could start or even start over. The mood of the music seems to say that as well. I think you've missed the point all together. Watch it again but get away from your expectations.
Ya you use atmospheric fog otherwise known as fog but all of your uses of reflection as if standing on water are way off. A lot of your earlier work about which I have commented either lacks a consistent light source or is simply way off no matter the origin of the light causing your reflections.
So you really didn't see her smile at the end. Like I said, watch it again. TMD
K/DA songs and other League songs are usually sang English, Korean or Chinese. So foreign language? Narrate it to Korean or Chinese. The last step is to either hear the difference (I can hear it instantly) or just look if there are words/characters. In this video there were Korean words and they are very different from Chinese characters so yeah..

Actually, The Xayah & Rakan cinematic 'the wild magic' is wonderful and you ahould definately watch it.
This one went right over your head. Is not just about the effects used -kinda the less important point of all of it-, but the message and how it was portrayed, there are a lot of symbolism as well just plain showing about what's going on on her head during this song. Short version: Popstars = huge hit. No success after, them being considered one hit wonders. Depression. Picking herself up and breaking free of those feelings, rising the new success.
Hey Chris, I enjoy your videos a lot and I think you would like any Diablo 3 cinematic (my favorites being Tyrael's sacrifice and Reaper of Souls, which I recommend the most). But it really does not matter which one you choose, since all of them are amazing in my opinion.

League likes to do this thing where they mix Korean and English in the same sentence and make it rhyme like in akali’s raps, that is why without subtitles it’s a bit confusing to understand.
World of Warcraft Warbringers is 3 videos that experty use color and atmosphere and should be highly recommended by all fans of WoW cinematics.
You have to read the comic of kda, read the lyrics of the song and you'll understand why she looks so depressed and why this is the best video of all
Didn't expect that one so fast ! Just to let you know, when listening to Riot's music you can use the subtitle function. Their team does a good job to even translate the Korean lyrics so you can fully understand the story.
Ahri is bilingual she sings in Korean & English, I could be wrong but I believe her preference is to speak in Korean based on “interviews” where she speaks in Korean while other members paraphrase for her. (Remembering from two years ago)

Why do most people feel like there's an automatic need to compare? They're called concept videos for a reason because, regardless of what you believe about the assets availability, each video released about the girls so far are conceptualized to tell the story of that particular character (such as their personality and back story).
In MY opinion, they can all be great by themselves without the need to pit them against one another. You can appreciate the dark seductiveness of Evelyn's "Villain" while also admiring the vulnerability and identity struggle of Ahri's "I'll Show You". Not everything's gotta be a damn competition 💯
You should react to some more World of Warcraft cinematics and animated shorts! There are a lot of them, but they are amazing and tell a story. Would love to hear your break downs on more of those!

i hope you read this as i have been enjoying your reactions and analysis videos on these trailers and i hope you react to fall of cybertron's the humbling river because it shows so much emotion without having any of the characters talking and the ruin caused by war between the transformers, if you watch you will understand what i am talking about so please watch it.
You should watch it again with lyrics. That makes it look a lot diferent
Well Evelynns was an actual music video but this thing for Ahri was just a concept video, it even says in the video title.
If you want to see the default Ahri, you should go watch A New Dawn. It's an older cinematic, but it's still very good.
They usually spend more on Evelyn than other kda champions, happened the same in Worlds 2020 in which Kai'sa and Ahri were looking more Asian than they're supposed to be
I think they were trying to show Ahri gaining her confidence after so many sad times and let downs. Obviously she seems sad the whole video but I think bc of the lyrics that the video is showing her looking at what she’s done in the past and how she feels after much negativity but that it isn’t the end of her and that she has more to show.
