Jess, I would absolutely love a shirt with “I eat garlic like vampires are real”! I got a real kick when you said that. Love all you do! ❤
Eggs! Different ways to use up eggs. Spring just sprung and I'm getting a dozen every couple of days! Help!! 😂😂😂
I've been waiting for the dandelion jam video.❤please and thank you
I'm disappointed in the thousands of people that watched this but did not click like. I always learn something from you Jess, and I appreciate your heart and soul that you pour into all these channels!
I know some that watch TH-cam on TV & do not realize they can click like there as well. Had several friends/family do the same until I showed them how to do it. 😊
It's the best way to support a channel & it doesn't cost us a thing❤
I think the little reference videos would be a wonderful bonus, but what I love about your videos is that we hang out that you talk? I know you talk to us, but it feels like you talk with us so for me the longer your videos, the better always, but having some quick reference ones for like making mayo etc. great idea but as long as they don’t replace your regular videos😊. Love you, Jess and your family and your amazing friends and connections. Thank you for enriching my life in every possible way including spiritually❣️❣️❣️
Yeah I’m still planning on doing the long format too at least once or twice a week but the short ones would fill the space between
Maybe a quick one on condiments, or one condiment, like mustard, ketchup, or ranch dressing. I especially get stuck with mustard, how to make it. I don't want to buy all of them in the store anymore. Thanks, Jess--those pickled veggies look so good! How do you wait??💖
Some short tutorial ideas:
Baking powder
Self rising flour
Biscuit mix
Corn bread mix
Pasta sauce
Gravy
Pie crust
Distilled white vinegar or equivalent. Paying ~$5 gallon locally in Southern VT.
Add cream of soups because that’s usually a staple in casseroles and it’s soooooo hard to find good gluten free ones!
Watching you grab from the garden and use immediately is exactly what needs to be expressed to our world right now, so always quick and easy ways to prep your garden produce to feed your family quick and easy. Salad dressings, seasonings for roasted veg, sauteed veg, grilled veg, whatever it might look like. Unique ways to reheat leftovers, you used to do fritattas or quiches, showing thoae in short format, your teas with the herbs. Different ways you use up your milks, goat or cow.
quick reference ideas- how to boil farm fresh eggs that are peel-able, how to make sour cream, spice blends, coffee creamer, flavored salt mixes, pickling red onions (you made me have a craving so thank you lol)
If you have an instant pot, I hear cooking them under pressure is the trick to getting them to peel when the eggs are fresh. I like using my IP so I don’t have to watch them so closely.
I just learned this after 76 years.... To easily peel eggs, I now put my eggs in a double boiler pot and steam them for 11 minutes, then plunge into ice water. I sure wish I learned this a looooong time ago!
Videos on all the mixes one can get at the store…brownies, cookies, cake mix, gravies (beef, chicken, veggie), instant potatoes (with flavors), dressing mixes (ready to add liquid) like ranch, herb dressing…!!! Love your teaching style
Please don’t forget the chili oil!
I love that you're long winded! (I am too 😂) I actually am super disappointed when your videos are short!
Jess, if you have time, dry a bunch of your excess hot peppers this year and then you can put them in the pickle brine with your herbs
Jess, i don't call it long winded! I call it a GIFT of gab😊 my mana gave this gift to several of her 8 children ❤
Thankfully this gift helped me through 20 years of experiences with customers😊
These same customers recognize me after being retired for six years. 🙃
I am loving this addition to the R&R channel ♥️ Thanks Jess!
@@HalleluYahfarm she’s the mom and sister some people never had and/or needed ♥️ the friend we all can “chat with” while we grow and learn to be less of what the world is and more of what sustainability and simplicity was/is.
@@asiajo1010 I couldn't agree more! I have loved following her journey and she helped me step into mine. I learned so much from following roots and refuge for a couple years and now all the recipes we've seen time and again plus more and tips in one spot oh man it's golden!!
@@HalleluYahfarm What a lovely way to say it! "I have loved following her journey and she helped me step into mine."
Hi Jess! I would LOVE quick tutorials about how to caramelize onions, how to make pickling brines, roux and sauces, marinades, and anything else you might assume we all know how to add that extra kick to our simple cooking (that we probably don’t know!) thank you in advance 🙏🏽
Jess bringing sunshine to the day. Many blessings
Love this channel. I would also love to see more on what to do with herbs...like how to preserve and use without a freeze dryer or dehydrator. Thanks Jess❤
You should totally have a table at the farmer's market for your t-shirts and other merch.
Three reference videos that I'd like you to make are:
1) Teas using herbs, flowers and fruits from the garden
2) How to make a sourdough starter
3) Fermentation of produce other than cabbage
Thank you!
I learned how to do quick pickles from your R&R channel a few years ago. One of the best skills I've ever learned! Thank you so much!
Funny I always think your videos are too short. I love finding videos pop up with you on your farm in the kitchen in your greenhouse everywhere!
I would love a short reference video on making broth! I know it’s probably really simple for most people, but I’m very new to making things that my family always bought at the store and I’m learning to use up the things I grow. Thank you for all your help and instruction!
I’m so excited for fresh farm to table meals again as spring arrives here in northern Illinois.
Iv been watching you for 5-6 years. I just want you to know how much I appreciate you and your family. You are an amazing person
I am not a fan of shorts but do like the idea of shorter videos about mayonnaise and such. That being said, I have been a huge fan of your “long winded” 🤣 videos for years!
When you started this channel, I have been so looking forward to you showing us how to just grab from the garden and farm and make dinner so we can all get ideas on how to use our bounty - this was great! Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Would be to have each of your kids cook with you their favorites. Love getting kid friendly meal ideas and how to involve them
When basil is plentiful this summer, your basil tea would be a good quick reference video.
I have KNOWN long winded. You are not long winded. You are thorough and it is appreciated!
I feel like that needs to go on merch-"I eat garlic like vampires are a real threat"
I know you already have a popcorn recipe video on R&R, but I definitely think that's worth doing again here. Your fried egg technique is genius, and also worth doing again.
Any type of video will be useful. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Have a great day!
Love the short 5 min reference video ideas!! How about 1 - Salad Dressings: Oil & Vinegar, Ranch, French; 2 - Roasted Garden Hauls: Carrots, Potatoes, Beets, Asparagus, Green Beans, Cauliflower ...; 3 - Herbed Butters: Sweet and Savory; 4 - Precious Kitchenware Care: Cast Iron Pans, Knives, Wood cutting boards.... Thank you so, so, so much for your heartfelt, honest and caring advice and thoughts. Looking forward to watching you for the next 50 years!!
I’d love to see recipes for salad dressing, jams/jellies with recipes that can be canned, easy sourdough, spaghetti sauce, pesto, sour cream and anything else you would like to teach.
Have loved your first channel and find your new channel fun and informative… and I love your gift for gab and waxing poetic! Look forward to my daily breaks watching your videos with a cup of tea!
Keep doing what you’re doing! Love it!!!
Love it! This may not be as quick reference as you’re wanting but I’d love a video all about teas. How exactly to harvest different plants (what parts of them to use), how to dry, what you can pick & steep fresh, what combos go well together! Also, when will the next merch run be? Definitely ordering that tomato shirt next time it’s available again!
Would love a quick video on tomato sauce, paste and tomato soup. Also, quick videos on making broths, veggie, chicken, beef. Love your channels!
I’d love to see more quick and simple dinners! Watching your spatchcock chicken video has changed my life!
I had no clue you had this channel. I’ve watched roots and refuge off and on and knew you had many changes coming. I’m so happy I came across this.
Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much from you and look forward to more tutorials! I’ve just recently started watching. You have a wonderful personality. You are like a breath of fresh air!
Beautiful pickles; thanks for sharing a bunch of knowledge in a friendly, but detailed way! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
Yes those reference videos wouldbe AMAZING AND A BLESSING❤
You saying I think I need a bigger basket is like the famous line in the movie "Jaws". "I think we need a bigger boat." LOL!!!
I would love to learn how to make all condiments. Mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, soya sauce, mayo etc. They are getting so expensive that I think it might be cheaper to make our own.
Yes, please do some quick tutorial videos! Even if you don't make them into printable recipes, I watch and keep a notebook of "quick base recipes" for reference. So helpful!
I never thought of pickled veggies like that! I can’t wait to plant my garden!
Quick reference ideas! I love it!
How to steam veggies.
How to cook different cuts of meat/beef the right way.
I make this giardiniera all the time and add it to my lunch salad bowl. It's delicious❤
An Assyrian friend gave us her recipe for a curry pickle with very similar veggies like cauliflower, garlic, carrots, bell peppers etc., but it also had pickled mango added in. It was soooo delicious. I've since lost the recipe, but someday when I can finally get a head of cauliflower growing, I'm going to try and remake it from memory.
I live in a townhome so I can’t homestead but learning things like pickling, making mayonnaise/ranch…. It’s helpful and I love your tutorials ❤
I love eating pickled watermelon rind, just a thought for a video when they're in season.
I love the idea of reference videos! You're vanilla video got me to finally make some myself. You are inspirational.
I would love to see some basic bread recipes, mayo, simple sauce recipes, and uses for the herbs that you grow.
I’m loving this channel and the info on preserving. I would love to also see canning videos on doing jars of garlic, onion or diced tomatoes with diced onions or garlic with them.
FeedBack 4 shorts
Different salad dressings.
Thanks Jess for genuinely caring for people. Abundant Blessings to you and your family.
I'm just learning, so any thing is good to go. Thanks for all that you do.
Love fridge pickled veggies! Your carrots are beautiful! We are growing carrots for the fist time this year!
That shirt is sooo cute ☺️ I love the short instructional video idea. Your tip on soaking was so helpful!
Basic gravies (sausage, country, brown) and gravy bases (for chicken pot pie, cream soups, SOS). Love your new channel Jess!
This was fun! Do you ever pickle your eggs? My family loves them! It would be great to see a video of how you make them. In my experience everyone does them quite differently.
There’s a lot of comments so I apologize if this has already been said but I would love to know exactly how to use sourdough discard in other recipes. On most videos all I hear is to just use the it with your_____recipe but there usually isn’t an explanation as to how you do it. Thanks for such amazing videos!
I grew romanesco cauliflower for the first time this fall! We absolutely loved it! I will definitely grow it again next year.
Enjoying your new channel. Sauces, dressings, mayo, spice mixes or seasonings that you use are all good ideas! Of course with all of the garlic you like! 😃
I just made pickled shaved carrots for my bbq chicken sandwich today. Only sat for maybe an hour, they were delicious.
Red onion quick pickles are a must have in my sandwiches and SOOOOO easy to make but make all the difference! YUM
My favorite pickle was an experiment last summer. I used cucumbers, carrots, green beans, garlic, dill, Pepperoncini peppers from the garden. The brine was salt and 75/25 white vinegar and water. I did can it and have enjoyed it all winter.
I’m growing all kinds of veggies this year and would love to see more recipes with water bath canning. Love all your channels!
These look delicious 😋 . I love adding coriander seeds and peppercorns to my quick pickles.
So I freeze dry all my peppers leftover from previous garden. I have used them in this mix. Fantastic!
Substitutions for common ingredients would be lovely. I always forget that since I don't often have buttermilk that I can do milk and vinegar.
I absolutely adore your channel and have made many of your recipes! Thank you so much!!
So glad to come across your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you for your perpetual chattiness, Jess. Without you and my dogs, I'd be very lonely. ❤
Oh yes! I have to have a little spicy in my quick pickled vegies, too.
Preserving herbs and flowers for tea.
Video ideas: simple staples like rice without a rice cooker.
Fried potatoes (should the pan be hot? What kind of pan? Can the potatoes be cold out of the fridge? When to season and with what?) Different types of eggs, poached, scrambled (why do my eggs always stick?), hard fried (I hadn't heard of these until I moved to the south), over easy yolks intact, over easy yolks broken, etc.
How to cook pasta. Ways to use pasta. Store- bought SAD vs. real ingredients vs. whole wheat vs. gluten free - do you cook them differently? do you store them differently? What about those bean pastas?
I love garlic too!! What a great video!! Will be making this!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
That delicious aioli sauce you make with shishito peppers!!
Loved watching you pickle all the different veggies!!!
I’m so excited to learn all the things from you! 😊
I loved the length of your vanilla video. You inspired me to try it myself! I would love a butter making video
I love the way you express things. The vampire line was a hoot. One of my favorite Jessisms was “where there is livestock, you will have dead stock.” Having lost some animals in the past, that was comforting. Ideas: homemade soup combinations, casseroles, homemade tortillas, yoghurt…
I don't mind you making new videos of things you have already taught. Some might be new to the channel and others are just forgetful and like the reminders of how easy something is to make😉
Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience we are new to gardening and food preparations. Thank you
I found your channel and am currently binge watching. 😊. I just tried canning yesterday. I made pickled okra and pickled red onions. I watched your canning 101...great, but have to admit scared me a little.....I would love for you to do a complete canning series, canning everything.
Oooooo I’ve been waiting for you to do this one!!! Thank you so much Jess!
Short formatted videos of the basics, for like a student who just left home who doesn't have all knowledge. Could be a great playlist!
You made a vinaigrette for a salad in one of your previous videos on here, and I made it with the end of my watermelon jam jar, it was DELICIOUS! That would be a great short video!
Hey Jess! Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but I would love to learn how to make garlic powder 😊 And I second the need for a good sour dough starter!
I think a video idea would be what’s always in your fridge and how you use it. I didn’t know until recently to save bacon grease after frying bacon. Now I keep a jar in the fridge and love using it for cooking up eggs or sautéing veggies when making soups.
Tips like these are easy and accessible wish I had known long ago.
"I think I need a bigger basket!"
Sounded just like...
"I think we need a bigger boat!" 😂 (Jaws)
The pickled garden veggies look beautiful.
Makes my mouth water.. as you were adding veggies I was thinking about the great buys I get on this or that. I over buy then start dehydrating..why in the world didn't I know this. I will be doing mine in quart sizes at least. Thank you. Oh yes ,referring to a list would be fun
Giardiniera goes great on an Italian beef sandwich too. I love my garlic too.
Carrot top pesto? Bit niche, but it's a brilliant way to use up carrot tops if you grow your own or get them at farmer's markets.
Great video as always. I do lots of ferment's and quick pickles . Jalapeno , red onions are always in my fridge. Take that great pickle chop it up add to a sandwich is great stuff. Kind of like a muffuletta . That could make a quick short video. I'm here for a few more weeks then so busy at work and my own very small farm. I really think there is a need for how people can make jam with out pectin. And making broth/stock
I find bone/stock/ broth are the most used staple anyone should be able to can and put up in the pantry. xx much love.
Hi Jess! I am loving my teas I get from you!! Once I get through the teas I am going to start on the coffee.
SUGGESTION: I would love to see spice mixes. Such as: Taco Seasoning, Season Salt (Like Lawry's) Beef Stroganoff, Asian Five Spice just to name a few.
Thanks for all you do. I get so many wonderful ideas from you. You are truly inspiring! Take care! Blessings to all! Cheers!
I have honestly been keeping an eye out for gluten free tutorials from you ever since you mentioned it in your dutch baby video! I have a sister who is gluten free and the pair of us struggle to find ways to bake simple things without forfeiting texture (for example breads, buns, tortillas)
"I eat garlic like vampires are a real threat" caused me to do a spit take with my drink. I love this channel so much. Thank you for all that you do.
😅😂
I love Jess she never disappoints thats for sure! ❤
Same!! 🤣
That is an excellent idea for a new shirt in the merch store!
We so love garlic, too! It is one of my faves!❤😂 I love Bear, too. I so miss my hugs from my Tiny Bear.
