This story teaches us the depth of David's repentance in Psalms 51. David did not repeat the sin after repentance, it also teaches us that virgins are highly valued and respected
Having identified myself with King David, I am thankful for Psalm 51 and a repentant heart, that in ALL circumstances, God's love and forgiveness has never failed during my earthly life. This story warmed my heart as well.
@@lemanikija I personally don't believe they thought differently than we do today. I think it's sad that king David didn't have a special relationship with any wife he had. Marriage should be between one man and one woman. That's the way God intended it.
Because by that time Bathsheba wasn't the beautiful lady who caught his eye. She is probably old by now. So king David prefers a young beautiful woman not old woman even tho she is is wife
His wives too became old and they themselves needed assistance so a young woman can serve the king well. Thinking this perhaps he allowed his servants to arrange this.
Great encouraging comments. I wonder if this Shunamite was related to the one in Songs of Solomon. I noticed the severe reaction Solomon had when Adonijah asked for her. I get the point about the symbolism .
King David,... Psalms Have Strengthened me All my life, he did get into Trouble and had 30+ Wives or concubines,. Most Likely got Veneral Diseses, Viruses, The Descriptions of his Medical Conditions, shows this..., Please Consider
Thanks for this video that sheds light on Abishag and her role in King David’s final days. I didn’t expect such an important and symbolic figure like her in David's life. But was Abishag really just a caregiver, or could there have been a political dimension to her position next to the King? This story leaves me wondering, and I’d love to hear others' thoughts on what we might have missed!
The Story is the Types Simple and Shadow of the New Testament- Prophetic Meaning is that Our King Jesus is looking for A Pure Virgin Church. The Young virgin Abishag represents the Church
This part of David's story, I think, was told because one of his sons tried to use her in order to become king. Also, men love young woman. Im sure it soothed his pain a little to look upon her.
This is even a non-issue, he was a powerful king in his old age. It wasn't sexual and the girl would have enjoyed privileges that would never accrued to her if she didn't get a chance to serve her king. She was akin to a nurse. I'm sure no one looked down on her for her actions. The one thing I have against it is that this could have made her ineligible for marriage afterwards because doing so may diminish the stature of a dead king.
But you need to keep reading. Why did they scour the country for her? Because she was much more than a bed-warmer; Any concubine could have done that. She was his full-time carer. A bit further on, she was caring for David when his advisers arrived. She needed nursing qualifications, hence the search for her.
Granted, what then has her virginity status has to do with those professional qualities and qualifications? It's way more than that whether you admit it or not 😅
There is a certain heat that a young Virgin carries that an old woman does not..We study kinetic vs potential energy in school...The Virgin generated kinetic energy in David.
David was old & ailing. No intimacy of serial nature, just a relationship in which youth could only possess the characteristics & perhaps willingness to take care of him with innocence & dignity. I truly doubt his wife that was old or a servant. Would have the same "heart"
I have a desire to know King David age . Because Josephus the historian states that Israel at seventy years old. But I think he was more than that. Can you help us here with the historical facts. Thank you.
13 And he (the high priest) shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. 15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the Lord do sanctify him. Leviticus 21:13-15kjv
This is one of the troubling stories in the bible. Why was this even recorded? What is the purpose or purposes to be included on David's life? Surely there were millions others that David had done, but not recorded. Surely, it's not by the way gossip even. We should regard bible to the highest standard and teaching of our God. I believe there is a message. But what is it? We read just before this incident was David's pride to stock take his achievements of his lifetime achievements that God showed His wrath against David as individually and Isreal as collectively. This story told us what the royal court did. There is simply absolute no mentioning of what David's asking or reaction. The story remains absolute absent of what David's think. So is this story about David or the people in the royal court? Or this story is absolutely about David for the people knew exactly the heart of this self serving king? Can we know for certain what is the message here for us to understand God righteousness and/or man's absolute unrighteousness in the flesh. This story remains troubling for me.
King David had many concubines, as was the custom of the day. There isn’t a description of his activities in the Bible other than that he had quite a few children. Abishag was a very special young woman who served him with purity. I’m glad she is mentioned, though after David’s death, she took on the role of a prize to be fought over by David’s sons.
I know that David and Jonathan loved each other. Most Christian offerings on the life of King David ignore the depth of their relationship, but it is pretty clear in the Bible. ❤🌈❤️
@@ForestGirlTeresa please David and Jonathan just had a strong friendship...that they literally considered eachother as brothers...the bible says nothing about a romantic love, don't read between the lines. Judas also kissed Jesus when he betrayed him, would you say that because he kissed him there was something like that between them too?
Why do you hate men hearing that the ideal bride should be a virgin. Should not all women be virgins until they marry. Even men should be pure before marriage according to God.
@ I don’t hate virgins at all. I was one until marriage. So was my husband. It was mocked and rare even in our day. But I do hate that old men, especially men that have a bazillion wives and concubines, seek virgins. And I hate that the Bible never once says men should be virgins upon marriage. I hate polygamy and the total misuse of many women throughout the Bible and even society today. Men still seek virgins to marry when they’ve had umpteen partners themselves. It’s a double standard, but only women are called “used” “sluts” and “whores.” It’s been this way for millennia and it’s disgusting.
David is old, tired and cold. He is King. Do they offer their King a young man to comfort him? Come on guys’, not necessarily sexual. Don’t forget who this is to them🙏🏻
She is shown as skinny. She could have been a little more full-figured and could have done a better job of keeping David warm. I hope a better representation of a full-figured woman will be in some future stories. Thank you; I enjoy your work.
Well, I think Abishag was more like hospice care giver and grandchild that is taking care of the grand father. Probably it is more our thinking that sees something bad in it.

Why couldn't Bathsheba keep him warm? You can bet your bottom dollar no one will keep my husband warm at night but me.

Did Abishag become one Solomon's wife. I haven't read a verse in the Bible that clearly answers this question
Why did Solomon have his brother, Adonijah, killed after the latter asked Bathseba for Abishag's hand in marriage?
It was interesting to see that adultery, treachery and murder is interpreted as justification for gods Devine plan..
A complete story for King David

True. Besides, virgins are very innocent, therefore, she wouldn't demand for "anything"
IS there a connection between Shunem, and the Shulammite?

so many snub the most precious Gospel message but are eager to invent lewd hypotheticals based on itching ears.

All the polygamy in the OT is a stumbling block for me.

David is old, tired and cold.
He is King.
Do they offer their King a young man to comfort him?

not necessarily sexual. Don’t forget who this is to them🙏🏻
And people thought very, very different at that time…
It all became a disaster. Remember,
God wanted to be their King.
But, as always, He was rejected 😔
I enjoyed the presentation, however, I can't explain the presence of Jesus on the Cross, in at least two of the pictures.

Because historians tell facts non judgements.
