Thanks for the film. My Grandfather worked for Standard Oil of California in the twenties, thirties and forties in LA, San Francisco and Taft.

Taft still has a lot of oil fields. Try driving N on 33 instead of i5 for a very different scenery

1.6 wells per acre. Wow, that was dense drilling spacing.

this looks like the cities I built in SimCity massive oil and gas productions must reap the rewards I love it.

The fields along the Newport to Inglewood fault system were once the second biggest producers in the country

The film footage is accurate. To this day Los Angeles has hidden pump jacks in several locations. I am 73 years old as a child when I moved into the Echo Park area of L.A. my neighbor was a very old lady whose husband (in the early 1900s) worked in the oil field that was near Echo Park Lake. (Example: the cluster of tall oil derricks in the film.) I attended Belmont High School in the 1960s. There were several pump jacks still working right across from the high school. No one thought anything about it; it was normal. Other parts of the city had them. Today they're required to hide the oil derricks and pump jacks with architecture. Check out "The hidden oil wells of Los Angeles" TH-cam video.

Hello from LA. Home of the oil fields. Some of these are still pumping. Can't imagine how much moneys been made from those wells.

It's still there. It obviously has been upgraded and you don't see any smoke. Just drive on lacienega past rodeo all the way up to stocker and make a left and all the way to labrea. You can see it out your car window to the left all the way. I hope I'm not wrong.

I do not believe this video is the Inglewood oilfields. I grew up in Blair Hills, about 1 block from the oilfields, and I resided there for 17.5 years, during which time I hiked many times through those fields, west of La Cienega. Both the drilling and the constructions in this video are far more intensive than in the Inglewood oil fields. The film shows (0:27, 1:02) a body of water, but no body of water existed in the Inglewood oil fields. The film also shows trolley cars (0:38) that do not correspond to the reality. The number and density of buildings seen in this video (e.g., 1:56-2:08) far exceeds what was present. The physical density of wells in this video (2:25) vastly exceeds what was present. To me, this video is so very different from the reality I witnessed that I consider it fraudulent and propagandistic.
