The people operating these balloon are INCREDIBLY professional and very experienced balloonists. What happened is obviously a sea breeze, which caught all of the balloons off guard. If you look there are other balloons in the background with the same issue. The best thing to have done in this situation was exactly what they did. Rip out and get the envelopes back on the ground.
Bloon Inflatable You are so wrong on so many levels. If the wind is like this, it doesnt come as a surprise to an experienced pilot. Under no circumstances do you even attempt on inflating a balloon in the first place. To get it up when the wind was that high is a breach of regulations that could potentially have killed someone that day. Their license should be revoked if they havent killed anyone by now
KL M So says the keyboard warrior that has no clue whatsoever. Pray tell, which regulation mandates that a balloon cannot inflate in a 5 knot wind? That’s what it was when cold inflating and, in the opposite direction, when the non-forecast sea breeze hit.
Just for the sake of the armchair keyboard warriors who have expressed their expert knowledge and wisdom, allow me to explain what happened. Four balloons (315/275/120/90) were inflating. The forecast and actual wind was 270/5 (confirmed by pibal) and all 4 balloons laid out in this direction. At exactly the time that the hot inflations commenced, a 180 degree sea-breeze occurred before sufficient heat was in the envelopes to prevent the envelopes deflating over the retrieve vehicles. This happened to all 4 balloons. What the video fails to show is that the vehicles were moved to the other side of the baskets and the balloons re-inflated and had a lovely flight (at 090/5).
when the balloon finally rose, why wasn't the pilot in the basket, she has to be in the basket, cause the balloon can rise at any time and 2nd why was she not burning when it rose up? there was enough space, but she did nothing. plus the crown line has to always be held at inflation to ensure shit like this doesnt happen, even at gusty winds.
Other countries, man! I'm a pilot. I am shocked to see a basket standing up, empty! I would NEVER leave my basket after standing, my gosh! And, why is she (?) not burning? If she would have burned right after getting back in she would have stood up, there's not enough heat. This is ridiculous. Then both are hugging the vehicle's fronts, I won't even comment on this silliness, but leaving your basket?! Never!
Michael Saul they failed to check the wind direction and placed the balloon exactly the opposite way. Also, way too windy. Poor poor judgement to even make an attempt. Its useless pilots like this that get ppl killed
KL M You are clearly a clueless troll. As can be seen in the video, the 180 degree sea breeze wind shift developed at exactly the time the balloon hot inflation commenced. The balloon was laid out in the direction of the actual and forecast wind. In fact, there were FOUR balloons caught out with this wind. Three commercial pilots with thousands of hours P1 and one private pilot. The chase van was removed and the balloon reinflated for a nice flight. Too much wind? It was 5 knots! There was no damage to any of the balloons. Of course, maybe you were actually there and know better?

Those winds cot more than just "light and variable". That was crazy. Lots of damage done to both the balloon baskets, and chase vehicles. Wow.
that's a bigass balloon
LOL , for 3 pilot make the same mistake wind ....he turned they had to take time before inflating
Light & variable winds can be a killer! Lucky they were still on the ground!☠️
Looks that in ireland pilots are not wery experienced to windy conditions.
The balloons were caught in an unexpected sea breeze. Neither of the balloons were damaged and subsequently launched and flew.
a sea breeze can be a very dangerous thing in a balloon
We're wery wery experienced with windy conditions!

Only so much one crown guy can do with a 240,000 CU/FT Balloon and a light breeze! ^_^

ROFL! XD
As for The TH-cam User: Foggy, What really happened to the Hot Air Balloons? Why did they fail to take off?
