    If you're thinking of buying a set of these - just do it. They sound amazing. The build quality isn't as high as a Masters per say, but I ended up not caring because they sounded that good in the store. These drums have POWER, and surprising warmth. My buddy was pretty blown away at how much low end was actually coming out of the 10x7 tom.. and the 16x14...we don't need to talk about that.

    My opinion: This is the best sounding drum set in the price point.

    • @CoomerGremlinDGGfan

      Better than the masters maple complete?

    • @martymet
      @martymet 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoomerGremlinDGGfan i think they sound better on recordings. but live they sound pretty similar.

      @@CoomerGremlinDGGfan
      From an ear point of view
      the masters maple have a less pointy sound with a more mid-range focused decay than these
      These have more aggression and quite a bit more low end (on paper, especially the bass drum) than the masters, so the result is: they sound louder and have "rolled off" mid-high frequencies... no wonder i found them to be more at home with frosted / coated heads on the THICKER side, like aquarian super 2s on toms and response 2s on floor toms that make up for it
      It's a matter of what you are looking for in the end, buddy (and what music you play more often of course)

    • @CoomerGremlinDGGfan
      @CoomerGremlinDGGfan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gabrielemartino2466 I'm surprised by that. Since the bearing edges on the sessions are more rounded I would have thought they'd have a warmer and less aggressive tone.
      The sessions having more low end isn't surprising though.

    • @gabrielemartino2466
      @gabrielemartino2466 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoomerGremlinDGGfan I don't wanna say having rounded bearing edges with one well executed (thus well behaving) birch blend shell (after all, there is more birch than mahogany in the session studio's) is no point but... they can shape / eq only so much of the actual wood's natural timbre...
      As I said, the warmth that you would expect from a maple shell shows itself with coated heads, but keep in mind they will probably not be as open (no moongels and some extra minutes tuning, yayy)

    im so old school im still using my 1976 pearl fiberglass shell drums with original hardware so seeing this type of hardware blows me away but you newer guys look down on it so i guess im driving a old relic the only change i made was newer Evans G2 coated heads with the new 360 and also a sabian aax 16 crash and a zildjian 17 A custom crash of course i,
    m using the original 14 newbeats and 20 ride thats it

  • @Andrew3154
    @Andrew3154 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a set of those. Put G2 coated on the batter, and some black rezos. Aquarian Super Kick II on the bass. Sounds awesome, and the engineers love them.

    This is a very nice drum set!! I'm considering the new Session Studio Select as a potential drum set upgrade (10 12 14 16 22 in the crimson burst or gloss natural) since the Session Studio Classic is no longer available. If you do still have one of these SSC kits in your shop, I would love to see you guys do a shootout video with the new Session Studio Select to see what the difference is (birch/kapur vr birch/mahogany). I really like the sizes offered, especially the 22x16 kick, and I'm happy they kept that for the new kit.

    Hi,
    I know this video is old, but kapur isn’t a South American wood. Kapur can be Malaysian or Indonesian but not South American. I know because my set is 100% 6 ply of kapur wood, and so I read a lot about kapur before buying it 😄
    Good demo videos tho, I’m here because I’m considering getting a Pearl set, and your channel has some good Pearl drums demonstrations.

    Hi there.
    this shell pack sounds really good.
    if ill go for it it would be the 5/6 piece kit and add a snare...but i got a question, how would you compare it with the TAMA hyper drive 5 piece (not duo ) or the PDP concept maple 7 piece kit sound wise.....????

    These drums sound really good! How do they compare to the new Session Studio Select series with the mahogany interiors? I am a little reluctant to buy a set of these since they are discontinued but I am considering a set of the new Studio Select drums. I have been playing maple drums for the last few years but I am really a birch guy at heart. Great video!

    • @EdenPorterMusic

      EC2s, though Pinstripes have a little different muffling around the edge and different film so the EC2s sound a bit sharper.

    They need to come out with a better tom mounting system. Sonor SQ1's and Ludwig Keystone X drums have nice mounting systems that don't mess with the tuning lugs.
    Even Mapex has a better mounting system.

    • @petewanca
      @petewanca 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      TheIntelligentView the term better is completely driven by opinion in this industry. Some folks like it - buy what you like. I personally dislike Ludwig’s system but enjoy the Pearl mounting. To each their own.

    • @NEALBABBITT
      @NEALBABBITT 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're kidding right? Gretsch? Ludwig? I love Pearl but they've made a business about emulating Ludwig. They've gone further than that now but that's where they became known, imo.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mediumstudio Yeah you’ve obviously never heard a Tama Kit or anything high end from any of the top manufacturers. Everything you hear is from the heads. The drum just simply allows the head to bring out its potential. Any high end drum with crappy heads will sound like crap. Replace the heads with plastic wrap on any drum and try to get it to sound like a drum. The sound is in the heads and the tuning. CYMBALS......yes those are the source of the sounds so cymbals are much more identifiable by maker.
