3 out of 4 of the Haruhi OPs/EDs are absolutely perfect, and the other one is still really good. The first ten seconds of this are the best ten seconds of any anime OP and give me chills Hare Hare Yukai is Hare Hare Yukai, going on about it is as worth my time as going on about God Knows, it’s one of very few EDs that can count itself as being as iconic as the most iconic OPs (some others being Fly Me To The Moon and The Real Folk Blues) Super Driver has an immediately striking visual style and one of my favourite choruses in anime OPs, I spent three hours listening to versions of it over and over again while playing Hollow Knight the other day. The other ED is a really good ED but suffers from the syndrome of most EDs (other than the ones I just mentioned) of just being a lot more low key. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it’s overcrowded by the others. Then you’ve got God Knows, Itsumo no Fuukei which is the quintessential slice of life background music in my mind and certain tracks from Disappearance like Suzumiya Haruhi no Tegakari and especially fucking READY. I love Haruhi so fucking much.
Haruhi: Its pointless to resist, Kyon. Kyon: W-wait, Haruhi! We can't just leave school! We have so much work to do! Did you not see the files and forms the club has to fill to confirm our existence?! As much as you want to look for oddities, you wouldn't want to lose the Brigade! Haruhi: Yeah, I guess thats true. It'd be a pretty terrible thing to do. Totes irresponsible. Un-leaderly even. It would hurt me right here. (Points to heart) Kyon: Right?! If we just left, you'd feel bad about it for the rest of your life! Haruhi: Yeah, I would. Thats why I finished it. (Drops stack of paperwork from outta nowhere) Kyon: H-huh? What? Haruhi: Its all cleared up now, right? No loose ends? All forms stamped and signed? Kyon: Everythings...done... haruhi: Yep. Its all signed and sealed. For now. Kyon: Huh? ... !!! Haruhi: Its an adventure now, right? Right?! Kyon: Oh shit. NOOO! {ZA WARUDO OVAH HEABUN}: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!!! Kyon (Flying out of Club room): WHYYYY!?!? Haruhi: Haah~phew. I feel completely refreshed. Like I just put on fresh underwear on New Year's Day.
Oh man, didn't think you'd do this opening! This one's my favorite Haruhi opening. =D So, how about we get something from Gakkou Gurashi (School live). Seriously, anything from anime that would be amazing.
I love how this show is heralded as a classic & a must-see by everybody; but it also has one of the most repetitive, annoying arcs in anime. *KYON, YOUR PHONE IS RINGING! AND FOR SOME REASON I KNEW THAT IT WAS HARUHI CALLING.*
