That "comfort" in a bottle so to speak sounds a lot like a similar feeling of depression. There is a comfort in being introverted and withdrawn that allows us to make excuses and staying depressed. Sort of like it is much easier to keep drinking rather than put in the work to change. I relate to this song for that reason.
Addiction is rough,it's a thing that demands constant attention. I always know what I am doing isn't a good thing but that feeling has to be pushed aside. Then the only relief is for the time you have whatever you need. As soon as it's gone regret and self disappointment takes hold. I feel bad for what I chose but I know the only way to feel better is to start thinking about is where to get it,who to get it from and how to get it. It's a vicious cycle that never ends. Be glad neither of you have to deal with it. It's not fun and gets old real quick. I have had my little sober months but they don't last long. I know I can fix what's wrong inside but I don't think about what comes with it for some reason. Hopefully I will stop someday before it stops me. I feel for anyone else who deals with the same thing. It's a bitch. Great reaction guys, Im really digging your reactions. Ya gotta get back to church, there's alot of music you haven't heard yet. There are things known as unanswered prayers...which are blessings in disguise. Sometimes what you pray for what comes to you in a different form than you expect. This one can be relatable in many ways because everyone has different demons.

Great reaction. I know in my personal life, when I have had my deepest struggles and reached out to God, that is when Demons attacked me relentlessly. When I didn’t have my eyes on God, they “sort of” left me alone because they already had their way... my eyes off of God. (Hopefully that makes sense)

He has a similar song, Sober, you really need to check it out. I was on fentynal patches for 10 years, clean since last June. These songs hit me deep as they are very relatable. Hearing from other people that have been and still battle it, like Tom, does bring comfort. You never truly beat addition, it's a daily battle.

I’m going through your TM playlist, have you guys done Sober? I haven’t seen it on the list but maybe I’m missing it somewhere. If you haven’t, it’s so good. I think it’s a song that has saved hundreds or thousands of lives. To me the message is the most powerful that him, Nova and it ft. Madchild. It’s amazing to hear them put all their “stuff” out there and I’ve never seen any artist put that much “rough past” that most people would hide, they just tell the world. Alcohol is a quick fix. Prayer and faith is a long hard journey because you have to face the demons, mistakes, insecurities, etc... that you have never dealt with. It's not a pleasant journey but definitely worth it.
Love that they were confident enough in their sobriety to give a truly honest assessment of how it feels when you give up the quick/avoidance fix. (Booze, drugs, depression, anxiety, etc. )
As a Christian, I completely understand this feeling. I grew up in the faith but I still waver and get frustrated with God when I feel like he isn't listening. Even though, my faith tells me he is always listening. Unfortunately, we want God to send down angels from heaven to protect us for ourselves. That's never going to happen, that's a movie scene. However, I have had the blessing of God talking through other people to me. Both times it was a stranger, with a touch on the shoulder, a smile, or just through simple kindness.
The biggest event in my life was when I was diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time within 6 months. I was doing an internships 1600 miles away from my family and they wanted to start treatments the following week. Remember walking back to my vehicle, I wasnt crying but definitely had shell shocked look on my face. A stranger greeted me then gently touched my shoulder and stated 'you are going to be okay.' He didn't know me or what was going on. But his sincere statement was so profound and needed at that exact moment. I truly believe God works through other people. You just have to be open enough to see His grace.
