To add to the discussion and perspective,I live in Vermont and I’ve had plenty of micro aggressions but also I’ve worked with a lot of people who have never met a black person in actually person and you become an oddity. And yes there are some great people I’ve met but also as a black and native women I have seen some aggressive stares, and some homes that truly scare me because of their rhetoric. There are certain towns because of lack of cell service and internet that I would not feel safe enough to go to once the sun goes down. Hope this helps.
My husband has the same low key reaction style like y’all and as a very dramatic person it still blows my mind. I cry at everything. Happy. Sad. Don’t matter. Pure tears. People are made differently and that’s not just okay but beautiful.
I love your videos bc of how real they are! You don’t get all done up for the camera, there’s no click bait, no fancy editing. I appreciate you talking about difficult topics and sharing what you choose to with us!
I like the idea of hole punching Christmas cards and then putting them on a binder ring! You can have all of 2023 cards together and then they’re easy to flip through in the future!
omg i LOVE this but tbh i would keep them all forever & have so many binders of other peoples families 😂 i feel like a temporary display is best for my hoarding ass!
I've been thinking about this for a WHILE - social media and ESPECIALLY tik tok have totally distorted how people perceive others' reactions online! When there's so many people out there staging content to be forcefully excited and to have a big "viral" reaction to news and pranks, a lot of people don't realize it's not necessarily the truth. And even having a phone or camera filming moments can persuade people to have a "bigger than normal" reaction just for video's sake. It's normal to have these big reactions authentically of course! But there are also folks out there who don't have "big reactions" and it's totally valid and normal as well! It doesn't discount how they feel!
it’s soooo toxic lol like people really had the nerve to say that my hidden camera footage of my parents finding out that they’re gonna be grandparents was “lackluster” like babe you MUST live in a fantasy world if you think every human is screaming about every exciting life event that occurs 😂 let people be their peaceful, quiet selves!
I just recently moved back to Gresham from estacada. And you are so right about POC in that area. I am used to Gresham/PDX then moving to estacada was definitely jumping into freezing cold water. I was like the only blue person in a sea of red. I definitely understood that reference.
I have always appreciated your “realness” and never dramatize anything, that’s what I look for personally in friends and lasting relationships in real life because I don’t want fake
Keep being yourself. There will always be people who feel the need to rain on people's lives. Spread negative comments. I love how real you are. You don't have to justify/explain yourself.
Ugh I’m so sorry that people are leaving those kind of comments. We love you and Finn and the reason why we do is BECAUSE of the realness and genuine human reactions you two show. Keep being y’all - Stay smiling 😊🫶🏻 This is my first vlogmas with you and it’s truly the highlight of my day!
Oh no I’m sorry people were critiquing your reactions, that is so strange. I thought y’all both had endearing and heartfelt “reactions.” Also I don’t think you’re a simple person! You are a complex human with emotions and feelings and a well lived life. You spread joy and positivity and anyone who can’t see that needs to reevaluate some things.
I'm sorry that people continue to overstep boundaries in your comments and bring unnecessary criticism and negativity to your videos. You've always been so down to earth and real, you guys do not deserve that.
“I for some reason want to talk about this” TRUST YOUR INSTINCT, there’s a reason 🫶🏼❤ it’s such an important conversation to have, even more important to be initiated by someone like you, so thank you!! I’m in a rural area in Nova and want to find a state/town similar where I can live homestead while feeling accepted in my community 🤍
Such true and valid thoughts on the comments about y’all’s reactions. I always feel so bad when people give me gifts or tell me big news and I don’t have a big reaction, but I am not a very outwardly emotive person in general.
Girl....if anyone has something negative to say about anything u guys do they must be so fucking miserable, you two r always so sweet,so adorable,so kind,I couldn't imagine ever saying or having a negative thought about yall, some people r just completely miserable and it drives them mad to see someone else being happy, just know you're amazing and I was literally crying when u did the reveal,so cute and the pigs omg the best,ty for not letting those types of comments stop u from sharing with us,that would be so heartbreaking, anyways another great vlog, love all the vlogmas 😊❤
You guys are such a breath of fresh air. There’s so much unauthentic, fake, cringey content out there. But Meg and fin are real and raw and yes it is an honor to be apart of your life journey because it’s sacred and if u need to step back on certain things at any time. I hope you know you have support of that.
We used to tape Christmas cards around our fireplace/mantle! Taping them down the staircase could also be a slay, or just putting them on the tree as additional decorations could be cute too!!
Your reaction was so much more relatable than those over-the-top tears and sobbing reactions. When I told my husband that i had a positive pregnancy test he looked at it and was like “are you sure? This is a pretty faint line.” 😂 the following day I took a digital and it said pregnant, so we felt ok to celebrate a bit. Also I can’t keep a secret to save my life so we told our parents right away. Currently 5 weeks and I’m telling everyone! 😂
that was absolutely finley when i told him 😂 the test also didn’t say “pregnant” so he was incredibly confused on what i was giving him 😂 not every life moment is perfectly vlog worthy hahaha
Agreed! When I told my husband my pregnancy test was positive, he gave me a high five 😄 Granted this is our rainbow baby, so there's a complex mix of emotions, out of protecting ourselves. But it's so true, people react differently!
AHHHH I love you Meghan. Long time viewer since we were both in high school (I'm 25). I have never commented, but recently you've become my favorite TH-camr. I love that you are a young woman who enjoys typical pop culture but still strives to be authentic, spread love, connect with nature, and live more sustainably. It's so relatable and I just appreciate your authenticity so much. And from someone who is biracial and lived in a very diverse town in California and then moved to the Midwest, I really appreciate your conversation on diversity. I can absolutely feel the difference and do find myself being the only poc in group settings. Very few white creators even acknowledge these things let alone discuss them publicly.
I’m a black girl from NY who just moved to the RI/MA 3 years ago after college for a job. The diversity is definitely lacking in several areas, however there are also towns/regions where black people/latinos are the majority. Boston is one of the most “segregated” cities, however its also a city with one of the highest carribean populations in the country. Just based on the town i live in, i have struggled to find the type of diversity i had at home but i also know that there are places i can go to be around more POC😊 i do enjoy it up here!
as someone who also grew up in the south (alabama) and is currently living in portland i wholeheartedly agree!! the lack of diversity really wanes on me, and the tendency for people in the pnw to belittle the south as backward when as you said, oregon's history is steeped in hatred, it really gets to me! it always feels like a breath of fresh air when i fly home or somewhere on the east coast.
THIS IS SO REALLL people would be like “wow the GA backwoods!” when i told them where i’m from… i’d be like no babe try the diverse suburbs of atlanta 😂 sure GA has a wildly racist past, but oregon held onto that sentiment for WAY longer than other places
@@meghanhughes EXACTLY! i grew up knowing the brutal and disgusting past of both my state and the country and it was my parents' and community's mission to make sure i never forgot those atrocities and lived my life learning and growing from the diverse group of people around me. i can't say the same for a lot of my pnw friends, though i know a lot are trying their best.
I grew up in a super diverse place also and now live in the boonies of the west. It is so noticeable!! I will constantly be like wow there are only white people in this store/etc. when I was used to being the only white person in some places! The main thing I miss about the DMV is the diversity for sure
The fact is the people in the comments would never say those terrible things in real life. It just shows how unhappy they are. I adore you, just finding you. You’re not over the top and exaggerated and that’s why we’re all here. We tired of the excitement and just want to feel seen and not alone. Thank you for sharing! 🫶🏻🖤
Thank you so much, for just everything! Being honest, being open, and allowing us to watch your and finleys journey with whatever you guys are doing! ❤
Thank you for talking about P.O.C. in your area. When I was in RI, I was shocked to see other people of color. I was very hesitant to go to Boston for this reason. This just makes me want to visit Vermont and the east coast more in general ❤
there will always be more POC around any college campus, but the NE is definitely quite white all over. i’ve heard many stereotypes from folks out here used as excuses talking about what races don’t “like the cold,” but it’s much deeper than that. there are MANY historical reasons for the lack of diversity in the NE, but it mostly has to do with the real lack of a reason to move here for even after VT abolished slavery in 1777 (first state to do so)! there were just no jobs here. no real black history or culture & black people felt no draw to come. we still experience that to this day!
Love you touched on these topics! It can definitely be pretty white in areas of Vermont and other more rural states up here. I’m a north easterner who’s been watching you all my life and I love that you’ve moved up here! You also moved right where my relatives live in Brattleboro! it’s such a cute area and it’s such a small world!
As someone from WA i would like to add that all of our small towns are filled with histories of recent Klan members. Living in a state that was colonized later on, means that the people who have the idea that "this is my land to claim" more recently moved here (in the grand scheme of history) than other places in the U.S..
I looove that yall feel so genuine in your videos, and I really appreciate you giving us this window into your life! Your videos are so refreshing, and thank you for sharing your day to day with us, especially during this time of year and when you and Finley are experiencing such monimental things ❤
re: displaying christmas cards - my family hangs a ribbon somewhere like maybe just on a wall like in a wide U shape and uses paper clips or clothespins to clip the cards to it!
i definitely think about it! more for my children/the schools around. vermont is definitely not diverse! that wasn't my point! my point was it's more diverse than where we lived in oregon & overall more accepting than the small town we used to live in. a big reason we didn't want to buy in OR (other than climate change) was the political views of many places with land outside of the city & fearing that our kids would be exposed to that hatred in schools & such.
@@meghanhughes I am glad you guys moved from Oregon. I recently moved to the country and it is very white (I am Latina) I do feel a big cultural shock, but we spend a lot of time cooking & being with the pets at home + our family comes over so it feels nice. All we can do is focus on our small communities & what we can do to improve. (: I am thankful you are speaking out on this Meghan! p.s ive been watching you since 2018 & you are a LEGEND!! it is tradition for me to watch your vlogmas!
Also, as much as I would loooove to see your beautiful daughter when she's born, you might consider keeping her private. There's weirdos in this space. I've heard of influencers' children being recognized in public, and personally, that would be super uncomfortable for me. Something to consider. ❤
Thank you for the real-life videos. It's great to watch. You guys are so quirky and bring such joy through your everyday things you do. There's always going to be those people that suck the life out of others and those viewers need to go elsewhere. I enjoy the stories you share and find them joyful. My husband does the Pokémon go on the walks and when we walk the dog. Sometimes he starts walking places and my response is what Pokémon are you after, honey. lol. I enjoy the home improvement and Finley cam part of the videos; he is so laid back. Keep living life your way and let the haters go elsewhere. Cheers to the soon to be little baby girl, the puppies, the pigs, you and Finley. Hugs across the miles, Happy Holiday season and the best new year ahead. Cheers, Elizabeth S. Wisconsin
It’s just so sad how people ruin things for good people just because they are jealous and ungrateful. I am absolutely so grateful for you and Lindsey sharing your lives with us and pushing through all the negativity and rude comments to give us the content that we look forward to watching everyday. I can’t even begin to understand how people think it’s okay to say the things they do to other human beings. I personally cannot wait to see your little family thrive even if that means we don’t get to see it all. (& that’s okay because everyone deserves privacy!!) thank you for everything you do, bc it’s gotten me through so much! I’m so incredibly happy for you guys and whatever you guys decide to share I will be there for! ❤️
preach meghan! love both you and finley and not that my opinion matters AT ALL💯 but the love and excitement you two have for both eachothers and this new baby girl is OBVIOUS AND APPARENT🖤 i'm so excited for the future for you three + animals🖤
howdy- as an indigenous person, i just wanted to comment here and mention that statistically vermont is 1.5%, while oregon is 2.3%! in portland, our community is a bit more diverse. love your vlog footage :-)
If you haven’t you need to get a brush that doesn’t have the beads on the end! It’s life changing it literally detangles soo much quicker and doesn’t hurt as much!
as a UVM student and burlington resident, the "city" is super white, but the POC here are some of the most amazing people I've met here! i completely agree with everything you said about the race situation in vermont and new england in general--the lack of them often keeps POC from moving here so the cycle just repeats itself. your thoughts were very well said!
The stand up routine at the grocery store? Are you kidding me? Gawd, I live for that stuff I swear! Like, even just my interactions at Trader Joe's always make my day lol I'm used to the grumpy Europeans so I wish I had witnessed that 👏😄
Just want to say I love your content and appreciate your realness. Your videos are therapeutic in so many ways and I feel like Im catching up with a friend, and like you said in the last clip, its a privilege that you share so much of your life to thousands of people. You could stop today if you wanted. It just bothers me that people criticize every aspect of your life and I just wonder why they feel the need when you guys just are showing your life. All to say I hope these comments don't weigh too heavily on you, because I wish i could express how much we all appreciate your videos. Much love :)
That was really nice of you to address and bring up diversity in Oregon and Vermont! I follow a few poc influencers who do foraging and exploring nature, they’ve talked about going to other states so this would be good info. For the cards; you could but your favorites on the tree or just around the tree! Like hole punch them and use ribbon 😁
I posted this comment before finishing your video…..I can’t believe you have to even explain your reaction for your baby announcement 💀 The sucky part about putting your life online, you encounter sucky judgmental people 🙄 Love ya and I’m proud of ya! 🫶🏻
We always would take tape and tape them onto our sliding door:) also I’m so happy you and Fin are on this journey of having your first child I’m so happy for you both and I got SO excited when I found out it was a girl!
I also grew up in a super diverse place and moved to vermont. I’m up in Burlington. I think your description of Oregon was pretty much how VT was when I moved here hahaha but I think it’s gotten a lot better over the years.
I know this is pretty late but for next year my mom used to put our Christmas picture cards from family onto our tree similar to what you did for your sonogram picture😊
Sending love! I know many creators have stopped reading comments because people are so quick to judge/analyze and create assumptions. And I think it’s really cool that you still read them, but if you need to not read the comments, that is cool too. Your vlogs are really awesome, and comforting, and stand well on their own!
Honestly I love Finley's overall chill demeanor 😅 Fin cam parts are so fun to me! Thank you to both of you for all the content 💕 congrats again for your baby ❤
Thank you for the POC discussion. As a Black woman who has considered relocating to Vermont, I'm grateful you addressed a question that I had been wanting to ask. I might visit the VT this summer to explore and identify a town where I would feel secure and welcome living.
Congratulations on your new working stove (and your baby girl)! I also thought you were having a boy, but I'm so happy for you and Finn. Keep sharing your pregnancy journey, I've been enjoying it greatly.
oh if they hated your reaction to the sex reveal, they would have hated mine 😂 the dr told us and we were like “yep we knew that already” and moved on with our day lmao
Hey Megan We used to hang our cards from twine we strung around the house like you would lights or garland which was fun We would use tape or pegs to attach the cards to the twine :):)
i use a long piece of colorful yarn tacked to the ceiling and put the cards on the yarn like those flag banners but a christmas card banner type thing 🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩
I love that you call it avocado bread and not toast because you just eat the bread as is. I’m also pregnant and for the first many weeks, I couldn’t even be bothered to warm up my leftovers or food, I’d just eat it cold out of the Tupperware. The exhaustion, sickness and lack of caring in that regard is so real!
I love watching your vlogs and have really enjoyed you sharing your life. I look forward to watching your vlogmas everyday because it is so relaxing. I hope you don’t let the negative comments stop you but I understand if you ever decide to share less. I LOVED how you used the pigs as part of the gender revel and felt very authentic. People have weird perspectives on life sometimes, especially with TikTok showing such OVER the top gender revels all the time, people forget life is not like that for lots of people. However, you and your husband’s reactions felt very relatable and made me feel happy because when my partner and I have a baby we wont have a big party either because that’s just not how we are. Sending love and well wishes XOXO
Ugh thats so rude how people were commenting mean stuff about your gender reveal! I personally found it soo sweet, genuine, and full of love!!! Thank you for sharing it!!

@@meghanhughes So gross... the ENTITLEMENT. I'm begging y'all to hop offline for a moment and go have normal interactions with real people!!
I just recently moved back to Gresham from estacada. And you are so right about POC in that area. I am used to Gresham/PDX then moving to estacada was definitely jumping into freezing cold water. I was like the only blue person in a sea of red. I definitely understood that reference.
No one:
Meg: I NEED to go to the grocery
I have always appreciated your “realness” and never dramatize anything, that’s what I look for personally in friends and lasting relationships in real life because I don’t want fake
I appreciate yall don’t over dramatize anything that doesn’t feel natural to . Idk what’s real anymore watching some people
Keep being yourself. There will always be people who feel the need to rain on people's lives. Spread negative comments. I love how real you are. You don't have to justify/explain yourself.
As a homeowner i really do enjoy Finn's reno talk. I like to learn a little about how yall DIY.
I love you speaking your truth on SO many topics ❤️
I always feel so bad when people give me gifts or tell me big news and I don’t have a big reaction, but I am not a very outwardly emotive person in general.
loved this whole vlog but also gotta say I’m loving fin being in his vlogging era!! it’s cool to learn some stuff and he’s funny as fuck 😂
It’s extremely refreshing to see reactions and announcements that are just real. So much is dramatized and overplayed on the internet
The main thing I miss about the DMV is the diversity for sure
i moved to cali after living in nyc and growing up in the DMV and i was shocked how white it is over here
The fact is the people in the comments would never say those terrible things in real life.
love how real you are, keep on keeping on. congrats on your baby girl. can’t wait to see your new content ❤
thank u finley for walking through the home improvement projects!!! so helpful to learn these types of things
The fact that I was thinking while watching yesterday’s vlog that I’d ask u ab the diversity in the area and this comes out! Thanks queen! ❤ u!
I’m early!!! Cannot wait to sit down with my soup and grilled cheese and earl gray tea and watch! Sending so much love!💕
omg the walpole creamery got me so nosalgic for my time in NH. you MUST try the sweet cream flavor
re: displaying christmas cards - my family hangs a ribbon somewhere like maybe just on a wall like in a wide U shape and uses paper clips or clothespins to clip the cards to it!
Do you think about diversity while moving to a new state? Vermont doesn't seem very diverse, especially if you see a couple POC throughout the day.
i definitely think about it! more for my children/the schools around. vermont is definitely not diverse! that wasn't my point! my point was it's more diverse than where we lived in oregon & overall more accepting than the small town we used to live in. a big reason we didn't want to buy in OR (other than climate change) was the political views of many places with land outside of the city & fearing that our kids would be exposed to that hatred in schools & such.
In my family home my dad always puts up a long line of string on the wall & then hangs the cards from that! Looks super cute!
Thank you father Finley for the stove lesson.
Love being an early queen! Perfect timing for lunch break ❤
Same!!!
For the Christmas cards! I always do twine or rope with little close pins and hang them all up. Looks cute along mantel, stair case, or just a wall! 😊
Omg thank you Meg for talking about the diversity! I've always wondered about Vermont. Id LOVE to visit one day I know its beautiful!!
preach meghan! love both you and finley and not that my opinion matters AT ALL💯 but the love and excitement you two have for both eachothers and this new baby girl is OBVIOUS AND APPARENT🖤 i'm so excited for the future for you three + animals🖤
not the “if an alien saw yesterday’s video…” 😂 I think that like multiple times a day! Love your videos and just so happy for ya! ✨
Grateful you choose to share your life with us. The vast majority of us are so beyond happy for you and your cutie fam 💜
howdy- as an indigenous person, i just wanted to comment here and mention that statistically vermont is 1.5%, while oregon is 2.3%! in portland, our community is a bit more diverse. love your vlog footage :-)
totally true! but just for perspective vermonts entire state population is similar to the population of portland! it's so small here & hard to compare
Like, even just my interactions at Trader Joe's always make my day lol
I'm used to the grumpy Europeans so I wish I had witnessed that 👏😄
Just want to say I love your content and appreciate your realness.
The high lawn farms chocolate milk is a major slay highly recommend lol
That was really nice of you to address and bring up diversity in Oregon and Vermont! I follow a few poc influencers who do foraging and exploring nature, they’ve talked about going to other states so this would be good info.
For the cards; you could but your favorites on the tree or just around the tree! Like hole punch them and use ribbon 😁
I posted this comment before finishing your video…..I can’t believe you have to even explain your reaction for your baby announcement 💀
The sucky part about putting your life online, you encounter sucky judgmental people 🙄
Love ya and I’m proud of ya!
Happy holidays ❤❤❤
My dad will get twine and hook the ends to nails and clip the Christmas cards along it!! Super cute and you can reuse the nails and twine
We use twine and clothes pins for our christmas cards!
I like to display the christmas cards inside of the tree.
you could hand a piece of string and hang the cards over it, my parents used to do that ❤
I know this is pretty late but for next year my mom used to put our Christmas picture cards from family onto our tree similar to what you did for your sonogram picture😊
This is why I love you Meg your a real ass person!! Can’t wait for baby girl
good for you for standing up for yourself against rude people!! SO happy for you and fin for your baby girl! :)
Love that your mom uses Thriftbooks! 😊 Im personally a Better World Book kind-of girly! ❤
Comfort TH-camr 💛💛💛
I love and appreciate your content Meghan! Your videos make my day so much better
For the Christmas cards you can string them with some twine and make a little garland!
Is Finley finding time to socialise in VT to meet new friends?
Hahahahaha Finley is so funny in this video
Hey Megan
We used to hang our cards from twine we strung around the house like you would lights or garland which was fun
We would use tape or pegs to attach the cards to the twine :):)
As somebody who lives outside of Portland, I agree with you for sure
Yes queen w the Christmas slay!!
I stuff my Christmas cards in my tree! It looks so cute and fills in the gaps.
I truly enjoy sharing your life it's a privilege 🥰
i use a long piece of colorful yarn tacked to the ceiling and put the cards on the yarn like those flag banners but a christmas card banner type thing 🧩🧩🧩🧩🧩
You need the try the blueberry soda from Maine root!! Literally so addicting and good
You can run some garland and poke a hole in your Christmas cards with an ornament hook and hang from the garland.
Proud of you for filming what’s inside the fridge! I know you said the smell made you feel icky!
I love that you call it avocado bread and not toast because you just eat the bread as is. I’m also pregnant and for the first many weeks, I couldn’t even be bothered to warm up my leftovers or food, I’d just eat it cold out of the Tupperware. The exhaustion, sickness and lack of caring in that regard is so real!
lmfao yes my laziness for food prep is real. i just need the calories not the work 😂
@@meghanhughes I feel ya sister, you phrased it perfectly!
My parents also used to tape Christmas cards around the doorway! I vote keep the tradition and do that 😊
I love watching your vlogs and have really enjoyed you sharing your life.
Your news is great. Don't let anybody get you down. Congratulations!
Loved this 🥰 all of this 🥰
Ugh thats so rude how people were commenting mean stuff about your gender reveal! I personally found it soo sweet, genuine, and full of love!!! Thank you for sharing it!!
Just started watching your channel. You popped up and I was like oh Lindsey's sister. Love her and now.i have your channel to live too. And omg love your piggies. Congrats on the baby. So excited for you. And how fun a little girl. Have a great day!.
