We limeños can get sunny days during the winter time, just going straight into the mountains for about 30 to 60 minutes from the coast. @@Tedelius Indeed. Anyway old doesn't have to be ugly. Actually, I prefer cities with history and old (but well preserved) buildings, rather than plain modernity that doesn't express the local culture. I really didn’t enjoy my time in Colombia for those reasons. Could you do a video about healthcare in Lima Peru and if you keep your American policy as a back up if you want to go home? I’ve been debating GeoBlue and Cigna over local private offerings here
Healthcare in Peru is affordable compared with the US. There's Public and private which means there's competition. The Private healthcare must provide excellent service and still affordable prices or they don't have business.

Very concise and informative. I've lived in Peru for a few years and loved it, specifically Lima and will be moving back soon. How long have you been living in Peru?
Lima is a hidden gem! Ocean front property and friendly people, at least with americans. I just hope it doesn't get ruined like Medellin or Mexico City.

Very very informative video and really enjoyed watching it. Greetings from Brussels, Belgium. From a Peruvian born 🇵🇪 Thank you for your kindness and sincerity.
This video was in my recommendations. I'm Peruvian and it's great that people want to live here. Places like Barranco and Miraflores are really good for foreigners. Although in Colombia crime seems more noticeable, here you still have to be careful, especially in the poorest districts, where now there are not only Peruvian criminal gangs but also foreign ones such as Venezuelan ones (tren de aragua for example) that are considered more violent. and they have a presence in almost all of Latin America and even reached the United States. Almost all the news in Peru is about extortion of different businesses and many times there is death. However, in places like Miraflores, San Isidro, Surco, etc. this does not happen, so they are considered safe.
@@ceciliabarrionuevo8782 I have seen so many reports about extortion on the news here in Peru and I mentioned this in my culture shock video. I really hope it changes soon because a lot of my taxi drivers have told me they are suffering because of the extortion.

Thanks for this video. Well, as for tap water, people always boil it before drinking it, although if you've got a filter, then it's ok. BTW your accent is beautiful! It's been quite some time since I've heard such a well-pronounced American English. Indeed, I've seen prostitution in Medellin; not in the streets, but in restaurants. So, this girl comes in, takes a seat with a bunch of male tourists, takes out a catalogue and "sells" it to the guys... my jaw dropped. It was really sad. I hope that changes. Colombian girls are really pretty, but I think many prefer investing in their looks, rather than in basic needs like food (rather starving than looking average). Have a nice time in Lima. People are nice but you should also be alert, just in case. God bless you!
I did a long term stay in Lima in MiraFlores which is very high end, ocean front but I found it very lonely. Did not find a expat tribe. Made 1 or 2 local “friends” but mainly from their curiosity about Americans.
@@TamaraNJones I haven’t met many expats either the only people I talk to are locals so I always have to use my Spanish which has been a huge learning experience for me.
Another beautiful viceregal city that has an extraordinary climate is Arequipa, clean, welcoming with colossal cuisine and very cheap. A very safe and clean city. There are no dangerous neighborhoods in Arequipa, there are poor areas, but not dangerous like Bogota, where there is a place called, The Bronx of Bogota, where everyone takes drugs, a lot of prostitution and dangerous.
As Colombian life in Colombia it depends the city you live in there's cities with people the are so educated but Medellin is like a city of sin Woman like Se and mur but if you go to Armenia or Manizales
It's interesting that people from your channel said, "Why in the world would you choose Peru instead of Colombia?" They clearly need to learn more about the realities of these two countries. Comparing Medellín to Lima is hardly fair, they offer entirely different experiences. Lima, the capital of Peru, sits on the stunning Pacific coastline, providing breathtaking views. As a major international hub, the city makes travel easy and connects you to diverse global opportunities. While Medellín has its charm, Lima’s rich cultural heritage, once the heart of the Viceroyalty of Peru, which was the center of South America for hundreds of years during the Spanish colonial era, offers an experience that’s hard to beat in the region. And let’s not even get started on the food, that would almost be unfair, considering some of the world's best restaurants are in Lima.
1:00 Medellin better economy than Lima? look at the five star hotels. Look at the number of malls, look at the amount of money that Lima moves. look at the purchasing power, look at the new airport, look at the port, look at the new metro lines.... There is no comparison with Medellín.
The more one discovers about Peru the more one learns there is so much more to discover. If you love Cusco/Machu Pichu, I recommend Trujillo/Chan Chan, or Lake Titikaka. There are also amazing places with zero tourists, that are untouched by the modern world. Remote Andean valleys where Alpaca farmers tend there flocks amongst pre-Inka ruins. Caja Marca and Junin. I’ve been going to Peru for 20 years now. Still there is so much left for me to explore.
You’re absolutely right about the apartments in Lima-they’re just like those in Manhattan, complete with a doorman. I lived in Bogotá, Colombia, for a few months, though I’m not sure what I was thinking at the time. Colombia has been a narco-nation for the past 60 years, that I know of. That explains a lot.
@@TravelSpanish-j3v In Bogotá, you can't trust anyone. I considered myself a guest so I won't rant about all the negative incidents I went through. Off topic - Nicaragua is nice safe charming country with easy visa requirements. What we hear or read about is pure propaganda. The cost of living is lower, You can eat at local restaurant for $5. Thanks for your comments. Peru and Colombia have different approach on moral values. Colombia is good for adventures who are looking for sex-tourism , easy access to drugs, parties and tropical beaches. They do not see prostitution as something bad , even if we ask them, will answer it is ok, it is a natural "thing". Peru is a conservative country, so the mentioned above is seen as something bad. Besides this, some years ago, I was in a nice restaurant with my black friends from the USA. Some diners stared at us and looked at us up and down. My friends were very uncomfortable, and a white Peruvian family was observing us every moment. Are you a journalist?. have you heard about the protest in Barranco against some graffiti saying " NO negros en Barranco",(2022) of course Barranco major said, "Barranco is not a racist place", but in 2023, the municipality erased a mural dedicated to an environmental defender ( an Indigenous woman) I was in Medellin couple times, yes, I have never seen many people in the street sleeping like Medellin or maybe similar like Vancouver in Canada or San Francisco in the USA, in Medellin, I walked a lot, and saw many Botero sculptures in the street, have you found sculptures in Lima?
