Thank you for this amazing story from a long-ago TV anthology series. The more things change, the more they stay the same. While this was a success story, poverty, sadly, has increased in America to the point of homelessness, of those living on the streets of cities and towns. What is the solution? More middle-income jobs, but that appears to be a difficult objective. We are a generation, or so, removed from a society that relied on jobs with one employer for long stretches. Everything is short-term employment, thereby changing jobs more often than not.
Thanks so much for sharing this sweet, heart-touching story. It brought me to tears. What a blessing it is to know everything worked for the good of Billie & her entire family.
Well, I've been watching your fine selection of programs from my childhood and enjoying them for a couple of weeks. So, I may as well subscribe. Thank you for your work.
Very sweet and charming story. My only comment - how in the world did they manage to make SIX KIDS while everyone was living in the car? I'll bet there are some interesting "untold stories" from the older kids. LOL
It's such a heart warming film. Sadly, it's still happening today in Haiti and other poor countries. Many parents in Haiti want their children to get an education & the children are willing to walk to school through rugged terrain but there's no money. They live in huts and sometimes go for days without food.
@@Sheba-bh7lc you don’t know Southern Schools then. I live in Texas, in a small town, and I turned out great just like my Mom in public school and graduated with honors from college
@@amberjacobs1996 Curriculum is state mandated but wokeness has infiltrated most states. I have been in the public schools and I know what they are. Homeschooling is best.
@@amberjacobs1996 Liberals are everywhere in government education, Texas has them too. Don’t become complacent, that is dangerous. I’ve heard the same thing many times and then there are the ones who just don’t care because it IS everywhere. Liberals teach it and train the kids to keep quiet.
Living a life like this is so distressing. Having to sleep , cook and eat outdoors is bad enough. But what about the sanitary facilities ? How do they bathe and answer the calls of nature ? 😮
What a wonderful movie ❤
Thanks for sharing this video ! I once read the story of her in Readers Digest. It’s very inspirational I never forgot it.

The old school bus in the film reminds me of the school buses that were at the school that my mom taught at.
This is why education is important in America because of Billie’s Story.
Public education in America now is not what it once was and is not fit for children. Homeschool is the way to educate children now.
