I love what Da'Mon is doing.

same. I have been practicing HEMA for a while, and what Da'Mon is doing gives me nostalgia to the early days of my training, constantly experimenting and interpreting what I could. He is doing great things, and it is clear that he is already an incredible swordsman.

Me? Using this video as a reference to make concept art for a character? You bet. (No but really this is super helpful, thanks for making this!)

2:17 yeah, that's factual, in sword fighting there is some mixture of wrestling and punch striking when you are too much at close quarters with your enemy.
I always like to go for a quick duck with my legs to keep myself well grounded and to make it more difficult for my opponent to lift me, and then punch quickly the chin with a hook, or as it was done usually in ancient times, pull out a dagger and stab.
Actually even kicking was included and mixed up with sword striking, front kicks for example where used quite much to taunt or to provoke or to push the opponent away from cutting you, in Greece pankration was a reality and at that time swords were short around 50cm around the Mediterranean and in the Middle East. So you had freedom to kick, because straight kicks have more range than sword strikes.
In egypt wrestling and striking was common practice as in Greece too. Actually even the art of pancration has been imported from Greece to Egypt when the country got Hellenized when Alexander annexed it into his empire.

Great stuff! keep exploring keep questioning keep thinking about what you do! Haven't read you Bio but am a correct in seeing a bit of legacy Aikido in your movement? khopesh is a really interesting weapon you can see how complications to the design have been added.... by which how the shape has been made more complex from the basic straight length of metal with an edge. Complications improve efficiency of a given application but increase specialisation. You see sword designs that more and more complications are added until it is useless for anything but one specific task. The khopesh gets pretty close to the perfect balance. keep up the research! Respect to all.

I dig the use of the shape and the movement into grappling. Makes sense for a short blade.

If you get in a fight and Khopesh is sharpened on both sides (which is stupid) you could lob an arm off simply by blocking the attack

your choreography is entertaining, but that guy is walking into every one of your slices like he's brandishing a much longer (and more heavier) weapon, you guys close in like its practice, IRL i doubt anyone would have taken such huge risks with such a short weapon with a weapon thats designed to be used with a shield.
