Walsh is definitely severely mentally ill, and should have nothing to do with adults, let alone children. For him it's not just a grift, there is this horrible lingering sense of authenticity to his persona. It's not hard to tell a slick conman from a true believer, if you're not one of the people under their spell. What's most abhorrent about it is that he is given a platform and paid to run his mouth there, offering him sense of validation even beyond his normal Gawd-brain self-delusions. That, more than anything else that Ben Shapiro does makes me sick. Walsh is the type of guy who would push Ben in a vat of boiling acid, if his "religious sensibilities" (aka megalomaniac narcissism) was pointing him in that direction, and he'd be able to get away with it in legal terms. That's what that part of "I would do anything to..." is. Those not so veiled threats about him potentially, some day, exploding with unhinged murderous rage over what is essentially nothing but a bomb he's been building in his own brain over these years. Honestly, he reminds me quite a bit of mass stabber/shooter Elliot Rodger when he was making video after video about how unfair and terrible women are and how they need to be punished by him, how entire world needs to be punished for "rejecting" him.

My 11 year old girl put on some serious makeup today, we are visiting my dad and when he saw it he jokingly said to take it off. She came down and asked me if I think she shouldn't wear makeup like that. I told her that my opinion is completely irrelevant when it comes down to what she wants and what makes her happy, and i accept anything she feels is right for her. I told my dad and he apologized and felt bad that she took him seriously and that he made her feel bad. I'm a bit traditional in some ways and my dad is very much more so, but he understood immediately that he messed up my making her feel any type of way, and my biggest goal is to make sure my kids are happy with who they are and how they are. Nothing matters more then a child's self image and the comfort they have in their own skin, and ultimately your acceptance of that.
It really is on point, and I'm speaking from my own experience here living in a blood red state with a very conservative father and a complacent (at best) mother. That statement sums up traditional conservative parenting in a nutshell. I know I for one would've been spared a lot of heartache and resentment if only my own father had simply loved me for who I am, instead of shaming and ridiculing me for who I'm not. Because I am not him. And I'm not even trans or gay, so I can only imagine what those kids are going through on a daily basis. Now I'm a father of two boys myself, just like my parents, and I'm really trying my best to be the best father I'm capable of being, and to cast out all the behaviors I inevitably inherited from my own father. I know I'm doing better than he was to me, but it's still a daily struggle for me to not resort to those toxic behaviors. Because that's just what I learned from him and I guess I didn't have many other positive role models to show me the right things to do. But I certainly know all the wrong things to do, so I guess that counts for something.

I was raised in a private far right christian school, so I have personal experience with people just like Matt Walsh. And let me tell you, people like him think nothing of committing violence against their own children. The best case scenario for his kids, if they happened to be anything other than cisgender heterosexuals, is that they are disowned. Worst case scenario is much, much darker.

Trans youth homelessness is unfortunately common which is why so many fear to come out and live as themselves, rather they end up repressing and becoming hateful monsters like Walsh.

My youngest son is trans. He is the farthest thing from self loathing. My son has more courage and bravery in his pinky than I will ever have. My son is unapologetically himself and I am so proud of him for it. He is creative, funny, and very smart. By first grade my son was reading at 4th grade level and now in 5th grade has a better vocabulary than most adults I know. Kids are smarter than adults give them credit for, some of them incredibly so, and if you pay attention to your kids you won't be as surprised when they tell you who they are. When my son came out it was an adjustment for our family and I worried about his safety more than anything but I wasn't exactly surprised. Pay attention to your kids. Get to know them as people.
@TabiTash, thank you! I am the dad of an amazing 16yo trans daughter. As I have heard others say, and I can echo, the fact that she is trans is aming the least interesting things about her. She is one of the most authentic people I know. She cares about people and is COURAGEOUS in defense of her friends who are trans (and those who aren't). We are currently fighting several anti-trans youth bills where we live. My daughter has spoken out in meetings with state senators and representatives; she has been interviewed multiple times on our local news. She makes me so damn proud every day! I remember the story some years ago of the father who disowned his child for coming out as trans. His child ultimately committed s*. That loss finally opened his eyes to how horrible this bigotry really is and he started speaking out. So many cannot see it until it effects them personally and it is sad.

His definitions of "child mutilation" and "sex charged performance" don't make any sense. For example: for him, drag done by queer people is "inherently sexual" because of the history of sexually-charged drag shows made by queer people. But he also thinks that drag done by non-queer people is perfectly fine (see: Mrs. Doubtfire, various Shakespeare plays), even though there is a past history of sexually-charged drag made by non-queer people (see: WW2). No sense.

Great work Emma! I'm consistently horrified by the Matt Walsh's rhetoric. What I think in particular people need to pay attention to is his rhetoric is ramping up, becoming more and more extreme and its now other people adopting a similar level of transphobia. Furthermore he's now sitting in front of lawmakers with a platform to potentially advance his cause. I agree its genocidal language which is very much on the path to a genocide. But there are still more steps to go. I've seen others on the left and in particular trans communities talk about a genocide occurring. However, I think its more worthwhile to talk warn of a Progrom occurring. Not only are we dangerously close to that eventuality, but I think for more people its easier to comprehend making it less likely to be dismissed.

You know what's crazy is he actually didn't say that at all. I think that's the problem with todays media. Everything is in 30seconds clips. Nobody listens to the entirety of anything anymore but they'll listen to 25% and come away with very strong, emotional reactions when it's possible, had they just listened to whole thing, they would have a totally different reaction. My 11 year old girl put on some serious makeup today, we are visiting my dad and when he saw it he jokingly said to take it off. She came down and asked me if I think she shouldn't wear makeup like that. I told her that my opinion is completely irrelevant when it comes down to what she wants and what makes her happy, and i accept anything she feels is right for her. I told my dad and he apologized and felt bad that she took him seriously and that he made her feel bad. I'm a bit traditional in some ways and my dad is very much more so, but he understood immediately that he messed up my making her feel any type of way, and my biggest goal is to make sure my kids are happy with who they are and how they are. Nothing matters more then a child's self image and the comfort they have in their own skin, and ultimately your acceptance of that.

It really is on point, and I'm speaking from my own experience here living in a blood red state with a very conservative father and a complacent (at best) mother. That statement sums up traditional conservative parenting in a nutshell. I know I for one would've been spared a lot of heartache and resentment if only my own father had simply loved me for who I am, instead of shaming and ridiculing me for who I'm not. Because I am not him. And I'm not even trans or gay, so I can only imagine what those kids are going through on a daily basis. Now I'm a father of two boys myself, just like my parents, and I'm really trying my best to be the best father I'm capable of being, and to cast out all the behaviors I inevitably inherited from my own father. I know I'm doing better than he was to me, but it's still a daily struggle for me to not resort to those toxic behaviors. Because that's just what I learned from him and I guess I didn't have many other positive role models to show me the right things to do. But I certainly know all the wrong things to do, so I guess that counts for something.

My youngest son is trans. He is the farthest thing from self loathing. My son has more courage and bravery in his pinky than I will ever have. My son is unapologetically himself and I am so proud of him for it. He is creative, funny, and very smart. By first grade my son was reading at 4th grade level and now in 5th grade has a better vocabulary than most adults I know. Kids are smarter than adults give them credit for, some of them incredibly so, and if you pay attention to your kids you won't be as surprised when they tell you who they are. When my son came out it was an adjustment for our family and I worried about his safety more than anything but I wasn't exactly surprised. Pay attention to your kids. Get to know them as people.

@TabiTash, thank you! I am the dad of an amazing 16yo trans daughter. As I have heard others say, and I can echo, the fact that she is trans is aming the least interesting things about her. She is one of the most authentic people I know. She cares about people and is COURAGEOUS in defense of her friends who are trans (and those who aren't). We are currently fighting several anti-trans youth bills where we live. My daughter has spoken out in meetings with state senators and representatives; she has been interviewed multiple times on our local news. She makes me so damn proud every day!

What I think in particular people need to pay attention to is his rhetoric is ramping up, becoming more and more extreme and its now other people adopting a similar level of transphobia. Furthermore he's now sitting in front of lawmakers with a platform to potentially advance his cause.
I agree its genocidal language which is very much on the path to a genocide. But there are still more steps to go. I've seen others on the left and in particular trans communities talk about a genocide occurring. However, I think its more worthwhile to talk warn of a Progrom occurring. Matt Walsh, essentially, does not believe that gender dysphoria exists but is the result of some vague conspiratorial brainwashing. So what he calls 'mutilations' are functionally cosmetic surgeries for the sake of peace of mind and security. When you look at the old footage of Matt Walsh, when he was posting apologia for offenders in the Catholic Church, it's pretty clear that he has had hair transplants. The incredibly loose terms he uses for 'mutilation' are equally true to him, and for immeasurably pettier reasons.
As good a case could be made for mutant. I'd say he's as neurotypical as trans people for its equally unusual for somebody to advocate in such full-throated defence of sex offenders as Matt Walsh has, not just in stances of the Catholic Church but also in men involved with 15 year old girls. The fact that he constantly accuses trans people of 'gr.ooming' is further case that he's projecting.
Twisted explains itself, and I think at this point self-loathing does too. He is a complete creep and he characterises others as malevolent based largely on his own warped pathology. This makes me wary of anyone who wants to play apologist for him, sodium chloride.

The medical/scientific community is a field that should not be put on a pedestal. I can guarantee you right now that the medical practice of this will be banned in the future. How do I know this? Well, some brief history can be plugged in here.
Lobotomy was a "psychosurgery" that lasted about 20 years. From the 1930s to 1950s. It was then banned nationwide because they found out driving a spike up your skull was not an effective method of treating mood disorders and schizophrenia.
There's also the 19th century "discovery" of phrenology. It took a long time for this field of study to be debunked and thrown into the pseudo science trash bin. This was also the same field of study that declarity stated that people such as myself, black, were inferior because of the shape of our skulls.

@@donkeyparadise9276 "man" and "woman" are socially constructed ideas and are neither immutable nor innate. They mean different things to different people, and the ideas of "what it means to be a man" and "what it means to be a woman" change depending on time, place, culture, lifestyle, etc.
If you said "being a male or female is immutable and innate" then you might have had a leg to stand on because you are at least rooted in a very shallow understanding of biology. However, this also fails to recognize the existence of intersex people, and even within the categories of "male" and "female" there are small differences between individuals. In truth, even biological sex is not nearly as simple as it might appear.

Gender identity is something that people fabricated but biology is pure fact. Biology doesn't determine personality traits, it's just what you *are*.
It's all kinda like a delusional form of religion where it's basis isn't on fact. It relies solely on how you *feel* and on *faith* . It gives you security even to explain things to give you internal peace.
