Ustad Sabz Ali, a paragon of the Punjab Baaj of tabla, has graciously chosen the Takiya Online channel to release an exclusive tabla solo for our global community. The solo includes select Punjab compositions presented in Sabz Ali's flowing style.
About the Artist
Ustad Sabz Ali is a torchbearer of the Punjab Baaj of tabla playing. As a soloist, Sabz Ali's repertoire consists of rare compositions from the line of the legendary polymath musician, Baba Malang. Sabz Ali learned his craft from his grandfather, Ustad Inayat Ali Sultani who was a senior shagird of Baba Malang. He also learned from his father, Ustad Jan Muhammad Sultani, and proceeded later to take taleem from Khalifah Akhtar Hussain and Ustad Aslam Khan (Accha Pehlwan) of Sialkot.
Sabz Ali has toured internationally on several occasions and received the Pride of Performance award from the Government of Pakistan in 2017. He is based in Peshawar where he has been affiliated with radio, television and other institutions.
