I completely agree, cops need more and better training. They don't however need more Military equipment. They could do both though. 50 years ago last January, I was appointed a policeman and never did I leave a backup gun in the car with a prisoner. A backup gun is on your person at all times. After viewing this video, I am disappointed in the officers involved in this debacle. I would hope the officer who left his backup gun in the car where this clown was able to get it, is sent back to the academy and do it all over again. You always make sure the cuffs and tight and secure. Not to cut off blood circulation but to make sure skinny wrists cannot get passed the cuffs. Is it just me or does anyone else love the sound of brass hitting a hard surface
50 years ago last January, I was appointed a policeman and never did I leave a backup gun in the car with a prisoner. A backup gun is on your person at all times. After viewing this video, I am disappointed in the officers involved in this debacle. I would hope the officer who left his backup gun in the car where this clown was able to get it, is sent back to the academy and do it all over again. You always make sure the cuffs and tight and secure. Not to cut off blood circulation but to make sure skinny wrists cannot get passed the cuffs. I am surprised the Chief of Police allowed this video to be released as it does not show his officers in a very good light in my opinion.
Transparency is always important though. Chief shouldn't be allowed to stop the release.

Edit: I know he didn’t die and I should have clarified. My point is the guy put himself in danger and could have easily died. I mean the dude got shot. One well placed round and he wouldn’t have walked out of that police station alive. They gave him every chance to surrender and they really did try to protect his life but the guy took it for granted and ended up getting shot then bit by dog.

The thing is they did a poor job of searching him. That gun should have been found before they even put him in the car. That could have been deadly for one or more of them.
