I remember 10 years ago I would deal with PCs which would stall during boot. To me, this was mystifying, because I didn’t know where to start to look for the cause. I asked around my IT friends but they really weren’t interested, because in the enterprise even simple corruptions equal fresh rebuild. So the “art” of fixing Windows is kind of irreverent to many. Only now, I’m regretting that there were actually concrete answers to my questions. Usually, most of Windows corruptions are due to a few files or a registry setting. Windows being royally borked is actually fairly rare, unless the storage media failed.
I'm a *nix developer and I'm quite curious about your last statement. Could you please give me any feature that WinDbg have and is not present in GDB?. Regards!.
