Hey, hope you enjoyed the video! The main purpose of this video is to help dispel a few myths about DayZ and this outmoded reputation I keep hearing about, as well as highlight a bigger issue. Also, many people seem to conflate console DayZ and PC DayZ but they’re entirely separate entities, each with their own independent pros and cons. But it in no way claims DayZ doesn’t have hackers - I did a whole piece about it but ended up removing it from the final cut. But to be clear, PC still has many hackers - enough that I sometimes just straight up avoid official, but it’s nowhere near the level of other online games. Right now, we’re in a weird era where PC gaming is a global hackfest and despite the hundreds of thousands of bans by some companies, it’s still not improving. So, comparatively, DayZ is actually doing quite well and I’m hoping to see further improvements in this area in future. Compare the state of DayZ today with only 3 years ago - how much has DayZ improved? In my view - it's night and day. But let me know what you think in the comments! =]
@@lewisgarland1259 all the anti-cheats are trash, if you can make your own driver i visual studios not one anti-cheat will catch you, there is also a way to run the cheat on vm and it will show on your main screen you need your own server and easy bypass they make to much money they dont update that fast there system if you bypass it ones and its not getting leaked they wont patch it.
my server official btw just got hacked. two months of gathering in unknown base went to shit, because some guy standing 1 km away headshots all of server and steals loot, destroys buildings. fuck that guy.
Just lost all my loot too. That was 2 months worth of work. I don't think i've ever been killed by them before but after a long trip for looting i come back to a house that looks absolutely fine yet all my crates are gone. They despawn in 45 days, there's no way in hell 20 crates just placed themselves outside of a LOCKED house then dissapeared after 3 days.

Update for the past 10 days. My clan has set up 6 different bases out in 6 different areas on the map. This includes a base buried on top of 2 wolf spawns and also a base buried in a greenhouse and a base hidden in Skyrim mountain and the 2 islands. We have been robbed 6 times…and also we just noticed there are no more cars or trucks or humvees on the map. We have a decently big clan and we checked every car spawn in tier 1 and 2 zones. Almost done checking tier 3 and 4 car spawns. Another thing we have noticed is…everyone has left the server in the past few months…when this hacking shit first started to happen. As of now…my clan seems to take up the majority of an official server although that was never the case before. It used to be full server and now it’s always at least 1/2 empty and sometimes only 3-4 people left on the server. All the other known bases (that don’t belong to my clan) have also all been robbed. Aka I think a hacker has teleported around and fucked up all the bases and cars on an official server…and essentially 80% of the server left in the past few months. Oh also not to mention how we occasionally got spawn sniped. Again…with the randomized spawns all over the map…dude would know where dude was gonna spawn…each time. Then he managed to run 100KM in 5 seconds and pick a perfect spot and take out the fresh spawn on the other side of the map…before he got bored and B-lined back to stealing cars and destroying bases I guess… Some of these bases had nothing in them…there would have been no benefit to blowing them up…except if he is a hacker and has unlimited explosives for every single base on the official server. If it takes 6 grenades to take down 1 base fence and walls…dude used 36 grenades just on my clan’s stashes in the last 10 days. Not to mention all the other clans we know about too…what’s the chances of someone new joining an official server and immediately finding 100+ grenades…every single base on the map…and spawn killing people all over the map?
After 700+hours I have uninstalled Day Z, a game I love, the devs focus and update the game so much but the cheating is never focused on and its getting worse.
I first played DayZ on PC. Had that problem. Couple years later got a series x. Play it on console now. Not one cheater haha. Now. Youve really only got one good map. (Chernarus) and mods are very limited. But it runs good and I don’t randomly die from a IJ at 800m. (Edit) I was playing a server where a guy did get banned for cheating. He was on Cronus. Which is a problem on all platforms. But it’s much more rare on console. Not saying switch to console haha. Just saying due to the way they work. They can’t be hacked the same way.
every server has some cheaters even on community... trying to downplay the issue is a net negative for dayz. Not every cheater is using aimbot or admin tools. The good cheaters are very hard to catch on dayz.
the funny thing about all of this, is that if you've been a Gamer a really long time, you begin to see the patterns that pretty much all cheaters in all games adhere to. I started online gaming around 1996. These guys always use the same methodology, regardless of game and that makes it easy to spot them, in the long run. War Thunder is full of them.
@@carterscott8499 It's kind of difficult to explain. It's habits they fall into, thinking no one will ever notice. Shootings through things they can't see through. Watch some videos of Cheaters and you will begin to understand.
Good video, the one thing that you overlooked is that a hacker, especially in official where no admins can react to reports in them, can have a massive impact on many many people. So 1 person can fuck over dozens, potentially hundreds of players, making their impact massive.
Yup. Official console dayz I’m done for. You just get swarmed by a group and get thumpered through windows and gassed. Don’t stand a chance the hackers ruin this shit. They use the combat log method. Log out close app log back in. Also there is a white wall method that is still out there involving a plate Carrier.
@@AngryOlive_ The problem is that they hop around from server to server. I play on ONE official server that usually has around 10-20 people on it MAX. So when I randomly see 30+, I'm immediately suspicious. And that's when this always happens. The bases I build are so well-fortified and so cleverly hidden that there's no way some random players would come across it and destroy the entire thing in the span of 30 minutes since I've been logged out. Impossible. They know where the bases are, what's in them, if anyone is inside or near. It's not a coincidence, it happens the same way to me every time. Then the cheaters steal the loot, log off, and do it to another server. I don't know what fun they find in doing this, but I genuinely wish ill upon them in their real lives.
@@logicaldude3611 i totally agree with you. It’s not a coincidence. Ive emailed and complained to bohemia and they respond with “the devs are aware of the issue”. I refuse to play on official servers.
Literally my first day back a guy runs up and tells me he has cheats on and proceeds to tell me where every item in the area is, and then walks me to them. Yes, absolutely it's full of cheaters.
Great video, but I would like to point out an important nuance. On official servers, the issue is much worst than the proclaimed 0.2% of hackers. The issue is that, saying there is only 0.2% hackers based on banned players is an over-optimistic estimate, especially for DayZ. Most hackers are not banned by BattleEye anti-cheat, it is not known to be a great anti-cheat. I suspect the numbers to be much higher if we're counting closet cheaters that don't use blatant cheats or toggle it from time to time. The thing is, with DayZ, it's not like CSGO where you have hackers using it most of the game, there is no "game" in DayZ. One could imagine that if a hacker uses hacks to get loot fast (see loot locations or player locations to get kills/loot) then turn the hacks off because the hacker has the loot he wanted, then it makes it extremely hard (even for admins) to spot this, hence I think it is much harder to catch cheaters on DayZ than other online games. Therefore I don't think it's fair to make a statement about DayZ hackers situation based on such overly-optimistic estimate.

It also conducts ban waves, making it challenging for cheaters to pinpoint what specific actions led to their ban. The effectiveness of BattleEye isn't game-specific; its core algorithms and detection methods are consistent across all games it protects. Therefore, if BattleEye is successful in mitigating cheating in other various and similar types of titles, it's reasonable to assume it performs similarly in DayZ. To assume an exception would require a lot of proof given the information we already have. This is because the most popular and relied-on hacks mostly use similar approaches to achieving their goal, and it's entirely possible to have a single hack work across multiple games. Plus, its continuous scans mean 10 seconds - 10 minutes - 10 hours - is all the same with regards to its detection capabilities. Anything outside of this scope has secondary filters, one of my favourites being the behavioural ones. (Honestly, this area is so interesting. I think the Chess.com anti-cheating technology is a perfect example of how effective behavioural analysis is, but on a much more complex level.) But when we consider the number of bans in relation to the game's player base, plus everything else, the 0.2% figure offers a fairly accurate snapshot of the state of cheating in DayZ. That is not to say an exact outline. While I agree that no anti-cheat system is foolproof and "closet cheaters" may go undetected, the data we have still arguably provides a valuable baseline for understanding the scope of the issue.
so many hackers....ruin the game. vanilla is unplayable. and there is still no tool to report them. this is the main reason for the slowly dying of this game
There aren't that many hackers and the game isn't dying, it's growing. Just had its highest numbers ever which continue to increase. It's a top 20 Steam game most months
I had one moment where in official server dude was shooting at me from another side of town with zero line of sight. I heard bullet cracks and impacts all around when running from building to building and as soon as I made line of sight with him from around 400 meters I got instantly killed like he knew where I was at all times.
He was probably using a lag-switch. You know how sometimes in the big towns it takes awhile to render everything and sometimes even has to re-render everything and it all becomes see through?…..Yeah. He’s making that happen on purpose so he can see you at all times and just kept shooting at you not being able to see the walls. Until he got lucky and there wasn’t anything in the way. I used to run with a team that would have one guy constantly closing and relaunching his game during base raids due to you getting the same effect on the first load-in after launching the game. Then he’d relay the locations of the defenders to the rest of the team. This actually happens way more than you’d think. And the devs just won’t ever address it.
Same thing with me today. Dam shame spending 6 hours looting gear from town to town just to get killed by the first human encounter all day long from 10 k miles away. Can’t even enjoy a descent shoot out like the videos posted. Oh wait I’m wrong you can be a VICTIM !!of a shoot out as a fresh spawn with a fully loaded glow stick. 3.2.1. Uninstalled.
I think another issue is that when you die from a hacker in Dayz it’s so devastating. A pose to a battle royal type game when you get hacked on you’re back in the game in seconds. In Dayz going from full kit to an apple on the coast is such a blow. So I think when it happens it heightens the situation more. I’ve been playing official servers again and it’s not bad
If I log into certain Official servers with any decent gear I get killed by a hacker within 5-10 minutes, but if I load in as a freshly im safe until I find a couple good guns - then I get sniped through several buildings lmao

The biggest problem with Admins is that they have power. Power corrupts. I've been an admin on many servers and have always come to disagree with other Admins on how they are abusing their power and not following the rules they laid out. This often gets me removed from Admin status and kicked from Discord without so much as a thank you for your service. I also have over 8000 hours in the game and use to love to play PVP servers. I had to give up on PVP because of all the cheaters. Starting watching Anarchy HD and saw that I was correct in my views that there are cheaters everywhere. This cheating ruins the game for all who work hard to survive and follow sound tactics only to be one shot in the head from an IJ-70 from 400m away. Most times when I get killed I can hear the gun shot and impact but have experienced a lot of sudden black screens and no sound at all. Just "You are dead". and with no idea how it happened. I still enjoy playing the game but don't spend the time on it like I use to. Many Private servers use way to many mods that either conflict with the server gameplay and overlap loot. This also creates a lot of useless items that make it harder to find most used items like repair kits. But even the Vanilla game has this problem. I don't know how many times I've joined a Dedicates server only to find Smoke grenades for the newly added grenade launcher in almost every barrack I search.
I have like 250-300 hours in this Game, and ive been killed several times obviously, but ive never ever Heard the shot, do you mean not hearing the shot is not normal?
Yeah it seems like there's just a bunch of cheaters on community servers too. Always just out of no where someone will walk up to you no matter how much you sneak and play slow. You'll never see them but they'll always see you literally no matter what.

Hackers love a few hours before updates . My friends first few gunfights inside LA Server 8901 was getting headshot through a shed with the door closed (1 bullet, didn’t miss a single shot blindly shooting through walls…) then proceeded to spawn kill him with the same sniper…no matter where he spawned or which building he runs inside. The entire official server besides the hacker also died and logged out - not just my friend whom was streaming at the time. Sadly…I dont think Valve would ever do anything about AntiCheat until RIOT Games releases a DayZ copy with RIOTs’ anti cheat that WORKS!!!
PS- the reason why I feel comfortable telling you which server it is on…is because we moved servers. In fact- 3 months ago this server had a queue to get into it. Today there is less than 5 people on that server at any given time.
There are an abundance of hackers on official. A moment I’ve personally had was running down a road to meet up with a friend, out of no where grenades started falling from the sky. I quickly sprinted around and at least 6 grenades were dropped on top of me until I was blown up. Before this I noticed the hacker flying above me. This was only one of many examples I’ve had in dayz. I’d say at least 15% of my deaths were from hackers. My dead body having all its loot stripped in an instant with no player around other than a friend who witnessed it, full auto’d with a crossbow, shot through multiple layers of concrete with no other entry points, grenades dropped from the sky. This game is infested with hackers and devs need to implement a better anti cheat.
Private servers are fine. Officials are pretty bad, at least in my experience. Almost every official I'm on, can't make it through a weekend without getting killed by a hacker. And this isn't the 'no way he could have made that shot' type of "hacking". This is pretty obvious wall-hacking and/or aimbot, usually when I'm in a group with three other people who all die to the same guy in the smae way. I'll give people that you can make an 'impossible' shot once or twice, but four times in a row without a miss pretty much defies the odds.
It's a rule to play dayz with dayz launcher on community servers if you're on pc. Official is plagued with cheats that are undetected by battlelog, Aimbot, ESP/Wallhack, Radar Hack and other scummy sht is rampant on official servers, avoid them like the plague that they are.
Learned this the hard way. Had a killer base on official with 2 buddies. We were inside our base - completely covered and cooking. All of a sudden we hear shots from a few towns over. And then all 3 of us die at the same time instantly. Turns out dude had what basically was just a "kill player" command - and he shoots the random shots too sort of hide himself. We were furious. Switched too community and nothing but bliss since
official servers are riddled, played it once and me and my friend got aimbotted from 1km within 10 minutes and i know this because i had the ability to see players like that. play modded, big servers have way less cheaters, but that said it is fucking riddled with them, i mean it. RIDDLED.
The best part is servers like Server name: LEGENDARY GAMING, they allow clans like TC and STINK to cheat all the time with no repercussions because they are major contributors LMAO. And then when you call them out you get banned for cheating so they say!!!
Damn, I wish I had your experience. Once every year or two, I get into the mood to play DayZ, I no life it and make an epic base in a week, then it gets taken over by hackers in an instant, like through 7 layers in the snap of a finger. Proof of Wallhacks, or even flash deaths where there's no gunshot or anything. Tried both public and private servers. I'm playing on a manhunt server and I hope the discord admins care to ban this team
I just started this month and our first successful run, my friend encountered someone invisible (he sent a screenshot) standing 2 feet in front of him, fully kitted. They didn't harm us, even provided a car package, and warned of another hacker group that was "bad" in Servograd.
The biggest problem with cheating is that we don't know if the other guy is cheating or not unless it is obvious cheating, so the real number is unknown. It is very annoying to think every time you die if the guy is cheating or not. If all games had some complex replay system for us to check if we got killed by cheaters or not, online games would be better.
I had never used or seen aimbot on video before so I didnt really know how it functioned but a guy i knew was talking about how this player from another clan had recorded his gameplay and uploaded to youtube and he said that the guy shoots somebody few hundred meters and then just turns and snaps onto this guy that was like 900 meters behind him right after he shot him. I kept that in mind and was just running to NWAF and here comes a guy running full speed at an angle heading away from me (i was well out of his field of view per angle he was running) and he just all of a sudden stops and turns and is facing right at me moving side/side like he's expecting me to shoot and he doesn't even look through his scope and im 350 yds away laying down at base of a bush then he runs back the way he came a little then i get up and run to put a wide row of bushes between me and him and I get hit twice on full speed run with thick bushes between me and him with a bolt action kar98k. The way the guy was running full speed and suddenly just knows im 135 degrees from the center of his view somehow really made me suspect something so i went to youtube to look at a video of aimbot and i see there's a lot more than aimbot out there and the software also highlights any/all players within a certain radius of you. Maybe this guy has psychic powers but I'd be willing to say its more like something is alterting him to players near him. There was no way he saw me the angle he was running and just suddenly snaps onto me..... bullshit.
As an ordinary player of 5000 hours. I have encountered dozens of hackers. Teleporters, ppl who cannot die when magdumped on, hacker blowing up the whole of Chernarus literally, player hiding in a bugged area unable to be seen and shoots me, ESP hacker immediately turning around and starts shooting me in a hidden area, etc.
That’s what happened on rearmed to me I was trying to play like a real sniper and they just ban me calling me a cheater when I have been in the army and know how people move
I got banned for raiding an owner's base on a different server xD There are so many comments made to me from people with crappy admin experiences, it's unreal. I would make a video outing them, but I can never 100% verify so I wouldn't want to damage the reputation of a good server accidentally. Because lots of times it's the player's fault.
I can see how a pc player can get angry at hackers even tho they weren't killed by hackers. I see myself just die at random on concole, no sound or warning, just a blood splatter and my character falling to the floor.
on one hand you are right with the fact that people often think of hacker when they die but on the other hand DayZ especialy official servers have big issue with hackers, i love to play vanila but to go on official is always risky, i avoid "hot spots" on map becouse of hackers i cant tell you how many times i just died with my friends ( usualy trio) all at the same time inside building like garage or even if we were further apart, good video tho, but mabye not every one is just crying that there are too many hackers, mabye we need to show devs that this problem, i would say main issue of DayZ is still there and needs to be solved
Feels like Bohemia is comfortable with the mentality that the majority of the playerbase is playing on community servers instead of official servers, where the moderators actually track down hackers through discord servers reports of suspicious deaths and other behaviours. In official servers we don't even have a report button yet (game's 10 years old btw)
Cheaters tends to lean to most popular servers. I've got killed by cheaters on Aftermath, Spaggies and KarmaKrew. I even reported latter but they "didn't find anything suspicious", just like the site sellimg laghack proposed. Those servers are no-go for me now, still have other servers which I didn't experienced anything suspicious for the whole time I've played. Anyway, due to nature of the game, cheaters are less often seen, but much more frustrating than those of EFT which is completely overwhelmed by them.
Here's the thing, chief... all it takes is a group of 5 hackers/cheaters/dupers/whatever to enter a server, know where every base is, blow them all to hell, take all the crap, and then jump off. I've put a few hundred hours into this game and I'm a lone wolf, hoarding, base-building wizard. I know how much time and effort it takes to have enough ammo/explosives to launch one base raid. But when I log off for half an hour and come back and my base (with walls 2-3 layers thick, no visibility from outside the building) is completely gone... I know that someone didn't legitimately do that. Last time it happened was today. Was literally logged off for half an hour and I log back in and my base is GONE and two guys are driving away in my truck and my car (that weren't drivable at the time). I caught up to one of them and he didn't even attempt to fight. He wasn't even armed. He put up his hands like he was blocking and as soon as I killed him, my character died. I wasn't shot, his teammate was long gone in the faster car. I don't know how this guy did it, but as soon as I killed him my character died also. I was just sitting there like, "Huh, what?" So what basically happened was in the span of 30 minutes, two guys managed to blow through 3 layers of walls, significantly repair 2 vehicles without the equipment there necessary to do it, dismantle my entire base and load it all up (there were probably 15 walls in the base), and take off as soon as my character was logging back in. It's extremely frustrating to put in so much time and effort into surviving and looting only to have it all taken away by some pimple-faced 16 year old cheaters who think it's all really funny.
I've seen a Facebook group with 10k followers, specifically for DayZ duping and exploits. If duping, glitching through walls, and xray exploits are considered "hacking" then there is most definitely a problem. Most people don't know about groups like these, and those that do usually wouldn't join these groups. It only takes one member of a several dozen strong clan to teach the ways of a scummy exploiter. Hacking is a huge problem in DayZ, but those that do it don't talk about it. Only large clans see the fallout from hackers because only large bases are targeted by exploiting server hoppers. It's a sad truth and I'm hopeful that the devs are more aware of the problem than the casual DayZ player.
Community servers can be cancerous af. I got banned for 'cheating' when in reality an admin was mad I raided their friend's base. Now I am banned from 90% of community servers (the ones using CFtools anyway). I left shittily administrated servers, went to official NY server and never looked back. Haven't encountered a cheater in over 200 hours.
There is a easy way to tell if you have been killed by a hacker, if you can’t hear a shot, especially on the coast its a hacker, further inland it could be a supressor. I played about 1.4K hours half of them on officials. Right now officials can’t be played bc of the amount of hackers… you can’t even report sus death… I always suggest to switch on mod server!
This actually isn't correct =] A lot of the time you won't hear a shot. DayZ has a realistic system so sound travels a lot slower than the bullet. Bullets travel 3x the speed of sound sometimes. You're out cold before the sound wave hits. Especially when you're on the coast because you have no armour, you're really squishy so most bullets are fatal. This is what I mean about how systems aren't explained in DayZ to players so it's assumed cheating.
@@AlwaysStreams Why is there no playback of the last 5 seconds with the shooter in the picture after death? That would be such an improvement in the game if you knew what actually happened. The black screen is so depressing. After that I have sometimes stopped playing for months.
Saw a video of a guy defending his base from freshies; just posting a dayz video when I noticed every time he hit the aim button it either shot to the left of his screen or straight onto one of the freshies heads. Bro was aimbotting with a grenade launcher against people without a weapon
Loved the video as usual! I absolutely agree with almost everything in this video. The one point I even slightly diverted in agreement was when you spoke about playing on servers with admins that are active on the server. In my opinion it’s absolutely imperative that the admins are active on the server they admin. You did address this by saying you want to find servers with “good” admins but it was your secondary point and should have been the primary points for a video like this. Most servers that have good admins are also active admins and don’t always have the capability of having an alt and shouldn’t either because that’s almost considered cheating in many circles as well. (New video idea? You’re welcome). I admin on our server and I am active. I often change the ingame name so people don’t bother me so much while I’m trying to enjoy myself. Our admins maybe be what you consider “good” but if people didn’t play merely because admins played on the server well that just doesn’t make sense to me.
I want to ask you something as admin you are, can you see where is everyone and where are the stashes and bases? Do you need 2 computers to play your own server?
@@manparido when you log in you can toggle admin tools on. You have to hit buttons to bring up the admin menu and select what you want to do. As an admin when I do play on the server, I don’t raid or seek stashes. You don’t need a second computer no. And having a second account is really inconvenient and isn’t really any different than logging in or out of the admin tools imo. So admins are faced with two choices. Be honest and good admins that want to help their community grow and make a safe and fun place to play or not play their server at all and not really know what’s going on in there other than when there is a problem. I believe in the latter and that you need to have boots on the ground to really k ow your server.
Built a base in one of those 5 story apartment buildings somehow a hacker flew in from an apartment building across from me because when I got on today he passed by 2 of my gates and blew out the top 1. Not sure how he got the loot out without going through my bottom 2 gates but who knows I’m not some greasy hacker.
They need to fix the stacking of gardens. My only complaint and it hasn't happened to me, yet. I want to stack everything else just not garden's. Really silly too like seriously.
Community, first person, no crosshairs, longer nights. Active but unobtrusive admin. These things keep hackers out and serious players in . Admins can make small tweaks to bring in the population they want without being a clingy admin twat . All about the Nuance .
as a man who has been playing actively since the afternoon that the arma 2 mod was released; the hacker situation is 1000% better than it was back then back then the entire server would get teleported to the woods while the hackers snapped their legs with scrips, you'd be forced to dance in place and often mamba off a building, every hacker knew how to spawn in weapons crates. i havent seen many hackers in SA really-- I think at least a percentage of claims are people that dont understand the game
I robbed a clan on a vanilla server, found their high end tents, robbed everything, even the tents. How on earth did they find my hideout (base), that was far, faaaaaaar away from where the robbery took place? They actually raided my base AND the place where I was hiding my car, all of that in a matter of hours... And both sites were *very* far from one another. It doesn't make sense to me unless there's cheating... I think its fair to get a beating because you've robbed a group and they gang up on you, but how on earth did they find both location so quickly? Is there a hack where they can track Items? Anyway...
I spent a whole month grinding and grinding to find out the game is unplayable I decided to cheat and unbelievable. The amount of cheaters I cought myself I will admin to was a dick but I also helped people who lost there car by cheaters. Might want to cover Cronus users. Having ran with console wrecking crews running these devices on top of being skilled, it's a casual players worst nightmare. And yes, some of these users are admins or mods.
Most people don't seem to understand how common they really are, but it's nothing like the blatant rage hacks you get on PC, so most of the time you can't even notice the difference...
I have thousands of hours on Dayz official. I've fought against many dupers, hard-loggers, you name it. I'm a solo. If anyone still plays official fair and square, I still play.
The thing about DayZ is that its so hard to tell if someone is just really good or cheating or if you just have bad luck. did you get sniped from 2000m by a hacker or did there just happen to be a fully geared guy hiding in the bush you just ran through, true story. I was certain a hacker killed me but I re watched the footage and saw him sticking out of a bush i ran by. I always recommend recording gameplay in DayZ it can save you some sleepless nights lol I've also been on the flip side, I had a full snow camo ghille on namalsk and was camoflauged with a surpressed KA. I was head shoting guys from 150-200 yards. I got 4 kills and the admin started up on me. showed him the footage he laughed and told them they just sucked but he had to review because like 8 people reported me hahaha. however in vanilla there is about a %30 chance you will die to a hacker. modded and regulated servers about 5%-10% chance of cheaters
Dude, when a Player just spawns in next to me in some random piece of real estate and smokes me, yeah, he is most likely cheating. Three times this happened this week. I tend to be on low pop servers (6 ppl or less) and the odds of them being where I am at are pretty dismal. It's ruining the game. I literally do better on the busy servers, but I don't farm there. I do the PVP aspects, of the game there. I only play the Official servers, as a rule. So, Admin abuse is not the issue. It is the Cheaters that farm by tracking the other Players.
COD players with zero situational awareness and zero patience complaining about getting killed by 'cheaters' in DayZ is a delicious irony and I'm here for it. BUT... The DayZ devs (and a good number of players) are either ignorant or in denial about cheaters. Cheaters are in every FPS game on the Internet. Wallhacks (ESP) are the most insidious cheats because they're not obvious to the victim, difficult for admins to prove, and the cheater only needs to toggle them for a single second at the right moments to get an overwhelming advantage during combat. DayZ is the perfect game for these kind of cheats. Naive players saying things like, "I've only run into a few hackers in my 3000 hours in DayZ," simply cant recognize modern cheating even when they're dying to it. Their stories are always about rage hackers head-shoting them behind cover from 800m away but the kids using those kind of aimhacks are easily spotted and quickly banned. It's the quiet ESP cheaters who hide their cheating that have so many of you fooled. Community servers and community anti-cheat tools are our only hope. And yes, you should be suspicious of some admins and even a few bad-egg server owners but for every whinge about admin abuse there are hundreds or even thousands of 'soft' cheaters who try to hide their ESP usage but always seem to know which corner you're about to come around. And your only hope against them is to find a trustworthy community server with admins who hate cheating as much as you do.
i've started to check server discords before joining servers now, usually they have a showcase section where players can upload videos of themselves playing. now if i see players left and right leaning and no scoping from 100metres out i tend to think cheater and not bother with the server
Play good community server with active admins and its good experience. I have been playing many PvP servers and had no major problems. There is cheaters and they ban like 0-10 a day, but with community shared ban lists the cheaters are out pretty fast.
Dayz is full of hackers, and a game like dayz doesnt need many hackers to ruin the game, since a hacker can easilly find you and your base, and that is a key point on Dayz. The logic of "there is no hackers cuz there is few bans" is completly messed up, it is like there is no crime cuz criminals are not being arested, hackers are there running freely messing up everything

I can tell you for a fact that if you play on a high population official (PC) server like NY 6032, NY6053, Multiplay 4146 etc., you will encounter a cheater. Lower populated servers, maybe you won't but obviously your experience will always vary in DayZ which is what makes it such a fun game to begin with. But saying cheaters are not a big problem just because you don't experience them as often as other people does nothing. Like I mentioned, your experience will vary, and that depends on how you choose to play. The worst thing about cheaters in DayZ isn't the actual cheats, it's the fact that Bohemia continues to do little to nothing about it while we have people like you saying cheaters aren't common because you play on console and community servers. Bohemia is silently using the community for their own gain while official servers get swept under the rug.
He says many times almost all his content is recorded on official pc because recording on console is a pain for quality. Also, bohemia have done countless things to try and make this better, have you read their last patches? have you seen the notes from battleeye on their spotlights and monthly updates? I play on NYs all the time and although ive encountered hackers occasionally in the past, it's a relief considering every other online game out there is actually a hackfest. PC is the issue, online PC is just awful and unplayable with most games, comparatively dayz is doing a much better job than a lot of AAA devs. 5 years ago this game was unplayable, but with all the patches, bans and adjustments the games had, it's one of the most playable.

He even says the servers he uses sometimes so others can join in. As for the rest, there are literally patch notes that show how wrong you are. DayZ is a cheater's heaven by design. There's no "matches" or "lobbies", where cheaters are merely a temporary nuisance, obvious to everyone, and easily reportable. One single cheater can ruin the whole game for up to 59 other people simultaneously, ALL DAY LONG. Imagine if World of Warcraft had aimbotters who 1-shot you from the other side of the world? If would be like that episode of South Park where one loser is griefing the whole WoW server. But that's the reality in DayZ.
By design? What evidence do you have for that assertion? I've been playing DayZ since the Alpha days. No, it's not a cheaters heaven. Part of the issue is that DayZ has a small development team. They don't have hundreds of people working on their game like AAA games such as Call of Duty have. I have played Call of Duty and Battlefield for years. Every time they drop a patch, they fix some bugs and create new ones. Even to this day, this still happens on AAA games.
I always just die out of nowhere impossibly (not to a bullet, like if I'm inside a building behind something and impossible to see) and come back to looted corpse still tho. Pretty sure they teleport bullets to your head then use esp to locate the body.
After a three years break i played on an official server. Within 12 hours of gametime i saw two, 100% confirmed hackers (hacking infront of everyone - because they didn´t give a f***. On private servers it only seems to be better, because the obvious hackers (unlike on official) will eventually get banned. Still everyone with more than ten braincells can use hacks in a way, that you will never be able to prove it without a doubt. Considering there are players ingame running 200 meters in 2 seconds, the anticheat is obviously a joke and this game dead for me.
I don't know if hackers killed me,but about three times I've been killed without hearing a shot. Basically I'm walking along and bleed bleed bleed pass out wake up bleed bleed dead.
DayZ has a realistic system so sound travels a lot slower than the bullet. Bullets travel 3x the speed of sound sometimes. So if shot, you're usually out cold before the sound wave hits. That's why sometimes you just drop =]
I spent weeks on an Official DAYZ server and had everything taken by a group of hackers it makes me so mad. Nobody should Buy DayZ because sure weeks no hackers but eventually one WILL RUIN it. Litterly made a base right next to me and took all my shit. He spawned in everything in a hour and my shit was gone and locked up then he sits in there shooting for a hour.. I put over a 300 hours on that server and now 1 hacker and its all gone LIVONIA 5012 RIP
Playing on ps5 and even on officials there are so many cheaters.. People try to say you can't cheat on console in DayZ.. Just look up Save Wizard, the creators of that have shown they CAN hack in online games, they just don't allow the general public sale of those hacks because if they did, they'd have BIG CCs after them as well as law enforcement. People download PC hacks to USB sticks and either plug them into their ps4 or a special controller that has USB options.. Almost every person I come across in Officials is a hacker, either clipping through walls, aimbot headshots, speed hacking, etc.. it's stupid.
I'm about 130 hours in mostly on official servers and had two deaths that were suspicious but also don't know the game well enough to say for sure. Think I'll set up one of those programs that record clips for you.
Been playing official for about 3 months now. Had some questionable deaths but last night was no doubt killed by a cheater ruining a honest 2 week run. Have it clipped, so pisssd!

Best server for the non-modded vanilla experience? Usually the official ones, right? Died last week on one of those due to an obvious cheater. But I still don't want to go on any community servers. Almost all of them have at least one or more mods.
I enjoy it, but I feel like if there’s so many hackers capable of actively hacking and aren’t banned, it isn’t far to say that the anti cheat software itself is just at fault. I’m sure that too some level it is inflated from stories and other points brought up here, but I still believe the percentage of players using hacks to be far greater then trying to be portrayed here. Though it was a nice video, just hope that one day we get a more solid way to get rid of cheaters.
So my admin hates me! He goes daily into my locked base, steals guns, steals crates, steals whatever he wants. Last time he deleted a complete wall with a red number lock and barb wire. One side of my base was missing when I returned. 3 month ago I was lying on the ground in my locked base in the woods and got a headshot from nowhere through the walls. So I experience hacker admins or whatever nearly every day in January 2024. Let me tell you, I hate you dudes!
Anti cheat programs in games detect only the most basic cheats. And knowing situation in online gaming in general, there is definitely plenty of undetected cheaters in this one to :D And ppl who deny it are part of the problem. Well soon enough cheating will be new normal..
Dayz sucks! Official servers are overrun with hackers or cheaters. It’s purely a waste of time to play because a hacker can easily steal all your stuff from your base that has taken a lot of time to obtain.

every bigger server has % of cheaters. Some are blatant, some are smart. Groups having players with radars/esp are pretty common. Aimbots, yeah easy to catch, but not esp/radar. Usually bigger groups have 1 or few players with esp/radar in their team who are working like scouts and giving info. True is, online competetive gaming is dead. Judging from community servers it is like ~5% at least. Should do simillar experiment like one guy did with tarkov, will be surprised.

The main purpose of this video is to help dispel a few myths about DayZ and this outmoded reputation I keep hearing about, as well as highlight a bigger issue. Also, many people seem to conflate console DayZ and PC DayZ but they’re entirely separate entities, each with their own independent pros and cons.
But it in no way claims DayZ doesn’t have hackers - I did a whole piece about it but ended up removing it from the final cut. But to be clear, PC still has many hackers - enough that I sometimes just straight up avoid official, but it’s nowhere near the level of other online games.
Right now, we’re in a weird era where PC gaming is a global hackfest and despite the hundreds of thousands of bans by some companies, it’s still not improving. So, comparatively, DayZ is actually doing quite well and I’m hoping to see further improvements in this area in future. Compare the state of DayZ today with only 3 years ago - how much has DayZ improved? In my view - it's night and day. But let me know what you think in the comments! =]

my server official btw just got hacked. two months of gathering in unknown base went to shit, because some guy standing 1 km away headshots all of server and steals loot, destroys buildings. fuck that guy.

That was 2 months worth of work. I don't think i've ever been killed by them before but after a long trip for looting i come back to a house that looks absolutely fine yet all my crates are gone.
They despawn in 45 days, there's no way in hell 20 crates just placed themselves outside of a LOCKED house then dissapeared after 3 days.

Update for the past 10 days. My clan has set up 6 different bases out in 6 different areas on the map. This includes a base buried on top of 2 wolf spawns and also a base buried in a greenhouse and a base hidden in Skyrim mountain and the 2 islands. We have been robbed 6 times…and also we just noticed there are no more cars or trucks or humvees on the map. We have a decently big clan and we checked every car spawn in tier 1 and 2 zones. Almost done checking tier 3 and 4 car spawns. Another thing we have noticed is…everyone has left the server in the past few months…when this hacking shit first started to happen. As of now…my clan seems to take up the majority of an official server although that was never the case before. It used to be full server and now it’s always at least 1/2 empty and sometimes only 3-4 people left on the server. All the other known bases (that don’t belong to my clan) have also all been robbed.
Aka I think a hacker has teleported around and fucked up all the bases and cars on an official server…and essentially 80% of the server left in the past few months. Oh also not to mention how we occasionally got spawn sniped. Again…with the randomized spawns all over the map…dude would know where dude was gonna spawn…each time. Then he managed to run 100KM in 5 seconds and pick a perfect spot and take out the fresh spawn on the other side of the map…before he got bored and B-lined back to stealing cars and destroying bases I guess…
Some of these bases had nothing in them…there would have been no benefit to blowing them up…except if he is a hacker and has unlimited explosives for every single base on the official server. If it takes 6 grenades to take down 1 base fence and walls…dude used 36 grenades just on my clan’s stashes in the last 10 days. Not to mention all the other clans we know about too…what’s the chances of someone new joining an official server and immediately finding 100+ grenades…every single base on the map…and spawn killing people all over the map?
After 700+hours I have uninstalled Day Z, a game I love, the devs focus and update the game so much but the cheating is never focused on and its getting worse.
I first played DayZ on PC. Had that problem. Couple years later got a series x. Play it on console now. Not one cheater haha. Now. Youve really only got one good map. (Chernarus) and mods are very limited. But it runs good and I don’t randomly die from a IJ at 800m.
(Edit) I was playing a server where a guy did get banned for cheating. He was on Cronus. Which is a problem on all platforms. But it’s much more rare on console.
Not saying switch to console haha. Just saying due to the way they work. They can’t be hacked the same way.

every server has some cheaters even on community... trying to downplay the issue is a net negative for dayz.
Not every cheater is using aimbot or admin tools. The good cheaters are very hard to catch on dayz.
the funny thing about all of this, is that if you've been a Gamer a really long time, you begin to see the patterns that pretty much all cheaters in all games adhere to. I started online gaming around 1996. These guys always use the same methodology, regardless of game and that makes it easy to spot them, in the long run. War Thunder is full of them.

Good video, the one thing that you overlooked is that a hacker, especially in official where no admins can react to reports in them, can have a massive impact on many many people. So 1 person can fuck over dozens, potentially hundreds of players, making their impact massive.
This is the truth. They ruin the entire server and obviously no one wants to play on a server with even 1 single cheater.

Yup. Official console dayz I’m done for. You just get swarmed by a group and get thumpered through windows and gassed. Don’t stand a chance the hackers ruin this shit. They use the combat log method. Log out close app log back in. Also there is a white wall method that is still out there involving a plate Carrier.
@@AngryOlive_ The problem is that they hop around from server to server. I play on ONE official server that usually has around 10-20 people on it MAX. So when I randomly see 30+, I'm immediately suspicious. And that's when this always happens.
The bases I build are so well-fortified and so cleverly hidden that there's no way some random players would come across it and destroy the entire thing in the span of 30 minutes since I've been logged out. Impossible. They know where the bases are, what's in them, if anyone is inside or near. It's not a coincidence, it happens the same way to me every time.
Then the cheaters steal the loot, log off, and do it to another server. I don't know what fun they find in doing this, but I genuinely wish ill upon them in their real lives.

On official servers, the issue is much worst than the proclaimed 0.2% of hackers.
The issue is that, saying there is only 0.2% hackers based on banned players is an over-optimistic estimate, especially for DayZ.
Most hackers are not banned by BattleEye anti-cheat, it is not known to be a great anti-cheat.
I suspect the numbers to be much higher if we're counting closet cheaters that don't use blatant cheats or toggle it from time to time.
The thing is, with DayZ, it's not like CSGO where you have hackers using it most of the game, there is no "game" in DayZ.
One could imagine that if a hacker uses hacks to get loot fast (see loot locations or player locations to get kills/loot) then turn the hacks off because the hacker has the loot he wanted, then it makes it extremely hard (even for admins) to spot this, hence I think it is much harder to catch cheaters on DayZ than other online games.
Therefore I don't think it's fair to make a statement about DayZ hackers situation based on such overly-optimistic estimate.

It employs a multi-faceted approach to cheat detection, including signature scanning, anomaly detection, and behavioural analysis. It also conducts ban waves, making it challenging for cheaters to pinpoint what specific actions led to their ban.
The effectiveness of BattleEye isn't game-specific; its core algorithms and detection methods are consistent across all games it protects. Therefore, if BattleEye is successful in mitigating cheating in other various and similar types of titles, it's reasonable to assume it performs similarly in DayZ. To assume an exception would require a lot of proof given the information we already have.
This is because the most popular and relied-on hacks mostly use similar approaches to achieving their goal, and it's entirely possible to have a single hack work across multiple games. Plus, its continuous scans mean 10 seconds - 10 minutes - 10 hours - is all the same with regards to its detection capabilities. Anything outside of this scope has secondary filters, one of my favourites being the behavioural ones. (Honestly, this area is so interesting. I think the Chess.com anti-cheating technology is a perfect example of how effective behavioural analysis is, but on a much more complex level.)
But when we consider the number of bans in relation to the game's player base, plus everything else, the 0.2% figure offers a fairly accurate snapshot of the state of cheating in DayZ. That is not to say an exact outline.
While I agree that no anti-cheat system is foolproof and "closet cheaters" may go undetected, the data we have still arguably provides a valuable baseline for understanding the scope of the issue.

There aren't that many hackers and the game isn't dying, it's growing. Just had its highest numbers ever which continue to increase. It's a top 20 Steam game most months
I had one moment where in official server dude was shooting at me from another side of town with zero line of sight. I heard bullet cracks and impacts all around when running from building to building and as soon as I made line of sight with him from around 400 meters I got instantly killed like he knew where I was at all times.
He was probably using a lag-switch. You know how sometimes in the big towns it takes awhile to render everything and sometimes even has to re-render everything and it all becomes see through?…..Yeah. He’s making that happen on purpose so he can see you at all times and just kept shooting at you not being able to see the walls. Until he got lucky and there wasn’t anything in the way.
I used to run with a team that would have one guy constantly closing and relaunching his game during base raids due to you getting the same effect on the first load-in after launching the game. Then he’d relay the locations of the defenders to the rest of the team.
This actually happens way more than you’d think. And the devs just won’t ever address it.

I think another issue is that when you die from a hacker in Dayz it’s so devastating. A pose to a battle royal type game when you get hacked on you’re back in the game in seconds. In Dayz going from full kit to an apple on the coast is such a blow. So I think when it happens it heightens the situation more. I’ve been playing official servers again and it’s not bad

If I log into certain Official servers with any decent gear I get killed by a hacker within 5-10 minutes, but if I load in as a freshly im safe until I find a couple good guns - then I get sniped through several buildings lmao

The biggest problem with Admins is that they have power. Power corrupts. I've been an admin on many servers and have always come to disagree with other Admins on how they are abusing their power and not following the rules they laid out. This often gets me removed from Admin status and kicked from Discord without so much as a thank you for your service. I also have over 8000 hours in the game and use to love to play PVP servers. I had to give up on PVP because of all the cheaters. Starting watching Anarchy HD and saw that I was correct in my views that there are cheaters everywhere. This cheating ruins the game for all who work hard to survive and follow sound tactics only to be one shot in the head from an IJ-70 from 400m away. Most times when I get killed I can hear the gun shot and impact but have experienced a lot of sudden black screens and no sound at all. Just "You are dead". and with no idea how it happened. I still enjoy playing the game but don't spend the time on it like I use to. Many Private servers use way to many mods that either conflict with the server gameplay and overlap loot. This also creates a lot of useless items that make it harder to find most used items like repair kits. But even the Vanilla game has this problem. I don't know how many times I've joined a Dedicates server only to find Smoke grenades for the newly added grenade launcher in almost every barrack I search.

Yeah it seems like there's just a bunch of cheaters on community servers too. Always just out of no where someone will walk up to you no matter how much you sneak and play slow. You'll never see them but they'll always see you literally no matter what.

Hackers love a few hours before updates . My friends first few gunfights inside LA Server 8901 was getting headshot through a shed with the door closed (1 bullet, didn’t miss a single shot blindly shooting through walls…) then proceeded to spawn kill him with the same sniper…no matter where he spawned or which building he runs inside.
The entire official server besides the hacker also died and logged out - not just my friend whom was streaming at the time.
Sadly…I dont think Valve would ever do anything about AntiCheat until RIOT Games releases a DayZ copy with RIOTs’ anti cheat that WORKS!!!
PS- the reason why I feel comfortable telling you which server it is on…is because we moved servers. In fact- 3 months ago this server had a queue to get into it. Today there is less than 5 people on that server at any given time.
There are an abundance of hackers on official. A moment I’ve personally had was running down a road to meet up with a friend, out of no where grenades started falling from the sky. I quickly sprinted around and at least 6 grenades were dropped on top of me until I was blown up. Before this I noticed the hacker flying above me. This was only one of many examples I’ve had in dayz. I’d say at least 15% of my deaths were from hackers. My dead body having all its loot stripped in an instant with no player around other than a friend who witnessed it, full auto’d with a crossbow, shot through multiple layers of concrete with no other entry points, grenades dropped from the sky. This game is infested with hackers and devs need to implement a better anti cheat.

Private servers are fine. Officials are pretty bad, at least in my experience. Almost every official I'm on, can't make it through a weekend without getting killed by a hacker. And this isn't the 'no way he could have made that shot' type of "hacking". This is pretty obvious wall-hacking and/or aimbot, usually when I'm in a group with three other people who all die to the same guy in the smae way. I'll give people that you can make an 'impossible' shot once or twice, but four times in a row without a miss pretty much defies the odds.
It's a rule to play dayz with dayz launcher on community servers if you're on pc. Official is plagued with cheats that are undetected by battlelog, Aimbot, ESP/Wallhack, Radar Hack and other scummy sht is rampant on official servers, avoid them like the plague that they are.
This is why I play official servers on console and modded on PC. No hacks on console.

Had a killer base on official with 2 buddies. We were inside our base - completely covered and cooking. All of a sudden we hear shots from a few towns over. And then all 3 of us die at the same time instantly. Turns out dude had what basically was just a "kill player" command - and he shoots the random shots too sort of hide himself. We were furious.
Switched too community and nothing but bliss since

official servers are riddled, played it once and me and my friend got aimbotted from 1km within 10 minutes and i know this because i had the ability to see players like that. play modded, big servers have way less cheaters, but that said it is fucking riddled with them, i mean it. RIDDLED.
The best part is servers like Server name: LEGENDARY GAMING, they allow clans like TC and STINK to cheat all the time with no repercussions because they are major contributors LMAO. And then when you call them out you get banned for cheating so they say!!!
Damn, I wish I had your experience. Once every year or two, I get into the mood to play DayZ, I no life it and make an epic base in a week, then it gets taken over by hackers in an instant, like through 7 layers in the snap of a finger. Proof of Wallhacks, or even flash deaths where there's no gunshot or anything. Tried both public and private servers. I'm playing on a manhunt server and I hope the discord admins care to ban this team
I just started this month and our first successful run, my friend encountered someone invisible (he sent a screenshot) standing 2 feet in front of him, fully kitted. They didn't harm us, even provided a car package, and warned of another hacker group that was "bad" in Servograd.
The biggest problem with cheating is that we don't know if the other guy is cheating or not unless it is obvious cheating, so the real number is unknown. It is very annoying to think every time you die if the guy is cheating or not. If all games had some complex replay system for us to check if we got killed by cheaters or not, online games would be better.
I play on console but I get how frusterating it can be, and I can always appreciate someone who can clearly explain the issue

I had never used or seen aimbot on video before so I didnt really know how it functioned but a guy i knew was talking about how this player from another clan had recorded his gameplay and uploaded to youtube and he said that the guy shoots somebody few hundred meters and then just turns and snaps onto this guy that was like 900 meters behind him right after he shot him. I kept that in mind and was just running to NWAF and here comes a guy running full speed at an angle heading away from me (i was well out of his field of view per angle he was running) and he just all of a sudden stops and turns and is facing right at me moving side/side like he's expecting me to shoot and he doesn't even look through his scope and im 350 yds away laying down at base of a bush then he runs back the way he came a little then i get up and run to put a wide row of bushes between me and him and I get hit twice on full speed run with thick bushes between me and him with a bolt action kar98k. The way the guy was running full speed and suddenly just knows im 135 degrees from the center of his view somehow really made me suspect something so i went to youtube to look at a video of aimbot and i see there's a lot more than aimbot out there and the software also highlights any/all players within a certain radius of you. Maybe this guy has psychic powers but I'd be willing to say its more like something is alterting him to players near him. There was no way he saw me the angle he was running and just suddenly snaps onto me..... bullshit.
As an ordinary player of 5000 hours. I have encountered dozens of hackers. Teleporters, ppl who cannot die when magdumped on, hacker blowing up the whole of Chernarus literally, player hiding in a bugged area unable to be seen and shoots me, ESP hacker immediately turning around and starts shooting me in a hidden area, etc.

There are so many comments made to me from people with crappy admin experiences, it's unreal. I would make a video outing them, but I can never 100% verify so I wouldn't want to damage the reputation of a good server accidentally. Because lots of times it's the player's fault.
I can see how a pc player can get angry at hackers even tho they weren't killed by hackers. I see myself just die at random on concole, no sound or warning, just a blood splatter and my character falling to the floor.
Snipers with silencers on them mate....happened to me many times. Not anymore though, I avoid the spots they roost on in the servers I play.
on one hand you are right with the fact that people often think of hacker when they die but on the other hand DayZ especialy official servers have big issue with hackers, i love to play vanila but to go on official is always risky, i avoid "hot spots" on map becouse of hackers i cant tell you how many times i just died with my friends ( usualy trio) all at the same time inside building like garage or even if we were further apart, good video tho, but mabye not every one is just crying that there are too many hackers, mabye we need to show devs that this problem, i would say main issue of DayZ is still there and needs to be solved
Feels like Bohemia is comfortable with the mentality that the majority of the playerbase is playing on community servers instead of official servers, where the moderators actually track down hackers through discord servers reports of suspicious deaths and other behaviours. In official servers we don't even have a report button yet (game's 10 years old btw)
unfortunately in vanilla servers. Hackers were such a problem I quit playing.
Cheaters tends to lean to most popular servers. I've got killed by cheaters on Aftermath, Spaggies and KarmaKrew. I even reported latter but they "didn't find anything suspicious", just like the site sellimg laghack proposed.
Those servers are no-go for me now, still have other servers which I didn't experienced anything suspicious for the whole time I've played.
Anyway, due to nature of the game, cheaters are less often seen, but much more frustrating than those of EFT which is completely overwhelmed by them.
Here's the thing, chief... all it takes is a group of 5 hackers/cheaters/dupers/whatever to enter a server, know where every base is, blow them all to hell, take all the crap, and then jump off. I've put a few hundred hours into this game and I'm a lone wolf, hoarding, base-building wizard. I know how much time and effort it takes to have enough ammo/explosives to launch one base raid. But when I log off for half an hour and come back and my base (with walls 2-3 layers thick, no visibility from outside the building) is completely gone... I know that someone didn't legitimately do that.
Last time it happened was today. Was literally logged off for half an hour and I log back in and my base is GONE and two guys are driving away in my truck and my car (that weren't drivable at the time). I caught up to one of them and he didn't even attempt to fight. He wasn't even armed. He put up his hands like he was blocking and as soon as I killed him, my character died. I wasn't shot, his teammate was long gone in the faster car. I don't know how this guy did it, but as soon as I killed him my character died also. I was just sitting there like, "Huh, what?" So what basically happened was in the span of 30 minutes, two guys managed to blow through 3 layers of walls, significantly repair 2 vehicles without the equipment there necessary to do it, dismantle my entire base and load it all up (there were probably 15 walls in the base), and take off as soon as my character was logging back in.
It's extremely frustrating to put in so much time and effort into surviving and looting only to have it all taken away by some pimple-faced 16 year old cheaters who think it's all really funny.
I've seen a Facebook group with 10k followers, specifically for DayZ duping and exploits. If duping, glitching through walls, and xray exploits are considered "hacking" then there is most definitely a problem. Most people don't know about groups like these, and those that do usually wouldn't join these groups. It only takes one member of a several dozen strong clan to teach the ways of a scummy exploiter. Hacking is a huge problem in DayZ, but those that do it don't talk about it. Only large clans see the fallout from hackers because only large bases are targeted by exploiting server hoppers. It's a sad truth and I'm hopeful that the devs are more aware of the problem than the casual DayZ player.
Community servers can be cancerous af. I got banned for 'cheating' when in reality an admin was mad I raided their friend's base. Now I am banned from 90% of community servers (the ones using CFtools anyway). I left shittily administrated servers, went to official NY server and never looked back. Haven't encountered a cheater in over 200 hours.
I play on a tiny server. We were always unlucky fighting one duo till admin banned them for ESP.
There is a easy way to tell if you have been killed by a hacker, if you can’t hear a shot, especially on the coast its a hacker, further inland it could be a supressor. I played about 1.4K hours half of them on officials. Right now officials can’t be played bc of the amount of hackers… you can’t even report sus death… I always suggest to switch on mod server!

A lot of the time you won't hear a shot. DayZ has a realistic system so sound travels a lot slower than the bullet. Bullets travel 3x the speed of sound sometimes. You're out cold before the sound wave hits. Especially when you're on the coast because you have no armour, you're really squishy so most bullets are fatal. This is what I mean about how systems aren't explained in DayZ to players so it's assumed cheating.

Saw a video of a guy defending his base from freshies; just posting a dayz video when I noticed every time he hit the aim button it either shot to the left of his screen or straight onto one of the freshies heads. Bro was aimbotting with a grenade launcher against people without a weapon
Loved the video as usual! I absolutely agree with almost everything in this video. The one point I even slightly diverted in agreement was when you spoke about playing on servers with admins that are active on the server. In my opinion it’s absolutely imperative that the admins are active on the server they admin. You did address this by saying you want to find servers with “good” admins but it was your secondary point and should have been the primary points for a video like this. Most servers that have good admins are also active admins and don’t always have the capability of having an alt and shouldn’t either because that’s almost considered cheating in many circles as well. (New video idea? You’re welcome). I admin on our server and I am active. I often change the ingame name so people don’t bother me so much while I’m trying to enjoy myself. Our admins maybe be what you consider “good” but if people didn’t play merely because admins played on the server well that just doesn’t make sense to me.
I want to ask you something as admin you are, can you see where is everyone and where are the stashes and bases? Do you need 2 computers to play your own server?
@@manparido when you log in you can toggle admin tools on. You have to hit buttons to bring up the admin menu and select what you want to do. As an admin when I do play on the server, I don’t raid or seek stashes. You don’t need a second computer no. And having a second account is really inconvenient and isn’t really any different than logging in or out of the admin tools imo. So admins are faced with two choices. Be honest and good admins that want to help their community grow and make a safe and fun place to play or not play their server at all and not really know what’s going on in there other than when there is a problem. I believe in the latter and that you need to have boots on the ground to really k ow your server.

Built a base in one of those 5 story apartment buildings somehow a hacker flew in from an apartment building across from me because when I got on today he passed by 2 of my gates and blew out the top 1. Not sure how he got the loot out without going through my bottom 2 gates but who knows I’m not some greasy hacker.
They need to fix the stacking of gardens. My only complaint and it hasn't happened to me, yet. I want to stack everything else just not garden's. Really silly too like seriously.
Community, first person, no crosshairs, longer nights. Active but unobtrusive admin. These things keep hackers out and serious players in . Admins can make small tweaks to bring in the population they want without being a clingy admin twat . All about the Nuance .

back then the entire server would get teleported to the woods while the hackers snapped their legs with scrips, you'd be forced to dance in place and often mamba off a building, every hacker knew how to spawn in weapons crates.

I got a work around by just sticking to coastal towns and being a lunatic. When I get the big guns I'm an instant target.
I robbed a clan on a vanilla server, found their high end tents, robbed everything, even the tents. How on earth did they find my hideout (base), that was far, faaaaaaar away from where the robbery took place? They actually raided my base AND the place where I was hiding my car, all of that in a matter of hours... And both sites were *very* far from one another. It doesn't make sense to me unless there's cheating...
I think its fair to get a beating because you've robbed a group and they gang up on you, but how on earth did they find both location so quickly? Is there a hack where they can track Items? Anyway...

I spent a whole month grinding and grinding to find out the game is unplayable I decided to cheat and unbelievable. The amount of cheaters I cought myself I will admin to was a dick but I also helped people who lost there car by cheaters. I will admit at times a was a dick coz I was mad I only got banned after 2 weeks when I started shooting people across the map after long enough Battleeye doesn’t do anything

Might want to cover Cronus users. Having ran with console wrecking crews running these devices on top of being skilled, it's a casual players worst nightmare. And yes, some of these users are admins or mods.

The thing about DayZ is that its so hard to tell if someone is just really good or cheating or if you just have bad luck. did you get sniped from 2000m by a hacker or did there just happen to be a fully geared guy hiding in the bush you just ran through, true story. I was certain a hacker killed me but I re watched the footage and saw him sticking out of a bush i ran by. I always recommend recording gameplay in DayZ it can save you some sleepless nights lol I've also been on the flip side, I had a full snow camo ghille on namalsk and was camoflauged with a surpressed KA. I was head shoting guys from 150-200 yards. I got 4 kills and the admin started up on me. showed him the footage he laughed and told them they just sucked but he had to review because like 8 people reported me hahaha. however in vanilla there is about a %30 chance you will die to a hacker. modded and regulated servers about 5%-10% chance of cheaters
Dude, when a Player just spawns in next to me in some random piece of real estate and smokes me, yeah, he is most likely cheating. Three times this happened this week. I tend to be on low pop servers (6 ppl or less) and the odds of them being where I am at are pretty dismal. It's ruining the game. I literally do better on the busy servers, but I don't farm there. I do the PVP aspects, of the game there. I only play the Official servers, as a rule. So, Admin abuse is not the issue. It is the Cheaters that farm by tracking the other Players.
Kill cams could reassure a lot of people just saying.
COD players with zero situational awareness and zero patience complaining about getting killed by 'cheaters' in DayZ is a delicious irony and I'm here for it.
BUT... The DayZ devs (and a good number of players) are either ignorant or in denial about cheaters. Cheaters are in every FPS game on the Internet. Wallhacks (ESP) are the most insidious cheats because they're not obvious to the victim, difficult for admins to prove, and the cheater only needs to toggle them for a single second at the right moments to get an overwhelming advantage during combat. DayZ is the perfect game for these kind of cheats.
Naive players saying things like, "I've only run into a few hackers in my 3000 hours in DayZ," simply cant recognize modern cheating even when they're dying to it. Their stories are always about rage hackers head-shoting them behind cover from 800m away but the kids using those kind of aimhacks are easily spotted and quickly banned. It's the quiet ESP cheaters who hide their cheating that have so many of you fooled.
Community servers and community anti-cheat tools are our only hope. And yes, you should be suspicious of some admins and even a few bad-egg server owners but for every whinge about admin abuse there are hundreds or even thousands of 'soft' cheaters who try to hide their ESP usage but always seem to know which corner you're about to come around. And your only hope against them is to find a trustworthy community server with admins who hate cheating as much as you do.

i've started to check server discords before joining servers now, usually they have a showcase section where players can upload videos of themselves playing. now if i see players left and right leaning and no scoping from 100metres out i tend to think cheater and not bother with the server
DayZ is overrun with cheaters, and it has been pretty much since it's launch. It's always had a huge cheater problem and it still has it today.
Play good community server with active admins and its good experience. I have been playing many PvP servers and had no major problems. There is cheaters and they ban like 0-10 a day, but with community shared ban lists the cheaters are out pretty fast.
Dayz is full of hackers, and a game like dayz doesnt need many hackers to ruin the game, since a hacker can easilly find you and your base, and that is a key point on Dayz. The logic of "there is no hackers cuz there is few bans" is completly messed up, it is like there is no crime cuz criminals are not being arested, hackers are there running freely messing up everything

I can tell you for a fact that if you play on a high population official (PC) server like NY 6032, NY6053, Multiplay 4146 etc., you will encounter a cheater. Lower populated servers, maybe you won't but obviously your experience will always vary in DayZ which is what makes it such a fun game to begin with. But saying cheaters are not a big problem just because you don't experience them as often as other people does nothing. Like I mentioned, your experience will vary, and that depends on how you choose to play. The worst thing about cheaters in DayZ isn't the actual cheats, it's the fact that Bohemia continues to do little to nothing about it while we have people like you saying cheaters aren't common because you play on console and community servers. Bohemia is silently using the community for their own gain while official servers get swept under the rug.
He says many times almost all his content is recorded on official pc because recording on console is a pain for quality. Also, bohemia have done countless things to try and make this better, have you read their last patches? have you seen the notes from battleeye on their spotlights and monthly updates? I play on NYs all the time and although ive encountered hackers occasionally in the past, it's a relief considering every other online game out there is actually a hackfest. PC is the issue, online PC is just awful and unplayable with most games, comparatively dayz is doing a much better job than a lot of AAA devs. 5 years ago this game was unplayable, but with all the patches, bans and adjustments the games had, it's one of the most playable.

As for the rest, there are literally patch notes that show how wrong you are. It has nothing to do with fanboying, that's a weird response tbh. I mean, the game is cool but it's just silly when someone has to make up lies about a game to discredit it. If you have to lie about it, it's probably not that bad of a game. DayZ is a cheater's heaven by design. There's no "matches" or "lobbies", where cheaters are merely a temporary nuisance, obvious to everyone, and easily reportable. One single cheater can ruin the whole game for up to 59 other people simultaneously, ALL DAY LONG. Imagine if World of Warcraft had aimbotters who 1-shot you from the other side of the world? If would be like that episode of South Park where one loser is griefing the whole WoW server. But that's the reality in DayZ.
By design? What evidence do you have for that assertion? I've been playing DayZ since the Alpha days. No, it's not a cheaters heaven. Part of the issue is that DayZ has a small development team. They don't have hundreds of people working on their game like AAA games such as Call of Duty have.
I have played Call of Duty and Battlefield for years. Every time they drop a patch, they fix some bugs and create new ones. Even to this day, this still happens on AAA games.
I always just die out of nowhere impossibly (not to a bullet, like if I'm inside a building behind something and impossible to see) and come back to looted corpse still tho. Pretty sure they teleport bullets to your head then use esp to locate the body.
After a three years break i played on an official server. Within 12 hours of gametime i saw two, 100% confirmed hackers (hacking infront of everyone - because they didn´t give a f***. On private servers it only seems to be better, because the obvious hackers (unlike on official) will eventually get banned. Still everyone with more than ten braincells can use hacks in a way, that you will never be able to prove it without a doubt. Considering there are players ingame running 200 meters in 2 seconds, the anticheat is obviously a joke and this game dead for me.

How do admins on a private mod server know when a player is using aimbot or something similar?
They watch you. 5 headshots with no fail in a row over 900 meters with a IJ70 pistol are highly suspicious.

I spent weeks on an Official DAYZ server and had everything taken by a group of hackers it makes me so mad. Nobody should Buy DayZ because sure weeks no hackers but eventually one WILL RUIN it. Litterly made a base right next to me and took all my shit. He spawned in everything in a hour and my shit was gone and locked up then he sits in there shooting for a hour.. I put over a 300 hours on that server and now 1 hacker and its all gone LIVONIA 5012 RIP

Playing on ps5 and even on officials there are so many cheaters.. People try to say you can't cheat on console in DayZ.. Just look up Save Wizard, the creators of that have shown they CAN hack in online games, they just don't allow the general public sale of those hacks because if they did, they'd have BIG CCs after them as well as law enforcement.
People download PC hacks to USB sticks and either plug them into their ps4 or a special controller that has USB options..
Almost every person I come across in Officials is a hacker, either clipping through walls, aimbot headshots, speed hacking, etc.. it's stupid.
I'm about 130 hours in mostly on official servers and had two deaths that were suspicious but also don't know the game well enough to say for sure.

Best server for the non-modded vanilla experience? Usually the official ones, right? Died last week on one of those due to an obvious cheater. But I still don't want to go on any community servers. Almost all of them have at least one or more mods.
Every server I’ve played on for any extended time I’ve been raided by dupers. Apart from duping I’ve never ran into hacking. Still love the game
I thought duping was fixed??? If a person can dupe whatever they want why would they waste time raiding?

I enjoy it, but I feel like if there’s so many hackers capable of actively hacking and aren’t banned, it isn’t far to say that the anti cheat software itself is just at fault.
I’m sure that too some level it is inflated from stories and other points brought up here, but I still believe the percentage of players using hacks to be far greater then trying to be portrayed here. Though it was a nice video, just hope that one day we get a more solid way to get rid of cheaters.

So my admin hates me! He goes daily into my locked base, steals guns, steals crates, steals whatever he wants. Last time he deleted a complete wall with a red number lock and barb wire. One side of my base was missing when I returned. 3 month ago I was lying on the ground in my locked base in the woods and got a headshot from nowhere through the walls. So I experience hacker admins or whatever nearly every day in January 2024. Let me tell you, I hate you dudes!
Dont play on community every admin is a no life loser that's why they're bosses in a no life video game
Anti cheat programs in games detect only the most basic cheats. And knowing situation in online gaming in general, there is definitely plenty of undetected cheaters in this one to :D And ppl who deny it are part of the problem. Well soon enough cheating will be new normal..
That is why I play on xbox where cheaters don't have aimbot x-ray etc. Just bug exploits .

Not so much hacking as it is cheating. White walling, duping, glitches through structures, angle glitches, zen users, are the main issues
Dayz sucks! Official servers are overrun with hackers or cheaters. It’s purely a waste of time to play because a hacker can easily steal all your stuff from your base that has taken a lot of time to obtain.

I come back and I'm raided... I just don't get how anyone could have known my position without esp. without esp it was the Luckies shot ever. Through a barn, through my tent....

Console is pretty free of cheaters but pc modded servers have alot of cheaters. Esp is rapid
every bigger server has % of cheaters. Some are blatant, some are smart. Groups having players with radars/esp are pretty common. Aimbots, yeah easy to catch, but not esp/radar. Usually bigger groups have 1 or few players with esp/radar in their team who are working like scouts and giving info. True is, online competetive gaming is dead. Judging from community servers it is like ~5% at least. Should do simillar experiment like one guy did with tarkov, will be surprised.
