  • This time we introduce some lovely fighting to the basics series. Starting with the wonderful world of Reactive fighting... it's scary to go alone. Bring a friend.

    "I'll honor his sacrifice."
    Best line I've ever heard in a Go video 😂😂

    At 16:30. Nice distinction between proactive and reactive fighting styles.
    "If you're a proactive fighter you have to make a lot of decisions. This is worth fighting for. This is not worth fighting for. I want to harass this. I want to harass that. I'm going to go after this weak point. I'm going to go after that weak point."
    At 16:51.
    "If you're a reactive fighter you just kind of keep taking the large points. And then you wait. But, you show me where the weak points are. You show me where you're weak. I'm not going to try to make you weak. You show me where you're weak. And when you show me where you're weak, then I'm going to be vicious. And I'm going to cut you. I'm going to get shape. And I'm just going to wait until something dies."
    17:17.

    Great idea to do basic fighting. It really fills a spot that feels a little bit missing in your other more passive videos. A lot of times I follow your basics and my opponent forces me to capture. Knowing shape points in capturing groups, and what to fight over is really nice.

    Fighting is not my strong suit, so I am really excited to see that you are starting to address it in your awesome Basics series. I especially like that you are not going immediately into proactive. I need that transitional approach. Good job!

    Once again proving that in Go, you need only be able to count to two. Great video!

      what does that mean (count to two)?

      Counting your opponent's weak groups. With two or more weak groups on the board it is easy to attack for profit.

    nice video, but what was the point of M4 ?

    • @dragonxiiigaming2356
      @dragonxiiigaming2356 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe M4 allows white to play M1 and live in sente. I could be wrong, but I believe that's the idea.

      Not much point since I didn't use it in the game. Just created a cutting stone i could maybe use later.

    seriously, 9k? how low can you go?

    • @dwyrin

      In the basics series I play everyone from ddks to dans to show that the principles work everywhere, why and how.

    • @Stdvwr
      @Stdvwr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could win a ddk while passing every 20th move. doesn't mean it's a good strategy

      As i said, I am playing the same way against every rank from 15kyu to 3dan. The 'strategy' seems pretty solid... Give it a try, I think you'll be surprised.
