  • The Fall Swap Meet in Conroe Texas 2023 had a great turnout of vendors selling both parts and projects. There was a little of everything out there. This time I decided to finally do something I had thought about doing a good while back. And that was to split the video into two, one for the parts and the other for the projects vehicles. I got to give a shout out to ‪@THROTTLEPOWER‬ TH-cam channel as he has been doing it this way with goos success. I figure it couldn't hurt to finally try it myself. Anyhow, there was a wide variety of classics for sale as there usually is and I tried to get as many as I could with the time I had. The Conroe Swap Meet takes place twice a year, once in February and then in October.

I had a blue Impala just like that white one. Was a great driving car comfortable and handled great. I remember it was pretty good in that NW Pennsylvania snow.

Benny the split between the cars and the rest of the meet is a win 🏆.

0:02 My aunt had a '55 identical to this except dark/navy blue. Traded when I was 9yo, but b4 I'd try to sit in the middle & she'd let me shift it from 2nd-to-3rd - my que to shift was "OK...now". Now my older brother, if he could get in the middle would get to do the more complicated 1st-to-2nd pattern.

Good thing you weren't in Northwest Ohio Benny because we had some snow that fell last night for Halloween especially here in Toledo. Not a lot but just some to coat the grass and roof tops.

That 55 Chevy is a NICE price, even though its a 4 door that's a prime everyday driver/weekend fun car, the body is solid, just sand it down and shoot a cheap paint job, the interior is good enough shape, pull that cover off the front seat and throw a green Mexican Blanket over it or find a seat cheap set of buckets off of facebook marketplace for a couple hundred bucks and throw them in it, as far as the engine you could either rebuilt the strait six or go find a cheap 305 out of 70's Nova, Monte Carlo or Malibu and throw it in there. The same with that school bus yellow Comet, with a little work and a few parts and a lil bit of Elbow grease that car's ready to go, the same with that 56 Ford, it's already primered so just throw a cheap paint job on it and drive the wheels off it. alot of the cars and trucks are projects but those 3 are relatively cheap and ready to go with just a little bit of work, Those types of classic car builds are REALLY popular now since the Dems have crashed the economy, again. People no longer have the money to go throw down 60k on a new car just they are finding classics that cheap and easy to get going to drive and have fun on the weekends in.

The 1955 Chevrolet was serviced at a Texaco station as I spot "Marfak Lubrication" on one of the stickers in the door jamb. That was a Texaco offering. Connell Chevrolet still exists at 2828 Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa, California. Those wheels look hideous on that Jeep pickup. I think the engine and/or valve covers were changed on that 1986 Cutlass as I believe they should be black in that year for a 307 engine. That also looks like the older alternator bracket set up.
1987 GMC V10 with the VIN for the win: 1GT for US made GMC truck, E for 6,001 to 7,000 # GVWR with hydraulic brakes, V for 4WD conventional chassis, 1 for 1/2 ton rated, 4 for two door cab, K for 5.7L (350 CID) V8 with TBI, 3 is a check digit, H for the 1987 model year, S for St. Louis, MO assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The St. Louis plant closed in 1986 so this is likely an early 1987 model truck. The vehicle at 19:30 looks like a more solid version of the "Silent Malibu" that NeshPro bought from Bernardston Auto Wrecking and was featured on Mr. Magnante's channel, although his is not a 300.
30K for a 1978 Ford that's in pieces and incomplete? Someone is smoking a Dutchie.

So you did make it! I like this format too, looking forward to the swap meet video as well.
When were you there? We had problems getting out of traffic in Houston (I couldn't load up Thursday and that didn't help, rained all day). So it was Friday evening before we got there. And most of the "customers" kept their $$ in their wallets... definitely not my best show in this venue. But I found a couple of pieces for my collection, and saw some old friends. So it was not a total loss....

I was there Saturday. Definitely more vendors than usual but like usual I hardly ever seem.to find anything I need or really want. I almost bought a Hollander interchange book for $35 but decided I Mitchell interchange book is good enough. I think i will try Friday instead next time. Maybe the good deals are gone by Sat 😄

@@ClassicRideSociety I was told there was a lot of foot traffic on Friday, but pretty much every vendor I talked to, said that business was way down. Personally I did less than half of what I did in February, and way down from last October meet as well. February seems to be the more consistent show here though.
