having the track wheels in the front is a miss conception for driving forward. it makes it harder to turn because with the track wheels in the front it tightens the top tracks but loosens the surface tracks ...

Agreed, look at almost every other tracked vehicle from a Chieftain tank to a Bobcat mini-excavator. The driving sprocket is in the rear pulling on the bottom of the track (when going forward) with an idler wheel at the front.
