During the video I showed you how to change the name of an object or path, using the objects properties panel, but what I didn't mention was that you can also just double click on the object's label to make a change - much simpler.

Came here because I wondered what the "T" stands for. Very thoroughly explained. Thank you!

You're welcome. I'll have to make an updated video for the new dialog box at some point.

wow, Thanks for this video, inkscap just keeps getting more amazing everyday, and most of this stuff has been there all along
do you do anything with Scribus?

Thanks for the comments, Scribus is one of the software packages I'm intending to look at in the near future, it's a great option for all your desktop publishing needs. I've got a few more Inkscape topics I'd like to cover before I move on to other packages, but I will be covering Scribus in the not too distant future.

Thanks for this usefull tutorial. I am following your channel for a while now and find the info you give both pratical and usefull. Thanks for that.
I also have a request for a tutorial. I struggle with copying and then rotating objects. For instance i am trying to rotate 16 objects allong a circle. Maybe this is an subject for another tutorial. Thanks for the tutorials so far..

Hi Marcel, that does sound like a good topic for a video, we could look at a couple of methods.
For now though, if you want to rotate objects around a circle you can do it in steps:
      1. Drag out a circle by holding down ctrl to constrain the proportions
      2. Draw the object you want to duplicate around the circle
      3. In the Snapping menu, enable snapping to boundary boxes (top section) and snapping to boundary box edge mid-points. Then snap the object to the top mid-point of the circle.
      4. In the Snapping menu, enable snapping to midpoints and snapping to rotational centers (bottom section). Double click on your object to bring up the rotation handles and the rotation center. Drag the rotation center till it snaps to the center of the circle.
      5. By holding down crtl when you rotate an object you can rotate it in steps. The default is 15 deg, you want 16 items around your circle so you need to change this to 22.5 deg (360/16)
At the top, click on Edit → Preferences. Then in the Preferences dialog box click on the triangle in front of Behaviour and click on Steps. Change ‘Rotation snap every:’ to 22.5 degrees and close the dialog box.
      6. select your object and press ctrl + d to duplicate it. Click on it again to bring up the rotation handles, hold down ctrl and drag the rotation handle round the circle one step (22.5 deg).
Press ctrl + d to duplicate again and repeat the process until you have all 16 object evenly spaced around your circle.
Hope you can follow my instructions and thanks for the video idea.

Wow, Ty sooo much! Question: My right Dock Panel is so wide, and when I try to make it narrower, it just pops back to being wide. Any advice?

The dialog boxes each have a minimum size, so you can make them bigger but not smaller. You can hide them off to the side though by either:
Clicking on the 3 dots on the side of the box, click the dots again to toggle back
Dragging the 3 dots off to the side
or use F12 to toggle back and forth ( or 'fn' + 'F12 on mine).
      Hope that's some help.

Watching your video…first thank you for sharing your knowledge in inkscape. In the panel under label…was wondering can I name the label the font name that I used. Or is there a better way. I find I do text and come back to it and have forgotten what font I used. For now I have been just typing the font name in my project but that get messy if I have used more that one font.

This video was made in an earlier version of Inkscape, they have now combine the layers and object dialog boxes. If you open the dialig box you can double click on the labels and rename them so you know exactly what everything is.
