Thanks Dave!!! I ran into one of these motors in a bard wall mount last year that was doing some weird stuff. No lit in the unit. Confused the hell out of me, your vid just gave me a lightbulb moment. Keep it up
I swear by the Azure programmable replacement watt motors. Best decision ive made to keep for truckstock. Covers all of the store cases i work on. Might have to look into these model now
Nicely done Dave , thanks for the shout out ... 😎. I been using the US Motor replacement for the X13 less wires to deal with , bit more $$, however those Mars don’t look too complicated, maybe I’ll scoop one of those up . Nicely done .
The Air Conditioning Guy OEM is the best way. This will be a good test of this motor, the US motors 6651TS looks OEM for carrier style units, I’ll try that motor next.
not crazy about the "clear" heat shrink covered boards, I'm guessing they're not sealed at all. I could see that being an issue in real humid/ocean salt areas or in places that have fairly high chemicals counts in the air (within OSHA standards, but some can attack circuitry fast being exposed 24/7)
I have some weird behavior with my mars 10861. Manual says, it should only turn on when it gets 220V AND any speed tap is energized. Mine always turns on as soon as it gets 220V. None of the speed taps are yet connected. Why is that? Is there any hidden setting not mentioned in the manual to override the speed taps? I want to be able to use the constant fan mode by using the orange tap (625 rpm), but this doesn't allow me to do so. Thanks
@marcusmerryman8904 No. I contacted Mars and they told me some of those units fail that way. But mine was out of warranty, sooo, nothing to do with them. I just added a relay only to get it energized on demand.
What would be different between it running in PSC mode versus X13 mode? Curious! And I heard that by next year all residential Furnace and Air Handlers manufactured after July 2019 can no longer use PSC motors by government mandate in both The USA and Canada, is that correct? If so would a Motor like this be used by manufactures so they can customize onsite installation to homeowner's and installer's preference?
Eagle Mechanical Refrigeration/Hvac Durham N.C that’s a bad from SF back in the day called alphabet soup. Acid jazz with hip hop rap. I used to go to the city and watch them in the 90’s. They also played with a San Francisco band MO Fessional‘s. Great stuff. That’s the old theme to streets of San Francisco tv show. How work busy?
Hey Dave: That looks like a nice rescue motor. I've been paying around $250 for the US Motors 1/3 hp. I do quite a few that take a 1/3 hp. Any idea how much the Mars 1/5 - 1/2 hp sets you back?
Nice replacement Dave and great explanation! you'll have to let us all know how that motor holds up. The local Carrier distributor drop those to the GenTeq Evergreen due to some failures. With the programmer for the Evergreen EMs, they seem to be work pretty good matching the CFMs, but extra work. BTW - is that Streets of San Francisco for the first part of the intro? :-)
only thing I'll suggest, is leaving the instruction/guide in the unit somewhere or the next poor sucker that hasn't seen/used them will be confused x13 :)))
I've been steering clear of installing that moducrap but it seems the new mandate will be requiring this type of motor as a minimum now in the equipment. They sure seem less complex than those variables. My equipment guy just told me about these this morning. Said to use OEM for warranty naturally but to keep one of these for out of warranty or at least something to use till you get the warranty part. What's nice is you check power to the motor just like any old direct drive. If ya got power it's not the board.
Nice vid man!! Doesn't look that complicated just getting the hang of it I guess... I'd yank that x13 and do a psc just an extra 2 relays... I speed for heat and one for cool ( I live in the tropics so no heat used here) bit at least i know the combination....
Man... Gone are the days of just plugging in a couple wires, and going. Now you have to unplug this, plug in that, route this, use this adapter here, etc. Seems like wiring up a computer more than a motor. Oh wait... there IS a computer in a motor. Yikes! thats scary.
Gone are the days when there was nothing you could;t get going somehow in the middle of the night. Belt drive, direct drive, 11" fan limit, V800a, Q340a...blower belts if anyone knows what they are...
Very nice work; you just installed the most versatile aftermarket ECM in the world. Thank you for taking the time to post this installation.
MARSdelivers feel free to send me a couple motors and I’ll highlight them on the channel. 👍👍

mitchs6764 thanks for watching Mitch.
Been using these since they came out. They're great. Used to keep one on the truck when I did more high temp work.

Felipe Tafolla I was looking for the US motors, but RSD only has the mars motor in stock.
Johnstone carries the US motor
Very good information. I usually go oem out of fear. But you made it look so simple! Right on! 😎👍

Great Job
First time installing this motor
I love this video
Hi Dave, it’s Karl. Great video, I really enjoyed this one. I don’t have a ton of experience with EC’s so this was a good watch.
404 Refrigeration thanks, there’s not much to them.
My favorite universal motor
Nate Gadow have they been lasting for you?
I haven't gone back on any, I think X13 motors go into self destruct mode when theres a air flow restriction.
Nate Gadow I agree 100%
Great video, nice to get exposure to new products.
How much quieter is the motor over a PSC?
Love the jams, and making money. 💰💸💰💸

@@jucamvil I would contact mars on that.
I’m having the same issue, did you ever find a resolution?
@marcusmerryman8904 No. I contacted Mars and they told me some of those units fail that way. But mine was out of warranty, sooo, nothing to do with them. I just added a relay only to get it energized on demand.
Hey Nor-Cal Refrigeration what is the normal operating suction pressure of a r134a beverage cooler
Thanks for the vid. Helpful info.

mesedrew possible cfm. As an x-13 it programs itself to the system. As PSC it’s a fixed rpm. You could make it work either way honestly.
I like the new music

LEO ASHRAE 228$
Thanks Dave! That's $25 in my pocket! I'm going to keep one on the truck.
Nice job Dave! When is the next live stream/chat? 👍
Can you put one of these on your swamp cooler? Wire it direct to 120v AC?
I would not
@@NorCal-refrigeration Thank you!
You could use a Vevor 8" DC inline fan. $60 65 watts 120V 500 to 600 CFM
Thank you
Wow. How prices have gone up in 4 years
Crazy stuff
Like the new intro.

Gary Gin yes on the intro. US motors has the 6651TS rescue ECM 1 HP motor with exact wire hook ups to carrier. That’s the next one I’ll try.
That motor is from rsd 👍👍
Carlos yes. They did not have the US motors 6651TS rescue motor so I used the mars 10861
@@NorCal-refrigeration 10861 motor is being replace with GENT 6107E OR 6207E depends on voltage

what is meant by auto sizing?
That initial two minute run is how the motor figures out the static pressure in the system.
Is there no WIND? Instructions, boxes, packing all just laying there! Good vid good mtr for emergency
Don Love a little wind. Not bad though.
Good vid Super Dave , stinky gloves and all ... Lol ...
Noice! My gloves like yours stink. Do you wash yours or do they stink too?
Lex Vance I’m to busy to wash the gloves. I have the nitrile gloves also,

Can anyone work on a refrigeration system without certification just for fun?
Mechanically yes.

THEtechknight there are plug and play options US motors has a rescue motor that’s hooks up as OEM.
I know, I was just throwing sarcasm in there.
