Been following you for a while and also following the steps to Bermuda lawn care. I’m dominating my entire neighborhood. I’m in my yard everyday doing something I swear lol. I’m my wife thinks I’m crazy but too. Every day someone stops and ask what I use and I refuse to tell them. Plus they aren’t willing to put in the work, time or money 😩
Starting my journey with you in NE Atlanta. Taking the worst Bermuda lawn treatment to get the weeds out and push the Bermuda. Unfortunately, I seeded basic Bermuda 3 weeks ago in mid-Apr and hasn't grown. BAD SOIL (know now) so I bought PGF complete. Nutsedge is killing me!
Great info. Doc, I live down here in Peachtree City on an acre lot of which 60-70 % is common Bermuda. I’ve used PGF complete for the last two months with super juice and just laid down two bags of Humichar. I have two more bags standing by. I’ve literally been pulling out Poana by hand cutting out a lot of crabgrass. My question is I also have some rather large areas of bald spots caused by pine tree shade. I since had several cut down. Can I use this method to improve my soil since the bald spots are like hard pan. Thanks.
I agree with feeding your soil, i think you need to disturb your grass crown and soil profile with a verticutter, de-thatching machine. Then you should apply our prescribed nutrient. Your results will be vastly improved as the soil will be aerated as well as getting a good feed. Bermuda/Couch grass loves to be 'forced' to grow hard to repair itself.
So I have been following doc for some time and I'm not even sure if u read the comments but I am to a point where I want to buy the Humi-char... But you also carry the Humic DG. What is the difference between the two and which one should I use. I like in Washington state and I just started using super juice and PGF Complete, it's only been one application of PDF complete and 2 applications of Super Juice. What a difference it has made!!! I am super happy with the results so far. I am a week away from the second PGF Complete application and I cannot wait to see the lawn in a month or 2. Thank You Doc!!!
Doc, I used corn meal from a weed and feed horse feed store on my lawn to clear up the brown spots (patches) and it worked, however this year I want to try too prevent the brown spots, so I purchased the Anderson prophesy for the first time, hoping to put down now.
Forgive my ignorance, but would you need to get rid of all weeds first? I garden but I know little of lawn care. My lawn is in dire need of help but I'm determined. In the backyard, if I pull all the weeds I'll be left with huge bare patches. Do I wait for the grass to fill it in, first? I'm in 8b central Tx...another month and it'll be scorching. I don't know if it's too late to put seed down. Every time I research it I find conflicting information. Too many methods and "experts". 😂 Help! Your lawn is GORGEOUS!!
I have one of the worst Bermuda lawns ever. Nothing but weeds want to grow. I’m in Texas and it’s starting to get really hot. Would an application of PGF, chicken feed and humichar be enough to get it moving in the right direction? That combo is a little more in the budget. Thanks for your help
Is it OK to use regular city water when using the microbial packs? I’ve seen some debate that the chlorine in the water could kill off the beneficial microbes.
Doc, Concerning the microbial pack. I’ve seen in some places where you have to use distilled water and free of chlorine or else you do not get full benefit. Have you heard this or even bother with it? Thanks.
Hey doc, just found your channel a couple weeks back. So if you've noticed your old videos all getting views its me lol On your garden which plants need supports and which don't? I planted ones just like yours the first of may here in ne ok. I have them on my tomatoes, strawberry, and cucumbers but nothing else. I also have jalapeno, bell pepper, watermelon, onion, and herbs
Needed to till my backyard because the grass all died. Going to till in humichar, organic feed, lime, and spray the microbial pack with liquid compost. Will this process have any negative effects on grass seed germination? I’d hate to “cook” the fragile roots.
Over in Augusta here.... testinga top dressing of Black Cow manure, Humichar, and Liquid Lawn in 1/3 of my backyard after hand tilling the soil in bare spots. Additionally, been having issues with Po-annua all spring (frustrating as all get out) even after pre emergent and post emergent, any recommendations?
Doc, after putting chicken feed organic matter in my cool season grass here in the Northeast, I'm seeing some lawn fungus disease. Not too worried about it, but I don't know if putting down a fungicide now would hurt the"good" fungus I've created with the feed. Thoughts?
I had the small WEB fungus before applying... if that is what you are seeing. I have not see any increase from adding it. I have a decrease in the veggie gardens.
Sure... it's a fungal disease that causes rotting issues as well as plant issues. Over the YEARS... you may see a slight depression in those areas. Just our observation.
My lawn has clay soil and a 80/20 ratio weeds to grass. I wanna strip the top layer and amend the soil with gypsum and this process and then planting new grass seed. What are your thoughts?
great video.. Any chance humichar coming out in smaller bags? would love some but I have a very small lawn/garden P.S. LOVING my PGF complete. used a bag last year and got one for this year. amazing results
When you are making super compost couldn't you use a electric cement mixer Home size and put all the ingredients in it and use the mixer to keep it turned every few days etc.?
Hey Doc for my organic matter I’ve been using dry molasses and or corn gluten mill as a fertilizer, can I use the humichar along with it. Btw I put down a rate of 20lbs per 1000 for my organic fert.
I think clay soil has alot of nutrients in the soil, unfortunately if you don’t have it within the correct ph range, those nutrients are unavailable (mostly) to your crop. Get the ph in the correct range and that clay is going to give you a very nice crop, as long as this soil isn’t heavily compacted, which it may be, as its tendency, which precludes why you might try to add organic material to clay.
All soils have nutrients... it's the raising of the CECs , carbon and organic material that will sky rocket. Clemson soil test done on last video FYI reflecting this.
PGF complete finally shipped today from Amazon after ordered on April 4th.

You da man.........
Now thats awesome doc! I want to do this.
I added Lime to my lawn and brown patch and it seems to be getting better.

Soil temp is likely too cold for bermuda germination. It needs to be 65*F minimum.

Great Info! I had my lawns aerated today and I applied the first application of Humichar.
What is the recommended amount for the chicken feed on lawn?
So do we need to mix compost, humichar, super juice and organic fertilizer and let it sit for week and then mix in to garden soil? Thank you
How do you put down fertilizer in the winter in the Northeast and then

Humic DG does not contain biochar... Humichar contains both and replaces humic dg.
How add fertilizer for the winter in Upstate New York
What type/brand water nozzle do you use?
Another informative video, thanks Doc!

Why not top dress with that super soil?
Very interesting information. Thx.
Can you top dress with this compost soil you made?
I’m in Augustine Fl. Blah soil here. I miss my PA rich soil!!! What can I do?

Do you have Bermuda? But yes, treat the weeds and start feeding the lawn.

Show them this video and shut them up.... :) Tap water always used.
How do I get the microbial packs?
You could do deep solid tine first to help get to deeper
Doc,
Concerning the microbial pack. I’ve seen in some places where you have to use distilled water and free of chlorine or else you do not get full benefit. Have you heard this or even bother with it? Thanks.
Never mind. Found my answer in the comments.
The chicken feed you recommended doesn't seem to be available anymore. Is there a different one that I can use?
Hey doc, just found your channel a couple weeks back. So if you've noticed your old videos all getting views its me lol

The andersons fertilizer always great results back in the day with my lawn care bussiness pricey but work's
How much of microbial pack do you add to the super juice?
About a tablespoon is all you need each time.
How To with Doc Will grub and insect killers kill the microbes?
Hi Doc. What do you think of Liquid Lawn? I started using it last year after watching your videos on it. Do you still recommend it?
Needed to till my backyard because the grass all died. Going to till in humichar, organic feed, lime, and spray the microbial pack with liquid compost. Will this process have any negative effects on grass seed germination? I’d hate to “cook” the fragile roots.
so where did you learn how to make this super compost? Good stuff

Can you expand on how brown patch is causing depression in soil?
Sure... it's a fungal disease that causes rotting issues as well as plant issues. Over the YEARS... you may see a slight depression in those areas. Just our observation.
where did you buy the humichar and the microbial pac?
PGF isn't allowed in California, is there a comparable product you'd recommend?
what lawn spayer should i buy for the super juice i got from u , sorry , didn't have time
question: any suggestions when to cut lawn after applying the Hat Trick (chickenfeed, HumiChar, PGFcomplete) ?
My lawn has clay soil and a 80/20 ratio weeds to grass. I wanna strip the top layer and amend the soil with gypsum and this process and then planting new grass seed. What are your thoughts?
Hey doc quimical organic reaction?? Didn't you have to wait till finish reacting before adding to the lawn? Like on the vegetable garden???
No because it's very mild and not concentrated like the mulch pile.
I have mostly St. Augustine grass with some Bermuda mixed in. Live in north Texas. Would anything you said in this video be any different?
Doc what can you tell us about centipede
When have you switched from Humic DG to Humichar?
This year. No need for humic now.
great video.. Any chance humichar coming out in smaller bags? would love some but I have a very small lawn/garden
P.S. LOVING my PGF complete. used a bag last year and got one for this year. amazing results
When you are making super compost couldn't you use a electric cement mixer Home size and put all the ingredients in it and use the mixer to keep it turned every few days etc.?
Why do the products u recommend have such negative reviews on Amazon? I wanna try stuff but now I'm afraid after seeing them
Dude........... it's Amazon.
Doc, will grub and insect killers kill your microbes that are established in the biochar?
your tiger stripe reminds me of the late night recon missions i went on in north nam......
Hey doc, looking forward to the that new returned and repurchased McLane Greens Keeper 25 in Action!!!
Doc were in the Navy or sumthing? Keep up good output of information sir.
Hi doc got the hat need the glasses how can i get it
Hey Doc for my organic matter I’ve been using dry molasses and or corn gluten mill as a fertilizer, can I use the humichar along with it. Btw I put down a rate of 20lbs per 1000 for my organic fert.
You can use Humichar with any thing... but I would switch over to the chicken feed or find crushed soybean.
I think clay soil has alot of nutrients in the soil, unfortunately if you don’t have it within the correct ph range, those nutrients are unavailable (mostly) to your crop. I have a real concern trying the chicken feed I wouldn’t want birds all over my house
Funny... never, not once, had an issue with it. I assumed there might be some but none.
I put it down, 2+ weeks ago and there were no issues with birds on my lawn.
Did you use crumble or pellet chicken feed?
No issues on my side either. Birds are in my lawn but eating bugs not the feed.
Dammit, Doc. I was about to watch someone else do a soil health video and you took it away from them.
