Brilliant. I saw myself... good times then in Radcliffe. No fighting, lager louts, just so peaceful
    Thank you for the memories

I’m one of the lucky ones, I grew up in 70s Radcliffe, I can remember when it was such a lively and vibrant town, whit walks and the carnival and not forgetting silcocks fair on red bank field, them were the good old days. Thankyou for sharing

Nice video, makes you think what a thriving little town Radcliffe was before Bury Council took over and run it down.

Brilliant video😊 my grandparents my mum 😢 are probably in this video somewhere and my other family members too who are born and bred in radcliffe. I was born in 1987 and i use to go to brownies and guides and remember doing the parades on a sunday. I do miss the simpler times in life😊😊

Thank you! I was born and raised in Radcliffe. It was so lovely, safe and peaceful in those days. I went to Sunday School and was in the Brownies and Guides. Community spirit and discipline...in my opinion too much free reign and lack of discipline today has ruined what was once peaceful and harmonious.

@Sleeping Who are you mate? That's 3 off-colour comments on this video alone. What's wrong with you? Just let people reminisce without all this harrassment. We only have one life here, so I don't think anyone want to spend theirs reading your shite. Soon, you will be all grown up, and you probably won't think you deserve this kind of treatment, either. So, treat other people with a bit of humilityand maybe you'll get it in return one day.

The only time it wasn't peaceful and serene was when the congregation sang onward Christian soldiers very loudly ,and the children started running around the church pretending that they were soldiers throwing their pretend grenade hymn books at the vicar

the carnival now is pitiful, used to take ages to watch it all go by, nowadays they can do it just by stopping traffic at certain junctions as it goes by

Do you still have these in Radcliffe? I know that the Whit Walks have not been done in Tottington for many, many years. The brass band used to make my mum's dogs go beserk as they went past. As a kid I was involved in a few of them too, carrying a big bible on a sort of palanquin.
I miss these community events. I guess we live in a more secular world, but it's a shame that - if they had to go - they could not have been replaced with something that equally brought the community together.

They do but the procession is over in the blink of an eye. No colourful floats or flowered up cars etc. dustbin wagon and the mayoral car….
