      any update on timing on this? I cant get it to work the way you set it up. It does not change the pose.

      @@Jobutsu Im mostly looking for a way to utilize the retarget pose asset they have already created. With the ik retargeter Will that be in it?

    I really appreciate you mentioning the crash in the beginning. I have been trying all sorts of wild things to prevent this crash (which I didn't see or hear about in other tutorial videos), so it's super reassuring and time-saving to know the solution is just to compile a newer version of the engine from source. Really appreciated mate. I've dropped you a like and subscribe. 👍

      @@Jobutsu No worries mate. I know this is a big ask, but building non-release versions from source is a bit of a gamble stability-wise. Is there any chance you could let me know the SHA of the engine version you're running that's not having retargeting issues?

      ​@@Dudevid Do you happen to have a link to the 720a536 commit? I tried building the latest version of ue5-main but got all sorts of compiler errors. I'm not that familiar with github so I don't know if there's a way to simply search by SHA but I wasn't able to find the 720a536 commit just by going back through the commit history.

      Use the 5.0 branch, it is more stable than 5-main. That is the branch I use.

    Thanks for mentioning the crash being a bug. I've been trying to figure out for few days what am I doing wrong since I've been experiencing that while IK Targeting. Finally I know the reason :)

    Incase this helps anyone. For me, the crash kept occurring up until I clicked 'reset pose', before editing the pose in the ik retargeter. The crash was something like outpose.isnormalized. And i feel like resetting the pose potentially normalized it? idk. New engine problems lol

      You need to update UnrealEngine5 to preview 2

    can you please make a retargeting taturial for projects in Film/Cinema mode? it seems that that lots of basic elements needed doesn't exist in Film/Cinema mode. thank you

    in-case anyone is still crashing, be sure to set the target preview mesh! this is what was causing the crash

    I am done with metahuman... I did everything required, build from source code, retarget chain and still when I create a retargeter, I do not see the other mannequin... Why is metahuman which is from unreal so complex to use compared to other model like character creator...?

      Don't give up, It works. Just check your process and make sure you are not missing something. When you create MetaHuman IKRig, ignore twist bones etc at first, just use basic bones.

    It seems "free" bones like IK bones do not retarget correctly, is that a known issue or are we maybe doing it wrong?

      I just give the basics in this tutorial, I leave it to the viewer to experiment.

    8:15 the animation blueprint is empty, why would that be? edit. nvm I was in event graph, not anim graph. For everyone else, if yoou cant see the animgraph tab, click Animgraph down left under "My Blueprint"

    still does not work with most gun based animations. Idle pose, aim ,shoot, hands are twisted finged curled.

      There is also a retargeting issue in UE5 that messes up IKBones.

      @@Jobutsu Not using IK bones for my aniamtions tho, What a weird situation. Im going to attempt to try and change the ik chain up a bit and see what happens. If this does not work,. ill just export my animations back to my desktop, open them up in UE4 retarget there, send back to desktop and reimport to 5. I hate this system! lol

    the retaargeted animation is in place isntead of root motion... how to transfer the root motion as well?

      Check "Retarget Root" is checked. Also make sure pelvis is selected as root bone for retargeting. Do not create chain for pelvis or root.

      @@Jobutsu Seems I was cheering too early, if you have any advice or see what I am doing wrong I would be happy to hear it. Here is a short video showcasing the issue: th-cam.com/video/1-x42QnEZ7E/w-d-xo.html
      I've basically tried everything at this point (also tried using the mannequin as my target instead of the wizard you see in the video but it is the exactly same result so that should be fine).

    DUDE we dont need a dancing character ....we need an ingame metahuman ..hom importing metahuman ingame or in a created map and play with the metahuman (like using it ingame) .....
