Miles and Andy clearly are the winners of the mens League.. The womens champs should be the winners of that league. Stupid to tie the men and women together.. Does the LA Lakers b ball team affect the LA WNBA team? No. change the format and we might start to care AVP.. Listen to the people
I really think the league is fun to watch.. it's definitely not a, may the best team win, format. But it's fun. Hopefully the AVP will grow and the league won't be the main brunt of the season. 7 gold series events with league in the winter... Come on! 😅🤞🤞🤞
Congrats to the winners but this is a silly format. I understand the AVP trying to do something different but this isn't it. Empty stands for the final on network TV just drives that reality home. Miles and Andy are still undefeated. They should finish this game at Hermosa. 8-7 Chase & Miles serve...
How are Miles and Andy not the champions if they only lost 1 game over the entire AVP season? They were undefeated in League play and only lost once to Trevor and Theo in the Manhattan Beach finals. I see where the AVP is going, but think that the men’s and women’s champions shouldn’t be tied together as a team. I think that the AVP can have partnerships represent different cities but they shouldn’t collectively count together for the championship. I think it’s more entertaining to see the best partnerships for each gender make it to the playoffs representing their cities. I hate that Partain/Benesh go undefeated in the League but lose because they don’t ge to 7-8 points first.
This gimmick from AVP is never going to work. People are not gonna rally behind teams based on their cities when you got Hawaiians representing Miami etc. The whole pairing girls and guys records is bogus as well. They are trying to be like other sports but beach ain't like other sports and it shouldn't try to be. It has a unique culture. They did the same thing with the pro surf league a couple years ago. A surfer could win every contest and still not be the champ - it all depends on the final contest which could be in 2 foot blown out conditions. The AVP keeps pushing this narrative that the new format (15 points) is more exciting but that's whack. Crowd sizes are not increasing, more money is not coming in... Try to be different, you are never gonna be like NBA, NFL, or MLB
Like others have said, this concept falls through for two reasons: 1) combining men's and women's results doesn't convince when they are entirely disconnected, and 2) allocating teams to random cities fails to excite when the players have nothing to do with those places IRL. This edition of the League was a start, but big changes to the format are required to make the League a permanent success.
0 olympic medals for the US this cycle, what should our pro league do? AVP: lets make a stupid format that is completely different from international competition, annoying to watch, and completely screws over young and upcoming players. That'll grow the sport!
Partain and Benesh were robbed. They already won the gold medal match in straight sets, then out scored their opponents in the golden set. In no world should they not be league champions. Tying together a men’s team and a women’s team in rankings is horrible. Sure the golden set might be entertaining but you’re taking away some of the sport aspect. Even the commentators are not viewing the men’s and women’s side as one team because they play two different games. “Dallas Dream is undefeated in the season so far” - no they’re not, the women’s side lost several games over the course of the season. They stat the women’s side separately from the men’s side AS THEY SHOULD since they don’t compete with each other. You have to pick one way or the other, they’re either a team in every aspect for stats and everything or if you look at it logically, separate out the rankings. You can still have a city team with one men’s and one women’s team under the same name but you need separate men’s and women’s rankings.
Miles and Andy really got short changed. I didn't have to watch this to know that the Dream was gonna win the men's match then lose the championship golden set simply because they'd be going in with too big of a deficit from the girls to really catch up. Deberg's body language from the get go during the girls' match said it all, it was like watching their very first few league matches where they got demolished physically & mentally. This format is stupid, going undefeated & still couldn't walk away with the title.
This small crowd for a final should end the critical comments about poor attendance at FIVB tournaments, but it probably won't, because double standards.
The league, the team names, the championship format…just terrible. The great level of play, the phenomenal athletes, and great commentators can’t save this mismanagement. I’ve been watching and playing for well over 40 years, and this is the first time I’m disinterested and even disgusted. I want to support the best sport in the world. Please listen to the fans and abandon this approach entirely.
Nah, completely dumb. The Dream destroy the Smash, and somehow the Smash get a third chance, because of these stupid rules? Nah the Smash's women carried, while Budinger/Miles have fallen flat every week. Ridiculous format
@@SnailKingGYChase is a legit clutch player with great skills and consistency while Evans makes unforced errors left and right, it has to be frustrating for C Bud!
@@reevo7798 Chase has been good throughout league weeks, but somehow they've been 0-2'd multiple times by the top teams, and were knocked out of the OIympics super early on without much success. The first 2 sets of these finals were same story different setting when it came to the Dream vs The Smash, yet the AVP allows the Smash to get a third chance to win it all, because the women's side has been carrying them throughout the season? Let the women have their own championship cause Evans nowhere in hell deserve any chip.
@@SnailKingGY now imagine Chase with a more consistent player? Someone who has less missed serves and unforced hitting errors! Evans is a good player, just not a great clutch player.
@@reevo7798 If partain didnt go with benesh or Taylor Crabb didn't go with Brunner, I believe that having Budinger pair up with either of those 2 players would dominate the AVP and do very well internationally. Miles just gets in his own head and forces way too much late into games without executing well. The common denominator with all the teams that do well internationally are having high 95%-100% sideout games.
Dallas Dream men go undefeated all season and then score more points than the men in the golden set and yet are not the winners. That's rough.

Count me as another vote to stop tying the men and women together, there's zero reason for combining their results
Stupidest format ever, imagine winning every game and this stupidity happens

They lost 2 sets the whole season, both to Trevor & Theo... but still, I agree with everything else wholeheartedly!

Yeah have a women’s championship team and a men’s championship team and then have them play a 4’s match to decide the coed team champions ha
Yeah they should’ve kept it split, but what if they actually combined it more and had the men and women play a coed quads tourney together?

Great teams, but this league format seems a bit illogical. Also, what's up with the lack of attendance at these events.
The Texas matches (Austin & Dallas) had way more fans in the stands than any of the So Cal locations, which is kinda hard to even imagine!
A format worthy of a booing

moving forward, can we please have the Golden set be 4's? or Coed 2's?
Someone explain how SD won. It's a overall collective win not individual pairs?
yea its collective win of men and women combined

Wait they won in 2 sets and lost the match??? Winning is meaningless now? What the hell man this is insane

This is so pathetic, Evans got carried all the way through league play and now through the championship, we saw the true winners in the mens set
That guy has horseshoes up his ass. He's not a top player, yet somehow managed to win the league and represent the USA in the Olympics.
watch more video. you know he likes to set over on 2.
I hate this 😭😭😭 Evans is just not it sorry 😭😭
this format is wack af what am I watching?
the team names suck too
