There's this weird reoccurring pattern with the AOE3 stories, you have one hero on foot who is servant to another hero on horseback, the hero on horseback seems good at first but turns out to be bad later on, the servant then usually turns against them. They mix this up a bit from time to time but it's the same formula for all the AOE campaigns. The most interesting one is the Asian dynasties where the servant can't betray Tokugawa and just keeps serving him regardless, imo that was the best iteration of it.

Kinda crazy how little effort this looks like it took compared to how StarCraft redid their older cutscenes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Assassin’s Creed developers got the idea of The Templars from The Circle, you know, an all powerful organization that has spanned centuries and is incredibly hard to wipe out?

Assassin's creed was released waaaaay before aoe3
Edit: nvm I was wrong. Aoe3 came out about 2 years ago before AC.

When I played AC3 for the first time, i was reminded of AOE3 when you get to play along side with Washington as the Iroquois.

I would love someone to mod this campaign and actually replace them with the Malta faction from the recent DLC.

once in a while you can see ottomans as allies with western force main characters in the game, unlike %99 rest of the games.

Lol Pirates of the Caribbean definitely stole this story from AOE3.

The Ottomans were relics of the past?! Are they serious!? That is totally historically inaccurate! This era was when the Ottomans were in their golden age. Heck! This scenario opened with the Siege of Malta, and who was the Ottoman sultan at the time? Suleiman the Magnificent: lawgiver, conqueror, defender of the faith. He conquered huge swathes of the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Heck! He even drove the Knights of St. John from their old base in Rhodes decades earlier.
And the Knights of Malta fighting against the Spanish? The Hospitallers were themselves a Catholic military order. They were on the same side as Spain. And most grievous of all the inaccuracies here…why are the flipping Aztecs still around?! By the time of the Ottoman siege of Malta in 1561, Spain had already conquered the Aztecs four centuries earlier under Hernán Cortés. The only other Mesoamerican civilization left in the New World at the time were the Mayans, and they were already fighting a guerrilla war against the Spanish.
However, I will forgive the presence of Inca prisoners. The Inca Empire was still around by this time, but on its last legs in the jungles of Ecuador. Yet by this time, the Incas already adopted Spanish weapons, such as swords, crossbows and muskets, wore plate armor and even took to riding horses.

Spanish conquering Aztecs four centuries before 1561 ... mkay, lets just pretend there was something as a Spain in a first place or Europeans knew about Americas during 1161 and smile lol. And Scandinavians dont really count as they havent really spread the knowledge of it.

I have to agree that "Ottomans are relics of the past" literally makes no sense, the Knights of Malta were indeed on their way out but the Ottomans were in their peak, at this time the Ottomans were possibly the strongest power on the planet with the Ming's collapse. They were as rich as Spain + France put together.
As for the rest: I have a theory that the AOEIII campaigns happen on an alternate timeline. My pet theory is that it happens after the end of the Age of Conquerors Aztec Campaign, in which Cualtemoc managed to beat Cortez.
Cortez defeated means Pizarro doesn't go out to conquer the Incas. Incas and Aztecs last longer, through they still get ultimately conquered after the 1560s.
This also explains why the Russians somehow have the capability to send an army to California during the 7-Years War, why Amelia Black is running railroads across the USA and fighting Mexicans during the time of Bolivar, and why Carib indians still exist in the early 19th century.

AoE3 continued the trend of prioritizing gameplay over historical fidelity (it is, after all, an RTS game), but I can understand the "Ottomans were relics of the past" thing. The main focus of AoE3 from launch was the discovery and colonization of the Americas, sparked by the wave of exploration due to the capture of Constantinople/Istanbul and the blocking of the Silk Road to the Western powers. Being a "relic of the past" would refer to being anchored in the **Old** World, where even if it were to gather significant power it would not be able to expand and participate in the exploration, colonization and conquest of the **New** World.

Ensemble makes little to no effort with their remasters, even the remakes are just blatantly bad in all the ways that matter. I stopped gaming because game developers stopped improving their games. Increased polycount is irrelevant to the actual gameplay and physics.
