Phuket was one of the worst places I've visited in SEA so far. Absolutely rip off, disgusting Elephant abuse and hordes of Russians. Absolutely a skip for me. The only 'ok' part was the giant buddha temple on top of the mountain. Still a place I'd rather have never visited. Edit: I have to commit, that there are pretty good restaurants around as well, so not only the Buddha Temple.

@@-ripinpieces-8409 Hey there! Gosh, I'm really sorry to hear that your experience in Phuket didn't live up to expectations. I have to say, I personally had quite a different one-I found Phuket to be a really special place.
But I totally get it-your experience can really depend on where you stay and which parts of the island you explore. I had vastly different experiences in Rawai, Nai Harn, and Karon myself, and it just goes to show how diverse Phuket can be.
One thing that really stood out to me was how warm and friendly the local people were. Their smiles are just contagious, and their openness really made me feel welcome. And let's not forget about the amazing temples! There’s such a rich history here, and I loved visiting all the incredible temples, each one with its own story to tell.
I do have to agree with you about the elephants though-it’s heartbreaking to see how they’re treated in some places. But the good news is, there are sanctuaries like the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary where they’re working hard to rehabilitate elephants and give them the life they deserve. I highly recommend checking them out if you're ever back. (www.phuketelephantsanctuary.org/)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate hearing different perspectives. It helps keep me open-minded, and I hope, if you ever give Phuket another chance, it might surprise you in a good way.
Take care, and thanks again for the comment! 🌟

@@DG-REAL-WALKS Thanks, that you took the time to post this nice comment. I'm going back to Thailand in a couple of weeks, but I will visit Ko Lanta again. This is what I imagine if I hear Andaman sea and a tropical paradise. Sure, there are also lots of tourists, but it's so much better than Phuket. At least for us. If you like nightlife and party, Phuket might be the better option, but I'm a nature guy who likes to enjoy without huge crowds. So I guess Thailand have something for anyone. That's why it's a supreme destination for us.
