Darkskin black men were the standard for masculinity and attractiveness for a while at least amongst black people and women would say colorist shit about light skin guys constantly. It was like a running joke throughout the 90s. They were referred to as pretty boys and treated like they were weaker. Why can't someone think this man is attractive without being a colorist? Despite popular opinion I don't think black men should all be labled colorist for finding a light skin woman attractive either. It's lame to attack someone for acknowledging beauty in another human being.

If you want to talk about a dark skin man with a thin frame lets try Tyson Beckford. He was literally a slim ass model and women sweated him before they even knew he was mixed with Asian. Women swore Wesley Snipes was gorgeous and I never saw it. I never saw women in my community elevate light skin men. Especially during the time frame I mentioned. Sorry if you are a dark skin black man who hasn't had this experience. Like honestly sorry shit has been so tough.
Sorry needed to add this: not sure if this would interest you but speaking of darksin black men Louis Vuitton just did a fashion show featuring almost all black men with Mos Def as a performer. If you want to see dark skin men celebrated as beautiful then that show will blow your mind. STUNNING DARK SKIN BLACK MEN.

They went along with the "no joke". Dark skinned black men acted like light skinned black men had less "relevancy" than them. And then comes light skinned drop dead gorgeous Steph Curry. And suddenly "the light skinned brothers" are ALL the rage. Just look at ALL the Black college recruits, they are 85 percent light skinned. Look at the top players and shooters in the NBA, they are "suddenly" light skinned. The "light skinned brothers" are NO longer "the butt of the joke". Carry on.

🌴My best friend in elementary went to NY with her mom to vacation. At the time it was the 80s , and Qs dad had just came out with his first hit song , well my friend and her mother got lost , turned down the wrong street , AND BEHOLD, THERE HE WAS, STEPPING OUT FOR A BIT OF A BREAK FROM SHOOTING HIS VIDEO.
AL B SURE !!! YES HE WAS OUR FAVORITE. LET ME TELL YOU HE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO GRANT SEVERAL PICTURES WITH HIM. MR. SURE EVEN HELD HER IN HIS ARMS, LIKE PICKED HER UP...BOY TALK ABOUT LUCK.
HOWEVER, THIS STORY REMINDED ME OF HIS FATHERS LOVE FOR HIS FAN. HOW HE WENT OUT HIS WAY AND DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THE EXTRA.
