You make it look effortless (as with all your vids) and I dug the very cool change over from match grip to traditional at the jazzy tempo change. Always enjoy watching you play Joe........Nick
Thanks Joe....I will work on that. Sort of a bad habit I have always had as my right hand much more dominant than my left. If I am in traditional grip I do rolls/& sometimes fills using RRL-RRL because I just could never do a good RRLLRRLLRRLL.... With match grip I can do it mainly using the bounce from the skins (I believe it is referred to as a French roll ???). My single stroke rolls/fills are ok. I remember several years ago you mentioned to me all of the instruction you had as a kid and that your teacher worked you with the drumming books. I believe you played a lot of big band and jazz. Were you "a natural" on the traditional grip with the RR-LL roll from the get go? I know good instruction, technique and dedicated practice are important but having a natural ability is huge. Keep the uploads coming. Also glad to see you are still with the Zep group. Has it been 2-3 years since you started playing with them, correct? Like the Good Times Bad Times you recently posted. Great classic rock. Keep'm coming my friend.....Nick
That Good TImes Bad Times was just a spur of the moment idea during an open mic night. We never played it together before. Mike the lead guitarist and I played it with his band that I sometimes play in. We never played it with that combination of players. The Led Zep band is not together anymore. We keep in touch but it became too much the singer. I'm just free lancing when I can. I have a busy day job so my weekends are not always free. I wouldn't say the traditional grip came naturally. It takes getting used to. Once you're used to it, it becomes pretty comfortable. As far as sticking combinations, it's never too late to practice your chops on the practice pad w/Stick Control or the Joe Morello Master Studies books. An hour a day will work wonders for your playing. I've been teaching and I see how students progress when they practice. Since I recently got this new Ludwig 5x14 black beauty snare, I've been on a roll with the videos. I like the drum very much. It's crisp and fun to play. Talk soon, Joe
Thanks. I missed the very beginning of one or two, nothing major. He started some triplets earlier than I thought. I didn't have this drum part memorized 100%.
Thanks..Regarding that fill, Seraphine used to do that a lot. Alternate between L & R on the toms..Although he did it smoother..It's a little weird when you're not used to it.
i cant find but 1 utue drummer to play the song "simon zealotes" from jesus christ superstar. please do it . i live in condo and cant make noise, so i have to air jam music behind my drums. i memorized the play music. simon is kick ass fun!
Very well done!!!
im 65. chicago and B.S. &T. are the best bands with horns and good fun drumming!
Very Danny- like. Bravo!
Nice job. Enjoyed that. I’m a big Danny fan👍
Awesome job Joe. This is such a great song and Danny of course is a great drummer. The bass line in this song is beyond groovy as well!!
Thanks. I've always been a fan of Danny Seraphine. IMO, Chicago sounded much better with him in the band as compared to today's version of Chicago.
Joe that was just plain nice, great job.
Thanks
Running out of adjectives to describe your fabulous drumming, Joe :D
man besides the groove and precision I feel like you choose the right cymbals for your touch! sound amazing!
Another chill tune that sounds great!
absolutely awesome
Thanks

Thanks. You did a good job on this too. You should try alternating your triplets instead of playing R-R-L R-R-L. Try for R-L-R L-R-L R-L-R L-R-L.

Great job. Check out vid "Leonid and friends" Questions67 and 68--they are a Russian Chicago tribute band--amazing!
Yes.. I just came across Leonid & Friends". They do great Chicago covers and other bands too...
Great job Joe! If you missed any fills I didn't notice. :)
Thanks. I missed the very beginning of one or two, nothing major. He started some triplets earlier than I thought. I didn't have this drum part memorized 100%.
Nice solid playing :)
Thanks
masterfull...
Thanks...Always liked Seraphine's drumming. Today's Chicago misses it greatly IMO.
Fabulous drumming! What a gnarly fill at 3:28
Thanks..Regarding that fill, Seraphine used to do that a lot. Alternate between L & R on the toms..Although he did it smoother..It's a little weird when you're not used to it.

Amazing, try to drum Hallelujah by Panic! At The Disco.
Thanks. I like how they added the beginning drum riff to Hallelujah. I'll play it soon..
