Rudys forth coming book: 30 pallets was 30 pallets too much.
While that would be funny. I think he knows, and is well versed in managing risk. That's why he can handle not selling so many boxes at a time. If he doesn't have the capital at hand at that moment, he is pretty sure he can get it by the time the credit card bills come due. Likely due to some of his prior investments.
This way he can hold onto the boxes for x amount of time as... an investment. Eventually they will go back up it's just a matter of time.
Even if the floor fell out of mtg and all boxes went to near $0. I am fairly sure he would still be rich. Less rich, but still rich nonetheless. Why? Diversification. A lot of mtg stores starting out are over extended, putting all on black so to speak. That business model works so long as everything keeps going up and up and the market remains bullish. Any evening out, or downturn and they are caught with their pants down.
I’m paying 210 for my modern horizons at my local comic store, but I get the buy a box and they treat me well because they know I will buy my typical two boxes and they always hold them for me and I try to support them, now the rest of my boxes will be purchased online

I hope a lot of you guys who are investing in tons of the newer sealed boxes realize that the old boxes only went up because only a FEW people were holding them...the supply is low. Everyone is holding the newer boxes, and when they go to sell them in 10-20 years, the supply is going to be SO much greater. Not saying you wont make money. I just hope investors realize that fact.

Yeah Sticking Tape IS expensive I noticed that what a bummer. I sell also musical instruments 🎸 and need a lot of it it’s getting ridiculous.
Just FYI, I work in the credit card industry and you shouldn't max out your credit limit and pay it off several times a month unless you have a well established relationship with that bank. Do that on a new account and you will trip all sorts of fraud flags, leading to major headaches all around. There are people who max out new cards, pay them off using fraudulent bank information, and try to repeat the process several times before the payments start being reversed. Credit card companies can lose thousands from this scam, so they can and will shut your card down if they suspect you of it.

Rudy v. 2.48 purpose - build good will with the community. Status - stable with a chance of storms. Meltdown certain.
Buying 2000 boxes at 160 a box is 340,000... then sell ALL of those boxes at 200 a box gets you 400,000... that is 60,000 profit, which is A LOT of money but what a lot of people dont realize is how much work it is to distribute that many boxes and separate orders out to all of the people and the upkeep cost it takes to keep you and your business going, so yes a profit is made there, but I dont think people realize the final ACTUAL amount made after it is all said and done with costs

Hey Rudy. I've wanted to be a box patron for a bit now but live in Canada, and therefore can't be shipped to (womp womp). Is there a possibility of becoming a patron, and coming to pick up my boxes every couple of months thereby avoiding the WotC policy of shipping?
According to my Discover card, my credit rating bounces around from 790 and 806, but my credit limit is no where near 40,000 lol.

Hey Rudy - why not use the Bank of America premium rewards card, 2.625% cash back on all purchases if you have an investment/cash/mortgage balance with Bank of America. (similar credit limit)

My lgs isnt the greatest of stores but we put up with it. There is a very small store 2 hours from me though that I go to when I am up north that is amazing. Owner always used to sell at MSRP no matter what. People like that and stores like that keep me believing that there are some stores out there that are not just in it for the money are really shady (i.e. my lgs)
All I gotta say.. is in that thumbnail I saw my favorite credit card... That 2% cash back. I buy nearly everything on that Citi card and pay it off biweekly. Edit- regardless though, I'll always always always have at least one credit card on the side with no interest.. speaking of which.. my 1.5% citizens card is running out of no interest in a few months. That's what I used for 9 boxes of spark. Nearly paid off.. giggity

What if stores sold products at different prices? Hear me out.
You place an order at the regular price but your order is volatile. If the price goes past a certain predetermined point then your order is cancelled and you would have to re-purchase. Or, you could place an order for the box at a higher price, but that higher price is a guaranteed sale. If the price goes above this value you still won't lose your order.
I know nothing about the money's. Please be gentle. It was just an idea.
they generally do, pre-orders are usually cheaper from Jump, however what they have left that wasn't pre-ordered will be marked up accordingly if the demand for the product grows. Your LGS for example most likely capped the amount of pre-orders of Modern Horizons with the hope that the cost will rise, therefore even though you recieved your box for 199, all future boxes will be higher, same with pack prices etc.
Like Rudolph said, the point of pre-order is to make back some of the cash you fronted, the big profit comes post-release....that is until its time to re-up, and distro's have also raised their prices.
