  • This video is on the Krylon UV Varnish (matte) and how it worked for a couple of oil pastel paintings. I tested this on two paintings; one that is 100% sennelier and the other 100% Paul Rubens. How many applications did it take to get full coverage? Watch and find out.

    Oooh, I will definitely try this. I have been using the Sennelier, and Talens varnish for oil pastels (Has some gloss). But I really like that matte finish, and it’s very reasonable, at least in the states.

    And so the wide-spread idea that oil pastels "never really dry" is debunked!! What an incredible gift to those of us who shied away because of that. Many, many thanks!!!

      Yep 👍🏼 . Totally debunked. They are the perfect medium. Can do anything with them on multiple surfaces and they last.

    If I'm not mistaken you had had a bad experience with the UV Archival Varnish spray a while ago when you were comparing sprays for oil pastel but you suspected you had a defective product. Glad to see it is a good product after all and the matte can be used on watercolor too. Thank you for this quick lesson.

      Yes, you’re right. I had a bad can and it ruined one of my paintings. I decided to give them a go again and sure glad I did.

    Thank you very much. I’ve just started using oil pastels and need all tips, especially there aren’t many videos on this medium.

    After applying linseed oil or thinner, will you apply fixative or varnish archival directly? How long should I wait for the linseed oil to dry before varnishing it? 😇🥰Thank you for sharing.

    I was about to use Sennelier Fixative... Will get and use Krylon Matt instead. Thanks a lot!

    Hello, does the Kamar still work at the end? I can't find the Krylon UV Archival varnish anywhere in Canada. I used it in the past on colored pencils paintings and it's really great.
    Will the Kamar work well despite sticky/smell/etc?

      @raizes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. It’s just very strong smell and takes awhile to gas out. If you use a lot of sennelier , then it will take many applications to get past the sticky feel.

    Is there a waiting period before you can varnish/ seal ?

    • @raizes
      @raizes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like to wait a week , sometimes longer. I know some people who varnish the next day and they don’t have issues. If you’re using a lot of sennelier, then probably best to give it several weeks .
