- We recently completed the following documentary of the Ringwood Fish Culture Station processes after following the efforts of volunteer group from the Metro East Anglers for the past year.
This video, now being shown at the Sportsman Show in Toronto, shows the full process from egg collection to releasing reared salmon and trout back into the tributaries of Lake Ontario.
This should be of interest to all outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy the great Lake Ontario fishery we have today.
I respect people that care about their environment. Great work!

Thank you for taking care of the fishery. Amazing job to all involved
I wish my government will conserve the amazing aquatic life in my country.
Envy you Canada!
It does; a variety of identification systems were used to track stocked fish. Being a pier fisherman and a volunteer; about 95-98% of the Salmon we catch off the pier were our fry at one point. Hundreds of thousands of fish are released annually. It's a great experience.
Cool video! Well made and well narrative! You days are literally saving millions of salmon every year!
good work , really nice insightful video, best wishes for your programme, well done to all the volunteers,

Great Work. Well Done. Bless the Planet with Conservation. We've taken enough....it's time to give back.
Kevshiok If humans weren't ok with giving up our lives only to support and destroy the planet we wouldn't need conservation. We are the only ones on the planet that need to be maintained . Every other animal but us knows balance or harmony.
Marvellous job we would like to do this in sri lanka too ....

Everything we can do to off-set over fishing of salmon in the oceans is a help. My video shows the fish ladder up to the fish hatchery on the American River in California, USA. They release hundreds of thousands of fry each year. But only a tiny percentage return "home" to breed.
Some of the problem is believed to be draw off of fresh water in the Sacramento River delta to send south over 100 miles to the corporate agribusinesses in the San Joaquin Valley where it is used profitably to grow almonds, strawberries, walnuts, and many other crops. California is said to supply about 70% of the fresh fruits, nuts, and vegetables eaten in the United States.
3 things i know why a small % of fish come back to breed 1. commercial fishing with their big nets on each side of the boat 2. Indians and gill nets 3. seals. there is probly some more but those i would say are the main ones.
Another Amateur > fresh water is big business in california, mean while our governor Jerry "lame duck " Brown is funding a bullet train ? U go figure , we live in a state that is running out of water and instead of building rain catchment resevoirs ie lakes, we`re building a high speed train , go figure!
The fish don't run to the sea and back, but we release them for both angers to enjoy and in hope of a self- sustaining population in the future.
thank-you for your service fish men
That's so cool!!!
didnt know and amazed you guys count them
This is amazing
good stuff! keep it up!
Great job sir respect from India🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
