Despite the awful situation, everybody in that community should be proud! The police, the operators the teachers, the bus drivers, and even passing citizens.
As a kid you always heard this stigma ....if you don't study you're going to be a bus driver. They're an essential part of our society and they sometimes make more than someone with a degree I've learned
absolutely. My aunt is a bus driver now. She worked her entire career at Pfizer mixing the physical chemicals to create the drugs, hard, back breaking, physical work. She’s a tiny little lady too, I think under 5ft. That work def took a toll on her physically but when Pfizer closed her plant she needed another job and got her CDL. She became a bus driver and also worked for shuttles since we have 2 casinos near us. That had to be 10-15 years ago and she hasn’t stopped driving the school bus. The way she talks about her kids, she makes the effort to get to know every student. She started driving the special needs bus a while back and I swear it’s the perfect job for her. I remember as kids when all us cousins got together being told to hush down in the car, but now when we’re on road trips with my son and his cousins I’m the one telling them to quiet down when she’s driving and shes telling me she didn’t even notice them. She has mastered driving with screaming kids haha. A few years back she had a boy who loved animals and would sit behind her and tell her all these random facts. Somehow it came up that he didn’t know there was a library outside of school that he could get books at too. My son and I were going to the library weekly or biweekly at that point so she gave me a topic and my son and I picked out a huge stack of books for him. She surprised him and had them waiting on the bus for him. Every day he would read and tell her everything he was learning. She also decorates her bus for the holidays. Using window clings or little decorations she makes sure certain kids don’t get the same decoration or they’ll fight. She knows which kids would do that, because she’s gotten to know them so well. Covid sucked big time. Routine is very important for certain kids and she had quite a few that didn’t handle not seeing her well. Some parents actually reached out to her via Facebook to see if they’re kid could say hi to her. I made my heart melt hearing her tell me stories of her kids reaching out. She even had some drive by her house so they could wave to each other. And if she wasn’t in the window when they came she had teddy bears there to wave at them. She’s also spent every Day after thanksgiving up early and parking her bus in the local shopping plaza to collect donations for local charity for Christmas. She’s organized it for years and always fills the bus. So many people think anyone can be a bus driver, but it’s not easy. In addition to all the amazing things she does bc she’s a good person, but actually passing the test is hard too. I’ve gone and helped her practice for the driving portion. They have to do every single step in the manual by memory and it’s not easy. Obviously when you’re driving it’s habit to look both ways, check mirrors, etc. but when you’re being tested and have to voice “looking in left mirror” it can be tough. Even after 10 years she still gets worried about the tests. She could probably drive that bus in her sleep but she always wants to be her best. They have to take drug tests, annual physicals, eye exams, and keep up with their CDL renewals and stuff. You can’t have like any traffic infractions on your record. They def don’t let just anyone drive the buses. I actually had sent my aunt this video saying I wanted to share it with her bc bus drivers don’t get the recognition they deserve. They do SO much. Schools literally wouldn’t function without them. We had some local issues with our bus routes after a new middle school opened up right next to 2 high schools and the board didn’t factor in traffic of 3 big schools all in 1 spot. It was a cluster f**k for months. But these bus drivers busted their butts to get every kid to school and back home. They had parents scream at them, get rowdy, just be foul for things the bus drivers don’t control. Sorry for the long novel, I clearly am pro bus drivers haha they are essential and had like no protection during Covid either. No one thought about them when they discussed teachers and school staff. They were riding in buses with hundreds of kids, already on tight schedules and then were also responsible to deep clean/disinfect their buses between runs. That was a whole other mess. But to any parents who have kids that ride the school bus, try to get to know the driver. Be friendly. They work so hard and care so much about their kids. We’ve seen bus drivers lose their life protecting their kids, we’ve seen bus drivers keep kids calm in accidents, we’ve seen bus drivers find and rescue a kidnapped baby. There’s so many videos of bus drivers going above and beyond. I didn’t expect anything less in a tragedy like this. They rushed to help without any hesitation and all they wanted to do was get those kids out of harm. I couldn’t imagine the feelings I’d experience in a scenario like that. And I know 100% my aunt would rush to help to if it ever happened here. so many would. Edit to add: holy crap I didn’t realize I wrote that much. I don’t blame anyone if they don’t read this lol
@Sara i will be honest I skimmed thru most of that comment. But thank your aunt for an outstanding line of work. It's not easy dealing with kids. This person appreciates the bus drivers
Praise the bus drivers, they helped got the children and faculty to be safe and sound, they are also heroes.

Lovely people. The school's teachers were brave and handled it so well too. Bless everyone touched by this tragedy.
I love that the kids were calm enough to sing. God bless them!
the organization/team effort was an amazing thing to see.
Awesome job, Nashville!!!!
100%
Why am I crying like a lil baby in a room full of cut onions? In the midst of so much evil, there is overwhelming good

I was wondering how they got busses there as I knew the private school didn’t have any. Thank you for helping out!
Need more people like this these days
But the 3 childrens😢💔my hearts broken for the one who lost their lives. RIP
It's a calling. I worked as an aide for the special needs kids on a bus, and there was no better job.
None of us had a clue we just knew it was a active shooter.
I caught her statement too.
Amazing lady!
Equally as well, the other driver's who helped.
children shouldnt go through this, hopefully america shows change.. to many young people are losing their lives to gun violence and it’s disgusting!
When is enough enough??
73:10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. Psalm
And thank the bus company for providing the busses and fuel.
The police had a plan good job
@ 1:56 The face you make when you're playing a role in a staged drill and don't like the camera filming you. What a tough guy! 😂
got dang kelly bell Thicc heart she wears
❤
and I wonder who is going to foot the bill those are public school buses being used to save kids at a private Christian school -- tax exempt no doubt
Sadly when guns are allowed with no real safety measures people will use them for terrible things.
